Would returning Polanski to California be justice served or a waste of time?

This should have been taken care of 32 years a go! The guy is now 73, you really think he will ever go to jail? Not even the victim wants him there. This is just another attorney seeking attention. Perhaps they should take on some real, up to date cases. Waste of tax dollars!

Rape, especially statutory rape, is not a crime against the victim but against society. And being a fugitive from justice is a crime against the law. And as a society, we demand that Polanski be treated just like anyone else.

Some say that as a film director, Polanski is worth more. Than what? Than the 13-year-old he raped? More than the basketball player? Or the football player who killed dogs?

Would we be having this argument if Polanski had killed someone?

I see this as another case of a famous person being subject to a different standard than ordinary citizens. If he were not a famous director, I doubt that people would be debating whether this is a waste of time. He's a child rapist and no matter how old he is or how famous he is, he should face justice for the crime he has already confessed to committing.

As of 9/28, almost 70% think that this is a waste of time. If this was your daughter, would you feel that this was a waste of time.

Justice delayed is justice denied. He raped a 13 year old girl; nothing changes that. And it is rape because a 13 year old cannot consent to have sex, especially with an adult. Nothing has changed the damage that may have been caused to that girl. This is not a victimless crime.
