It should be Rio because South America has never hosted the Olympic Games winter or summer.. From what I have been able to read, the committee usually considers this when the time comes to choose the host city. We shall find out soon enough, I hope the committee does the right thing and picks Rio for the 2016 games.

Has anyone checked the homicide rate of Rio????? Far worse than Chicago, it pains me greatly to say. The WHO (if I remember correctly) counted 55,000 homicides (i.e. murders) in the year 2005, more than the total number of casualties in the first 3 years of the Iraq war. Beautiful city, out-of-control crime and corruption of the most violent sort.

I believe Rio would be the best place, but I voted for Chicago simply because I don't believe obama would have made the trip if he had not already negotiated away enough more of our freedoms to ensure that his trip was successful.

I never watch the Summer Olympics. I like the Winter Games better.

I voted for Brazil because they have a good economy now and would be able to build beautiful venues. Even if Obama, Jarrett, Michelle, and Oprah weren't from Chicago, I still wouldn't vote for it. But the fact that they all went and most assuredly have something $$$ to gain, I definitely wouldn't vote for Chicago.....too obvious a display of self-interest.

I chose Brazil since of the four campaigning to host, Brazil is the only country that has never hosted the olympics and I believe that may be a consideration when the IOC makes a decision. I'm hoping they are chosen since it would only be fair to give them that chance.

Otherwise, how can Barack and Michelle possibly get all of the egg off of their beautiful little faces? Who on earth would want to come to Chicago? I can't imagine anyone wanting to visit, much less a great athlete coming to play a sport. With the widespread government corruption and the crime rate, i'd want nothing to do with the place. Clearly Rio de Jainero would be the best bet.
