Artists, in order to be worth the trouble they cause society, must tell the truth - that is the double-edged sword they weild. As irritant/conscience, they are obliged to trouble the waters, ruffle the feathers, tell truth to authority, etc. It isn't always fun, sometimes fatal, nor profitable (usually) ... but it is what it is.
