When the H1N1 vaccine is available it will be free for everyone who wants it. Should that include illegal immigrants?

What a dumb question. Why don't all the illegal invaders who get a flu shot have to pay for the shot and a bus ride home? Now, that would be a much better question. One that I predict some in Congress will be asking themselves after the election.

The vaccine has three purposes:
1. Keep the spread of the disease at a minimum. THE MORE PEOPLE who get it the smaller the outbreak.
2. Keep people healthy
3. Minimize the healthcare load on our infrastructure.

If you look at these 3 reasons then #1 and #3 would say the more people that get the shot the better. PERIOD. I am as conservative as they come but give the vaccine to whomever asks without questions. I have children, a grandchild . . . . This is a no-brainer.

I am against illegal immigration and believe this president along with his predecessor has done nothing to control our borders. But with that said, it is important that we do what we can to protect our citizens. Therefore I agree that vaccination should be given to all. Also, it should not be left to our doctors, pharmacies and hospitals to enforce immigration, that is a function of the federal government and so far they have shown no inclination to do so.

It is important to note that legal immigration requires that a person undergo a physical examination and if found to have certain communicable diseases an entry visa is not granted. Illegal immigration on the other hand is allowing people entry with all types of communicable diseases that we are not immune to. Therefore it can be said that illegal immigration is not only a political issue, but a health issue that can become a disaster in the US. If you think swine flu is a crises, you haven't seen anything yet.

WBT should provide FREE radios to ALL "undocumented workers", reformat existing programming into Spanish and require advertisers to submit multi-lingual spots along with FREE products and services.

These flu shots will not be "free" for everyone. Only the moochers would get them "free" whether they are illegal or otherwise.

If the Native Americans had an immigration policy many of them would not have succumbed to the diseases brought over by the Europeans. We learn nothing from history, so we are doomed to repeat it. Our immigration policy is now no different than it was 500 years ago. Just ask the border states about the diseases that are overwhelming the emergency rooms now that are a direct result from illegal immigration.

Yes, we need to vaccinate, and yes, we need to control our borders. I say land mines are a very good deterrent to illegal immigration and a stimulus to the economy as it would provide jobs to those that assemble them, unless of course we buy them from China.

What part of "illegal" is so hard to understand? I am in favor of giving taxpayer funded flu shots to illegals as they board the bus/plane on the way home.

I thought that if you were in the country illegally, that meant that you were not supposed to be here. That, if found, given a one-way ticket home. The only thing I want my tax money to go to, is that ticket. No excuses. I'm tired of the money spent and the conversation wasted on them. If you are an immigrant and came through Ellis Island, then more power to you. The illegals need to be sent back home, period. If not, then redefine the term "illegal immigrant" to what it really is. "Free social service people paid for by US Taxpayors".

If this is free, then how come my doctor wants to get paid to administer it? If it is truly free, was this vaccine made by volunteers, shipped on trucks at no charge, and provided with no charge by the vaccine companies, and administered by volunteers at clinics, pharmacies and doctor offices? Was there no money involved in its research, manufacture and administration? You may not be charged to get the vaccination, but it is hardly free, you are paying for it somewhere! There is no such thing as a free lunch!

My body does not check the birth certificate of the virus attacking it, so the vaccination should be free for undocumented immigrants. In fact, it should be free for tourists and others visiting the United States.

Free, is not free. Doctors do not check in patients, receptionists do and it is there job to sort out the illegals. Perhaps, then our medical costs would not be so high. Make illegals wanting emergency health care pay for it right then and there, while they are waiting to be picked up and sent back home. If we do not offer them jobs, health care, food stamps, housing and free education they will go back home. There will be nothing here for them. Since our recession started a lot of illegal's have returned home, it works!

Kathy, you just can't bring yourself to say "illegal immigrants" can you...would identifying a person as "illegal" make you think differently about them? I happen to agree with you about providing the vaccine to anyone, but please, call it like it is...they have broken the law...they are illegal immigrants!

illegal immigrant is an oxymoron.immigration is a legal status.let's call them what they are,invaders.as they come in to get their shots,put them on the bus and send them home.if they try to come back they should get shot.

kaync, I prefer "undocumented immigrant" because I believe we should document all immigrants, even if they did not announce themselves when they came here. Once immigrants are documented, we can assists them and provide them with legal ways to stay here and become citizens if they want. The term "illegal" is so pejorative and hurtful that it should not be used when talking about immigrants. When I was young, children born out of wedlock were defined as "illegitimate", and I always found that to be very cruel. So I am very sensitive when it comes to such harsh terms.

