Absolutely! Just as a business is only as good as its workers... so is who you are. ... you CANNOT hang with rude, dishonest, people and then say, "But I'm not like them." IF you were NOT, they would not let you "hang" with them.

I'm a firm believer that the tone and attidude of an office/business is set from the top.

Greta, I am still learning to navigate thru your site. Great poll questions thanks so much for having a variety of topics each day. I sometimes watch CSPAN late at night. Last night was the House Finance Committee bantering over the amendments (Tuesday). Rudness doesn't begin to express how our leaders in action act. It's a disgrace! Finally, I am thinking the people sitting behind our leaders might be the interns/helpers or whatever. I saw text messaging, gum smacking, and not paying attention. It would be great if you could go behind the scenes and do a show on just the interns/helpers or whatever they are called. Who trains these people? Do they have an interest in becoming someone who will someday represent us? Do they have dress attire guidlines? Rudness is apparent. It is adopted by demonstration of their leaders in many ways. I was not impressed with how our leaders were handling the healthcare amendments. There was a good deal of talk about Pharma - Greta, can you find out what that is and why we have a locked in agreement with them? Why after five years of Medical, Medicade Part D now they want to revert back to what it was five years ago of what the law was then. It sounded just like the Kennedy rule in replacing the Senate seat can't do it, but now he is gone in his memory let's change it back. What are these people doing to us?

If I hang out with a person who shoplifts, that doesn't make me responsible for their shoplifting. I'm only responsible for my OWN behavior. This question misses the mark. People need a serious course in personal responsibility; logic: what causes what.

I had a Yes vote. I strongly believe that many politicians are rude and they hire people like them so they can justify themself. One of your wrighter wrote about a shop lifter. I look at it this way that person who acompany a store theve that person is equally responcible.Why? There are issue of MORALITY vs LEGAlITY.I have a quwstion that people supported Nazi killing the Jews-------are they forgivable? I am not stupid-----I can think. While I do believe that people who are rude, foolish people affects those around them, I also believe that rude, foolish people are responsible for their own behavior. No excuses.

You are responsible for their conduct in spite of their personal proclivities because you put them in a position that demands your trust. If you, who hired them, can't expect their best behavior, why are your constituents expected to believe in your judgement?

Selia, you would have to be up front with your shoplifting friend and let them know you object to their criminal habits (if they aren't mentally ill-kleptomania is an illness). Yes, any boss or leader, or politician is responsible for the behavior of their staff, employees. I can always tell what kind of manager a store has by the attitudes and behavior of the employees.

Same for medical offices. Office workers, nurses, techs, etc., are a reflection of the doctor/doctors who are the head honchos. Jerk doctor usually has jerk staff and vice versa.

Apparently Max Baucus of MT should be putting his democratic liberal staffers through some customer service training. Calling today to register a complaint that the Senate Finance Committee was refusing to make the Baucus Bill public 72 hours prior to a vote, I was appalled and shocked to find myself being questioned by a staffer in a rude and ignorant manner.

This young person challenged my rights as a citizen to view legislation and have reasonable time to contact my legislator. He said it didn't matter if I had time to read the bill (and I guess my representatives) if I didn't want this healthcare bill anyway. He accused the media and (derogatory words) tea party goers of spreading untrue information (i.e. that Americans don't want this healthcare jammed down our throats).

When asked why they were in a hurry given that the legislation won't go into effect until 2013, he said they were running low on political capital and had to hurry given the momentum. When I stated the momentum seems to oppose it, he said, exactly and that is why they have to do it now. He said even if they lost political capital it didn't matter because they would have it done. He tried to justify why there was no tort reform in the bill and when asked if the bill addressed the issue of illegal immigration and the drain on our healthcare system from use of emergency rooms across the country for free care, he proceeded to explain that Mexico has national health care and illegal immigrants do not come here for health care (although he first tried the tired argument of what should we do turn them away...seeming to contradict himself again), that our country will be primarily hispanic by 2050, that our teachers should teach Spanish speaking kids in Spanish (I guess the English speaking kids don't matter.....they're just an inconvenience, as is the fact that according to this staffer, all our teachers must now also be Spanish speakers), our kids should have to learn Spanish, and guess what, it doesn't cost much for the government to print out everything in multiple languages (wow, I wonder where they get their discounted printing done??). Interestingly, he then said he chose not to learn Spanish but he could have. He also stated he had no children and probably never would. Poor

I was appalled that as an American citizen, I was treated to such rude behavior by a staffer in the Senate Finance Committee and apparently was lied to as well since you have covered on your show that the whole bill is indeed not available to be read. I could not believe the "you don't matter because you don't agree with us," attitude that this staffer communicated, not to mention that he believed it was okay to treat an American citizen exercising their right to question their government in such an extraordinarily inappropriate manner.

Please consider calling the Senate Finance Committee tomorrow. In addition to registering your complaint, perhaps we can help educate this man regarding citizen's rights, not too mention some basic phone manners. (Oh, I almost forgot. I also got told that perhaps we should all speak Apache out here in the west since English wasn't the first language spoken on our continent. Not sure where this guy went to school...the land of apologizing for America or the land of lollipops and gum drops.)

Greta, Although not an excuse one will have to remember the staff persons are very protective of their bosses. Their bosses provide their paychecks and references. Unfortunatley this leads to rude behavior. REMEMBER THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE JUST ONE ANSWER
