Peanut needs to shut and build houses. He's a worse bigot than anyone I know.
Racism is still alive and well in this country and sadly we refuse to acknowledge it publicly because we are afraid of the repercussions. When it come to racism in this country the majority of us would rather throw a rock and hide our hand instead of confronting the situation. Until we recognize this problem and take steps to diffuse it, racism will continue to be a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. President Carter is a big man for acknowledging the fact that this current president has been constantly bombarded with undercover racial prejudices. He is also right when he speaks of so many people who feel that a black man ought not to be president of these United States. The response by white males of President Obama is classic and can be easily explained by the 5 stages of loss identified by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. We are now witnessing stage 1, where white men begin to realize they are losing their preeminent position in American Society. They grapple with how a black man could ever become president in their country and seek comfort in denial and isolation. This stage is signified by a complete disregard for facts. Next comes anger, which is what Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are presenting in most obvious fashion. Stage 3 involves bargaining, where white men will try to regain control. The Republican Party as a whole is in this stage, because party leaders realize that unless they figure out how to make the tent larger, the party will be in permanent minority state. In stage 4 they will go into depression, dominated by sadness and regret. Lastly, in stage 5, there will be acceptance. Finally, once it is too late to change anything, white men will accept the facts. This period will bring great calm. President Obama has identified that we are a rapidly changing society, and with this change comes great anxiety. Taking topics like these head on is exactly what a great leader does, and I look forward to his guiding us through all stages. Right now President Obama is treading the issue of racism very lightly, but I we can rest assure he too will have to accept this sad fact and confront it face to face.
we can see you are on the wrong side.
just you saying mr. carter need to shut up we know you have racism in you.
racism is very much alive and people or feeding on it.when you have rush limbaugh say he hopes the president fails ,that means he hopes the country goes under because of what??in the year 1999-2000 they threw out thousands of mostly black votes in florida and there was nothing done.now let me say all whites aren't racist but a lot of southern whites are and if it wasn't for blacks and whites standing up to the old jim crow laws I believe that some whites wouldn't mind still having slaves in the south.ITS GOING TO GET WORSE BEFORE ITS GET BETTER BECAUSE WE ARE BEING TESTED AS A NATION AND ALL EYES IS ON THE PRESIDENT.I APPLAUD HIM BECAUSE WE ARE GOING DOWN A ROAD WE HAVEN'T BEEN DOWN AND EVERYBODY KNOWS CHANGES WILL BE MADE AND WE ALL MUST SACIFICE SOMETHING.BUT RACISN IS HERE AND IS BUILDING .WE JUST NEED TO GET BEHIND OUR PRESIDENT AND LET IT BE KNOWN WE ARE NOT GOING TO LET OUR COUNTRY GO UNDER BECAUSE OF RACISM, PEOPLE LYING ABOUT THE FACTS AND NEWS MEDIA BEING BIAS. LOVE YOU AMERICA AND I HOPE WE CAN BECOME ONE
When all else fails blame the race card. That is not the reason people disagree with Obama's programs. They disagree with the ideas themselves, not the man. Does that mean we have to accept everything he comes up just so we won't be called a racist. That's absurd.
I am tired of everybody trying to make everything racial. There are good and bad white people and black people. We all need to stop name calling. The man that said that's a lie just showed the whole world that he was low class and does not need to be in the position he is in. He makes other white people ashamed of him and even if he is not racist he is a smart mouth and causes racial tention. He need to lose his job!!!!!!
I agree with disgusted. Everything is not racial and the racial card needs to stop being pulled for every little thing. We all have the right to diagree with Obama that does not mean we are racial. I have never agreed with EVERYTHING a president has said. But I also agree with White Woman that the remark that's a lie was showing that individuals disrespect for our president. He did not behave in the manner someone in his position is expected to act and the majority of the citizens of the US are disgusted by his actions.
Obama is a well educated man and presents himself well. We do need to be behind our president but if we disagree with him we do have the right to speak up that is part of being an american. However, that Representative did it the wrong way which made him look bad. Racism is alive and prichett, kimbrough, and bryant above should not be judgmental of other racist because they are clearly racist themselves. The news and TV are also promoting racism because that is all you see on TV is shows about how the blacks were mistreated. Yes, they were mistreated. but if you go back to what Martin Luther King said you don't sterotype people you judge them based on their own personality. Obama carried himself very well while being verbably attacked. Every single one of us that makes racial comments such as some of the ones above need to to realize they are not helping the situation. We all need to look at ourselves and realize that we are all created equal in the eyes of God. Black History was AWFUL but it is History and should be looked at that way. It is time we all move forward as americans not as Black, White, Mexican etc. The respect I have for others is not based on the color of their skin but the purity of their heart and mind. I am White, I voted for Obama because I have faith in him but if I disagree with something he says that does not mean I am racist.
