I think it would also be interesting to hear how many moms set aside one day per week as designated "laundry day" & how many toss a load in to the washing machine on any given day as needed (which it what I do -- with 8 people in the house, dirty clothes would fill the laundry room & I could not get to the washer/dryer if I saved it all for one day).
I have three baskets, darks, whites, shirts. When one fills up I put on a load. Saving it all for one day is too overwhelming. I think I would look at the pile and crumple in a heap :-)
We do 3-4 loads a day. Colors, lights, and whites. I have laundry lines so it saves my dryer a bit. We have a front loader, what a wonderful invention! I have shelves to put each person's clean clothes on and they come down and pick it up themselves. Saves me from having to take it all back up two flights of steps once it is all done. Pretty good system.
I was surprised when I thought about it! This year our oldest moved to college and DH has taken a job 3 hours away, so he lives there during the week. Bdefore this happened, we were doing 8-10 loads/week, due primarily to all three kids in club sports. With only the two girls and myself at home, and only one of those doing club soccer; We really only do 3 loads per week. (Also helps that the clun player changed clubs, so we don't have all the orange uniform parts to be washed seperately!).
