Holy Savior Menard has put together a Drum Corp. that is pretty good and the school is very excited about the future. Just a bunch of guys, mostly seniors, that have some musical talent having a great time. They are worth watching

As a citizen of the United States, I am proud to announce that Holy Savior Menard Central High School has reinstated the schools band, Eagle Core! As a boyscout, i have learned to appreciate the simple things in life, and this brings pure joy to my heart. As President of my sophomore class, I see real leadership in these men. Every time that they perform, a sense of pride overwhelmes me. These men exhibit the greatest quality of people today. As a student of Holy Savior Menard, I am proud to call these guys my friends. Go Eagle Core 2009!!!!!

Being Head Drum Major of the Grant Cougar Marching Band I say that Grant deserves it because we are composed of mainly freshman but we have been sounding good especially with the transition to a new director. We are small but strong. I look foward to meeting the leaders of Menard Band on Friday.

I am the one of the bass drummers for Menard and the fact that we are a new band that has been together for 3 weeks and already knows 7 songs we are more than deserving of the title "band of the week"... who's with me?

Don't get me wrong I'm in no way saying that Menard has a bad band. I'm just saying that I beleive we too deserve this title seeing as we work hard and have a lot of commitment for such a small band. And to know seven songs after three weeks is great and I really am looking forward to seeing the band on Friday. I also think that this would really help our band's self-esteem and get more support for our band program at my school.

I've yet to see Menards band and I'm sure they're great but my vote is on Grant. Straight 1's last year, with a band director of only 2 years, that says alot about musical talent for the band

Menard does not have a band director at all... we simply have a teacher sponsor that supervises us and we write all of the songs we perform.

Well, for being put together on the spot and not even having a sponser for the first week, the menard students' talent is legit obviously. They write all their beats themselves. The band is entirely student run with an adult advisor. Eagle "core"hands down deserves title of band of the week because what turned out to be a make-shift group for fun, has turned out to be a seriously talented band.

ok to start this off Eagle Core deserves that title because just a few students took apart a drum set and wanted to bring it to a game. Then shortly after the eagle core was born, just a few students and some drums. they then write their own beats. they have no band director or anything. they started themselves and run themselves. they kick some serious ass

I don't know who u are cheez, but the eagle core is number 1!!!!! They are the best thing that i have ever heard and everyone knows it. Grant ain't got shit on us.

I think that the fact that we were able to get word out and drastically change the vote count means that we are an awesome band and that we deserve this award, it defintely shows how committed the members are.

as one of byrons friends and a member of the Grant High School marching Band i too say that i'm truly impressed by the amount of freshman we have in our band and to still sound so good....

Byron, Grant does not derserve to win. Considering our support from the student body, lack of actual "drumline quality" equipment, and absence of a conductor(much less a music period), the Eagle Core clearly deserves to be Band of the Week.

I beg to differ. You don't know what exactly we have been through so you cant accurately say wether we deserve it or not. And Menard probably does deserve it, but we do too. We may not sound as good, I dont know because I have not heard Menard play yet, and I am looking forward to it. But what I do know is that we deserve because we sound good for our size and we are committed. Most of all wether any one else likes how we sounded we have fun because we are a family. We also show respect for other bands.

For all of you who think that Yucker Baker is Tucker Baker, its not. It was meant as a joke and Tucker started freaking out about it. So it was not Tucker Baker. But anyway, go Menard....so much better than Grant.

As a student at Grant, of course my vote goes to them. I adore my school and have many friends in the band, two of which have posted on here already. Grant deserves the title of Band Of The Week for all the reasons Byron has listed. We have mostly freshmen on our drumline and yet, to hear them play, you'd think they were seniors. And I hope we do have a drum off. It will be interesting to watch. I look forward to seeing the game on Friday.

Menard kicks butt in everything else. But I'll be honest, they ain't got sh*t on that grant high marching band. I saw those guys perform a lot last year, and they put the meat on the bone!! My vote is for grant. Now the football game, that's a different forum.

I honestly feel that Menard deserves the award, I mean this band was put together in less than 8 hours, and well they have played at 3 games and 1 pep rally and these guys are awesome. As one of the lead E.D.'s of Menard's drum line, I think we deserve band of the week by far brotherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

UHHH, mr James we are not a bunch of Preppies. Just because our parents love us enough to send us to private school does not mean you can call us names.