First of all, I would like to respond to abc, I am sorry if my comments appeared to be racist to you. I assure you and anyone else who read these comments that I am not racist nor am I insinuating that all people are racist. I am merely pointing out that this is a racist nation and we are too afraid to deal with it or admit to it. Maybe you are not racist, but I assure you that you know many many more who are racist and you know their actions and words spew racism at the highest level. President Jimmy Carter recently made comments regarding race in this country and particularily the south, many people were offended by his remarks and stated he was wrong, but if we look at the big picture he was right and he had the gall to admit it publicly. Even as you look at some of these comments, people are reluctant to give their names because they do not want others to know how they really feel. Reactions and responses such as these are what I base my comments on. As I stated before, we need to get real and be real, we need to confront this ever growing problem before it get out of control. Isolated incidents fuel these assumptions of racism, some of these incidents are so blatant that we can not dismiss them, we must accept them for what they are worth. Judge Lamd stood up and made a very sound decision against those Army officers who opposed the President's citizenship, this woman undermined many people when she made that assumption. As the judge pointed out, a middle schooler knew that anyone running for the highest office in this country would be thoroughly checked out by the authorities. The sadness of that situation is those officers were not the only people with those thoughts against the president, there are many more people who feel the same way as she does. It is pitiful and sad. So before any one call me or my comments racist use your own name and stand behind your comments. You may not agree with me at this time, but as I stated before I assure you that this country will eventually confront and I hope and pray resolve racism in this country. Sometimes the truth really really hurt, but reality is just as painful.
Yes, I totally believe it was racism. Since Obama has been president I have seen so much ignorance due to his nationality. He has done so much good for us. I didn't see any of the other president's doing as much as he has done for us. I agree 100% with Mr. Carter! The south is still very racist. Not only are they racist against his color, but also against mixed couples. Our forefathers faught against racism and we won the war so they need to get educated and get with the new century. No one race is better then the other. God made everyone equal, we all bleed the same color. We are one nation under God he made us all!!!!!
Here we go again. Pull out that race card and try to win the debate. The coloreds in this country need to accept that they are the lowest ones on the "totem pole". All of the other races on Earth are not "whining and complaining" all of the time. They understand that WORK is not a dirty word!!!!
Obama was elected through fraud and trickery. He could not run a KFC right. He does not belong in the White House, but I believe that God put him there to show everyone once and for all, that a colored boy has no business in a management position. The sad thing about it is, he will get people killed needlessly. He has no common sense. He hasn't got a clue about world politics, and right now Korea, Iran, Russia, and China are taking advantage of that.
Obama is a worse liar than Bill Clinton, period!
Poor old Jimmy Carter is only trying to make sure that when he dies, the coloreds will help build a monument to him. Jimmy Carter needs to be in a nursing home.
Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against the coloreds except that 99% of them are whining and complaining all of the time. If the colored boys and girls would not get liquored up, behave themselves, stay away from the drugs, not pop babies out every nine months, and stay on their side of town, I would accept them better.
They would help themselves better by working harder, behaving, and quit causing trouble.
But as it is now, they are creating a lot of animosity towards themselves by believing that they are equal to the other races.
Jimmy Carter is hurting them by "stirring them up".
Is Kanye West a racist? Does disagreeing with someone of the opposite race make you a racist?
It was okay for Bush, Clinton, or any other president to get slammed, but with obama, disagree with his policies and you're a racist,(that's total b.s.) What it really amounts to is the white person isn't allowed to even "think" about the 1st amendment. Obama is destroying the constitution and now he's saying we need to "revise" the bill of rights, actually, what he's saying is, do away with the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments so his "civilian military can assist him in his dictatorship. Can we spell ...gustapo,...kgb ???
There no question that his outburst was in fact wrong, but for someone especially a former President saying the outburst was racial, is clearly out of line. To me it seems like there’s more and more people that are saying anyone who opposes or questions Obama’s policies is now considered a racist. This does not sit right with me and should not sit right with everyone else. How Americans are supposed to exercise their rights to dislike or like policies that one president is putting on the table, when someone who is not for the policies are considered a racist? So no I cannot say that the outburst was racial and Carter should be ashamed as a former president to even make such a statement.
