Nature has its own deal of expertise in handling things. somethings appear to us as different frm last 2 centuries but what abt data, prior to that... ideas hav changed since hv read "State of Fear" Crichton

Global Warming is something that we must believe. Hey, why should we not believe it when we're feeling and observing it pretty clearly?

My Vote goes to YES.

Global Warming is a hot topic now. It CANNOT be ignored, the signs of global warming are too evident to be ignored. Immediate action should be taken.

Developing countries should step forward and take the responsibility and support the developing nations. It is in our hands, if we do not stop it now, there will be nothing to stop later...

Are there actually people who still believe that global warming is myth? How much more proof do you really need? Some high ignorance out there apparently.

What i can't believe is this poll. Global warming isn't anything that you can believe or not believe. It's a FACT that is happening, like it has been happening in a lots of periods in the history of Earth, and we can't stop it. What we can discuss is the way we are handling it, which is probably the worst right now. That is we have to change, not discuss whether global warming is true or not.

I believe there is a global warming. But, there are many dimwits who accuse the industries and people as a whole for global warming. I say... NO NO, Big NO! For more information, do watch Penn & Teller's Bullshit: Environmental Hysteria episode. More than that, I did a case-study assignment for my university coursework where I found a lot of journal papers and research which trashes this crap that "Man-made disaster" is Global Warming!

Global Warming is highly provable. Whether or not it's man made is the question that needs asking.

2009-09-21 17:40:08 ET

The question should not be whether we believe in global warming -- the facts are incontrovertible. But the real question is do we believe that humans are contributing to global warming? I believe we are, and that makes it our responsibility to change our ways.

The first sign that people don't want honest debate is that they suggest the other person is ignorant of the facts. The facts on any subject can be interpreted differently -- In the case of global warming it is hard to argue that the world is not getting warmer -- considering the fact that thousands of years ago we had an ice age where all of North America was covered in ice. The fact that it is warmer is obvious. That is like trying to deny that Niagara Falls is not moving further back into the Niagara River every year.
The issue I have is the way people are using this subject to try and control other people’s behavior. For example , “Cash for Clunkers” was promoted as an environmental solutions to global warming – Yet in reality it caused more damage to the environment by causing the destruction of perfectly good automobiles – Reuse is the number one way to resolve pollution by creating things that can be used over and over again. The same is true with the elimination of the candescent light bulb – The replacement is full of mercury – a metallic element that we know is toxic. We may burn less fuel with the new light bulbs but we will kill more people and animals with the offset.
My point is that you can have a reasonable debate, only when people act reasonably. There are choices to be made and every choice has good and bad consequences -- people do not chose to do bad on purpose. No one wants to destroy the environment we just have different priorities on what to save.

You have to go back and read more on earth cycles, because we are going though a cycle. When I was growing on in the 60's the said we were going into a ice age.Well there were companies making money on that. And now we have people making money that is scaring people now.Now you need to look at the one person that has made millions on false statements and misinformation and that is Al Gore and other people and companies that are makeing money off of you with scare tactics not only the adults but to our kids

2009-09-21 19:19:34 ET

Ok... We will die. Face the fact that some humans are stupid. They will take action when we have eaten the last fish and desolated all the ranforests. I just hope that some day they will understand that money cant be eaten. It's very likely that some part of the global warming is taking part naturally, but it has never gone so fast as now, which means that something isn't right. Something has changed. Anyway our lifestyles dosen't exactly synchronizie with the nature living, witch we all know. But sacrifices for the nature, our home, is obviously to much to ask for.

Global Climate Change isn't something that you believe in. It's not like we are talking about the Easter Bunny. It is something that is occurring without a shadow of a doubt. Not "believing" at this point is just ignorance.

Global warming is happening, but not as bad as our media makes it out to be. An Inconvenient Truth exaggerated many of their points, and it's not possible for me to trust our mainstream media, so I have done further research. I have found that Lunar warming is also occurring, and both Mars and Venus are warming as well. I believe the main cause is the Sun becoming warmer, as do many respectable scientists. I'm not implying that humans are not adding to it, but I am suggesting that it is inevitably going to happen. I do support the idea of going green, but for other reasons than global warming. The best thing you can do is educate yourself by looking into as many different sources as possible and forming your own opinion. Peace

P.S. Global Warming misconceptions made Al Gore wealthy. He now owns multiple private jets - hypocrite.