Surely one of the organizations that supports illegal immigration can use its money to provide shots for them. These organizations like, "La Raza" and "MALDEF" can ensure that everyone gets their shot.

Having taboos and using harsh words about BAD things like out of wedlock childbirths would slow the obscene growths in such behaviors. Frankly, discouraging behaviors that are destructive to society and to individuals would probably go a long ways towards reducing crime and poverty and loads of other societal ills.

But you liberals value self esteem and "Not hurting anyone's" feelings more than you do actually valuing the individuals themselves. So, on we go, marching towards a society of unhurt feelings populated by fragile shy sheep. The numbers of damaged lives increase and we expand the domain of that which cannot be said.

Children out of wedlock are illegitimate and people that ILLEGALLY crossed the border are illegal aliens. Call a spade a spade and be done with it. I dont think anyone should get this vaccine, especially small children and pregnant women. It contains 3 times the mercury allowed by the FDA. They did no testing on this stuff and people are just going out and getting stuck because they are scared of a flu that has been described as less intense than the seasonal variety..

Kathy, perhaps you should relocate to Mexico since you seem to be in love with the illegals. I worked for one of the major suppliers of chicken to all of the food stores and fast food chain, so I know about illegal immigrants first hand. They all know how to play the system to get whatever they want for free. I watched as legal citizens were turned away when they applied for jobs and illegals were brought in by the bus loads and given the jobs. No I do not have any sympathy for them, I feel the border guards should be given the order to shoot on sight and leave them in the desert for the vultures to pick their bones. This would certainly deter the flow of illegals across the border and legal US citizens will be put back to work.

I though the constitution specifically states that the federal government is duty bound to protect us from invasion. Kathy, if someone entered your home without your permission would that be an undocumented entry or would it be illegal entry? I agree that to use the term "illegetimate" when refering to someone born out of wedlock would be cruel but, it hardly compares to saying that an act was "illegal" if there were indeed laws broken. Call them what you will but, your undocumented persons entered the country illegally.

Senior, we don't shoot people for speeding because that violates the Eighth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The same applies to shooting someone who comes across our borders. Just because an act may be illegal does not give somebody the right to prevent the act by any means. The U.S. Constitution protects people from cruel and unusual punishment.

I am totally against illegal immigration, but I do believe they should be immunized, because that will help in the spread of the virus. With that said, if illegals get free shots, then EVERYBODY should get free shots.

Mark, having children is not destructive to society, even if those children are born outside of traditional marriage. But, I will grant you that, if we all agreed on what acts are destructive to society, then discouraging those acts would be a good thing. I have no problem with your argument; I have a problem with your premise.

Last I checked the Constitution only covers AMERICANS. So shooting people illegally crossing the border.. those people aren't covered by the 8th amendment. Also it is illegal, as someone pointed out, to enter the US without declaring yourself and providing a reason for your visit. To work in the US for extended periods of time you must obtain a work visa and/or a green card. Those that do not follow those laws are breaking the law. They are committing an illegal act. Not an undocumented act. Quit twisting words to make your liberal mind feel better. As for shooting.. I agree a bit extreme, but some electrified fencing and razor wire work pretty well.

And again. No one should be getting this vaccine it has not been tested by the FDA. They fast tracked it. The filler is not approved for human use and the vaccine itself has no long term testing associated with it.

Cruel and unusual punishment does not fit in this case. By your logic if a foreign country invaded the US with it's army, the constitution would forbid us from shooting at them. A person crossing a border without permission is an invader.

Only a democrat would see the problem of children raising children as a plus for society. But that is really because you see no problem with government taking from the producers to give to the non-producers. The fact is that out-of-wedlock births contribute significantly to crime rates, drop-out rates and welfare rates. The young mothers are children themselves and not adept at raising kids. That is grossly unfair to the newborn child.

I'm sure we extend the constitution to all of the people in the country, once they get here. It is the civil thing to do. But as one of the other posters pointed out. Entering a country illegally with the intent to defraud and pillage the people by obtaining a job illegally, not paying taxes (not true in all cases), obtaining healthcare at the cost of others (ER still has to see everyone), and then shipping the earnings home instead of spending them locally.... That's an invasion or a fiscally terroristic act (yes I am reaching) Therefore you are entering my country with the intent to do harm.. you are an invading party constitution no longer applies..