I think Menard has a more talented band, because of the time Eagle Core was put together. 8 HOURS!! OH and we can carry more than just a beat, their music inspires people to do things. We had 4 interceptions against Buckeye, and 3 against Bunkie. WHY? Because of Eagle Core!!

This is getting ridiculous,the way I see it,both may deserve it.Menard may be new but that means nothing in the long run,who cares if you guys just started,that doesn't make you amazing and awesome and better then anyone else,especially if your not good at all.We should no sympathy or mercy.And Grant may have been around for a while but that doesn't mean they're the greatest.They do have alot of new freshmen though and it's hard to get them going with no previous experience but they're doing exceedingly well and Menard,you guys are only bragging and stuff but do you have the means to back up your word or are you just big talk?If you ask me,I don't think you guys should be saying anything until you know your good.It's amusing that you have to badmouth Grant who is being supportive of you just to make yourselves feel big and bad.Back it up or shut up.Prove your good before you say things like that.

James, you can't automatically assume that all menard students are preps. Sure some have the really nice cars, but most don't. And yea you guys are all dedicated and you practice all summer but you really dont sound as good as Menard. Menard's band is great but the best part about the band is the E.D.'s. I've never seen people so sick with the tools or quick to fix a drum. I guess thats why they cant keep the ladies off. so rad

Okay now listen yall! Grant has a booty kicking band. At the District Marching Festival, Caldwell Marching Festival, and the NSU Marching Festival they got superior. Which I can say IS the HIGHEST rate you can get! Our drumline is beast. Yall Menard people are just too competitive. Yall probably never even heard Grants band play before. And before this Band of the Week thing i never knew that Menard even had a band. So yall need to stop trash talking and judging Grant just because yall "think" that yall are "better" than us. Im a Freshman at Grant and I LOVE it there. Everyone makes you feel welcome and we act like a family. I would rather go to Grant than Menard any day. All I have to say is that Grant had a FANTASTIC band and yall can just find that out tomorrow night! Heres a reminder: take a walk in our shoes before you judge us!

I am so glad that there are people here who understand what this is all about. Thank you anynomous, diehard4menard, cheez, and dalton and whoever else has shown that its not how much you diss other bands or how you good you make your band sound. Also this is in no way an accurate representation of how good a band is. But we will see how good each band is friday, but even if Grant doesnt win I know that they will be cool about it and still have fun doing what they do.

Nice to see some people with the right attitude. And honestley this no representation of which band is better. But it is great that both bands got so much support. I look forward to seeing both bands, it will be entertaining.

Grant is soo much better than menard they work harder and isnt a bunch of preppy wanta be show band, they got straight 1s at nsu, the "CORE" (catchy, makes u sound like u kno wat ur doin) would get laughted at. grant is mostly freshman with a teacher who never taught before.....and kan make menard cry even with their "seven" songs thats probably so dirty u kant tell what the song is even goin for

the problem is u dont know wat to look for in a drumline, not just a beat theres stick heights, rudiments, doubles, spacing, TIMING, drum heights, stick control, stick grip and, of course cleaness......if one person is playing a paradiddlediddle (rudiment) at one speed and the othr person at a different speed or spacing, then its not together (obviously)... it should sound as one drum thats perfectly in sync.. not "oh theyre cool because they can go boom tap boom boom tap" <--lol

alritey guys well obviously we have a heated discussion (on menard's part) about band of the week.... this is just a stunt of the media to get a rise out of us. you mite be thinking oh he's just a guy from grant who is clearly making excuses for the drastic difference in votes, but im a football player not a band member i love my school and i love our band but its no reason for anyone to make all these obscene comments...... we will enevitably find out who is the best tommorow night.

i just want to say that even though we go to menard doesnt mean we are all stuck up little rich kids. not all of us say that Grant is nothing but rednecks. Maegan how could you even say that you would much rather go to menard when you have never even experienced it. our senior class is a great example of how we at as a family. we all eat lunch together we involve everyone in all our decisions. basically our class along with our school is a family. everyone really just needs to think before speaking whats on their mind.