I wish that I had invented 'global warming'. I might be rich today, like Al Gore and all the other opportunistic profiteers who are fattening their already well-padded bank accounts.

Weather happens. Climate happens. Global warming, it's not just for assholes anymore.

Just about the time you think you have enough to deal with, along come uber-ninnies with another hairbrained scheme to create some urgent matter, a manufactured crisis that compels all beings to a 'common cause.'

Global anything is disgusting. Take care of your own community, country, whatever it is that makes you feel like you're a part of it. I want NOTHING to do with California, Venezuela, or Jordan. There's no animosity toward them, they are just not relevant to life where I live or how I live it.

Globalism is just another liberalism for socialism. That stuff is NOT welcome in the United States.

If you want to make the world a better place, extinguish the United Nations. Scorch the earth where the building stood in NYC. Excavate that sullied soil and use it for backfill on the mass graves of Saddam Hussein's countrymen.

And, do have a sunny day!

The term "global warming" can be misleading and most that claim that it doesn't exist use the lower temperatures in some areas as proof. The correct term is "global climate change", so some areas will have lower temperatures and some will have higher. Just look at the arctic ice melts... that doesn't happen because the temperature is lower or the same and who can believe that we can dump all the pollution into our environment and not have an impact. Basic science tells you that when you mix in a new element you change the make up and function of the item you started with before adding that new element..... be it for the good or bad.

I find interesting the adamant claims that global warming exists. Since even the most horrible claims about global arming show only a degree or two of change, how can all these people KNOW it exists? Not by doing any research, that is clear. There have been several hundred scientists who have made all sorts of claims concerning the issue, almost all placing the entire blame totally on mankind, especially on corporations. Okay, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and allow that there are maybe a couple thousand scientists who have gone on record that there is such a thing as global warming. But there are over 31,000 scientists who have gone on record claiming either there is no global warming or that global warming is a planet thing and not a civilization thing.

So the Greenland glacier is getting thinner. But it is also getting wider. There is almost no difference in the amount of ice (tonnage) over the past 20-30 years. Those who claim Greenland is "proof" of global warming are intentionally misleading the world by NOT mentioning the rest of the story.

Every temperature study over the past 5 years has shown that the ambient temperature around the world is actually cooling. But no global warming "scientist" mentions those studies.

I guess if Al Gore says it enough times it is supposed to be fact. But no one here mentions anything but opinion. I know everyone has one, but onlyh opinions based in fact have any relevance to anyone other than the one talking.

And the Al Gore crowd has so little fact that it is embarassing.

Did you know that in the United Kingdom, they cannot even show Al Gore's movie in the schools unless it is first disclaimed as a work of fiction?

Watch The Great Global Warming Swindle-BBC and then tell me what you think!

Let this bit be an introduction:
''Those who think global warming is a natural process point to the fact that in the last 10,000 years, the warmest periods have happened well before humans started to produce large amounts of carbon dioxide.

A detailed look at recent climate change reveals that the temperature rose prior to 1940 but unexpectedly dropped in the post-war economic boom, when carbon dioxide emissions rose dramatically.''

The emotions behind Global Warming are really interesting. I have discussed before the seemingly constant need for humans to believe that there is an 'end of the world' scenario just about to happen. See: http://trampolineman.wordpress.com/2009/02/18/is-global-warming-real-or-a-human-need-for-an-end-of-the-world-story/
I remember well school projects on the overpopulation problem in the 1970's and this weekend a woman told a story to me of being in class in 1984 and everyone putting their hand up in response to a question about 'will the world end by nuclear war?' Is Global Warming just the next one?

@Carmen
The Great Global Warming Swindle was shown on Channel 4 in 2007, and was immediately castigated for misleading the public. The British broadcasting regulator received no less than 265 complaints about the programme, including a 176-page detailed complaint co-authored by a group of scientists.

The Independent's analysis of the film described it as 'flawed with major errors' (see this link:)

2009-09-22 13:57:09 ET

I know I was exaggerated a bit''. I don't know if Global Warming is a natural process or cost by us humans (or both) beacause I'm not a scientist and all the different facts can be confusing to many people. But going green is the right way no matter what happens.
