President Bush vowed to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice. Eight years later, do you think that will happen?

Yes, the mission in Afghanistan must succeed

No, we missed the window of opportunity by going into Iraq

Doesn't matter, Bin Laden is irrelevant.

Bin Laden, as a target, is not as important today, this country faces more chalenges as to the welfair of its people, wheather we allow this nation to go further down the road to socialism or not, remains to be seen. The world faces the influx of radical muslems in every nation, and their peoples reaction to these radicals will determine how the world will look in the near future.

Bush failed in everything he did. That fact alone should tell us we need to get out of Afghanistan. There is no benefit in being there. OBL is irrelevant.

Some American soldier needs to pull that SOB out of the hole/cave he is hiding in and let the world see that we found him. I hope the picture that runs around the world shows him looking worse than OSM and Sadam.

Bin Laden remains a threat, and is certainly a reminder of the continued threat to our way of life posed by radical Islam. However, other threats have now emerged that are much more critical to preserving our way of life. That more serious threat is the Obama Administration, which is reducing military spending, has reveresd the plan to build a missle defense system in Poland at a time when the ballistic missile capability of our enemies is increasing, is continuing to ignore the development of nuclear weapons in Iran, refuses to upgrade our own nuclear missle arsenal, has killed the F-22 fighter, engages in ineffective dialog with North Korea even at that thrid world country re-starts it's nuclear program. We will pay a price for our self-imposed, unilateral disarmanent. Oh, I forgot, Obama is going to fix all this once he gets done apologizing for America's sins to every tin-pot dictator and despot around the world. Then, get going, Barry, we're counting on you!

We have not been attacked since, this shows that the Bush policies did work. Not like our current president who kisses muslem rear ends and bows down to our foes. Bin Laden is not important, he will get what he deserves. The American people are getting an administration that wants to weaken our military and shove us under the table, not wanting to listen to us the people. When you fight a war you do not worry about the "rights" of those we are fighting, THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS! We were attacked and now it is time for payback. Get the politicians out of the war.

Sixty five years ago the United States of America was winning a World War in Theaters all over the World. This simplistic notion that we cannot wage an effective war effort in Afghanistan as long as we are in Iraq is ridiculous. If you will recall, when we went into Afghanistan shortly after 911, we pretty well knocked down the Taliban at that time, and short of a large military invasion of Pakistan, we didn't need a 100,000 plus militry presence there. The decision was made to use special forces in smaller numbers to pursue Bin Laden rather than to invade a soverign nation who had not attacked us. I agree as long as we continue to bring down the Taliban, getting Bin Laden himself is less imporant (even though I would certainly like to see him brought to justice). Remember, we never actually caught Hitler, but I think most would agree we won that war, Al.

Kathy,

You and those who think like you are precisely why history repeats itself. You apparently have forgotten what 9/11 was like, at least emotionally.

We were attacked, not our military, not our armed soldiers...nope, those cowards attacked civilians. We did exactly the right thing in going to Afghanistan and killing those who collaberated with and supported Al Queda.

President Bush was right in what he did. I am sure that your MTV, MSNBC, CBS, ABC news hasn't reported on any of the additional attacks that were thwarted by President Bush's quick, thoughtful and forceful action...but they were real. In fact, much of the intelligence that we used to thwart those attacks came from captured Taliban and Al Queda operatives.

Our president and the democrat party will ensure that we get to relive those moments again. The Islamic radicals (some here in the Carolinas) do not believe in the same kind of peace that we do. They believe in the peace that comes when all people on earth practice Islam - or are subjugated to live their lives like cattle. The democrats in congress did everything they could from day one to undermine our efforts to protect the nation. The New York Times printed story after story to harm our efforts. Those who wish to destroy us are more than happy that our nation has bountiful supply of USEFUL IDIOTS.

Newsflash - there are bad people in the world who do not change their ways because you read a teleprompter well.

Bush's legacy is clear: Although specifically warned about 9/11, he ignores all warnings and lets terrorists kill thousands of innocent Americans. His response? Lies. His lies, in an interesting twist exposed by Joe Wilson (not the SC idiot), send hundreds of thousands of American patriots into a needless war. Instead of hunting down Bin Laden in Afghanistan, Bush send thousands of soldiers die for nothing in Iraq. At the same time, Bush steers us safely into recession. Just like he ruined every business he ever ran, he ensures that the American economy tanks. His response? Let's spend a trillion Dollars in Iraq and not ask any Americans (except soldiers) to sacrifice. He gives another trillion Dollars to rich people, still believing in long discredited trickle-down economics. Then he throws another trillion at retirees via Medicare D. Add it all up, and we went from a budget surplus under President Bill Clinton to $5 trillion in additional debt.
When President Clinton left office, the Dow was at 10,587. In eight years, Bush turned that into 7,949. Thanks to Bush's efforts we got $4 gas, a housing bust and the Great Recession. Osama Bin Laden, where is he? Oh, he is the one person in the world who made out under Bush. He's safe in Pakistan and a hero for millions of people. Gee, thanks George. You may be a nice guy, but America is glad you're gone.

The world's most famous cave-dweller keeps renewing his lease thanks to the US military. Our biggest threat is living in the White House. I think my dog is more American and knows how to act as one.

Yeah, its all Bush's fault. Recession? Bush's fault. Collapse of the twin towers? Bush's fault. Your dog died? Bush's fault. I got shorted a biscuit at the McDonald's drive through? That damned Bush must have been in the kitchen!

Get over it I.M. Dem. Your boy Barry now has all the answers, never lies and has promised transparency. Yep, as transparent as an empty suit. As someone said yesterday, 'The Emperor has no clothes!" Barry promised in an interview to capture or kill Bin Laden. What has he done so far?

A recent newspaper article described an attack in Afghanistan on a group of our soldiers. Pinned down by withering enemy fire they called for artillery. The response by our own forces; under new rules we can't do that, we may accidentally hurt a civilian. Helicopters arrived an hour late for support even though they were promised to be only 5 minutes away. Shades of Viet Nam. I remember the same crap going on over there as civilians back home determined how the soldiers at the front could conduct the war. We watched helplessly at times as our troops were being slaughtered but we were not allowed to offer assistance because we may step on "holy ground".

Enough is enough. If we are not there to win by whatever means necessary then it is time to pull our troops out. You either fight to win, or don't fight at all. If we don't have the conviction to do what is necessary then we deserve to fail and the consequences that will come with our failure. We saw congress join hands and sing and shortly after 9/11 and then splinter into a bickering group of schoolchildren. Those are our leaders. A bunch of little children fighting for their own self interests and the chance to be reelected to a do nothing job with great benefits.

Congratulations people, Democrats and Republicans alike, you voted these self-centered ego driven politicians into office and you continue keeping them there buying their lies and promises and giving them your votes. I hope you are happy with what your gullibility has gotten you.

nicknak i am with you on this one. if you decide to go to war, we use everything we have spent tons of money on to win. there is no second place and will not be one if we use everything we have. and it will not last years either. war is hell but it should be fought to win.

Mark, Bush was not right in what he did. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. You need to stop watching Cluster Faux News.

The lack of health care kills more Americans each year than September 11 did. That's the real threat to the United States.

Kathy,

I appreciate your response. But just think back to when the Germans attacked Pearl Harbor...we responded forcefully and immediately took the war to them...oh wait....the Germans didn't attack Pearl Harbor, OKAY when the North Koreans attacked Pearl Harbor...oh wait, that came later...and it wasn't the North Koreans...Well, what about when the Iraqis attacked us in 1990...oh wait, they attacked Kuwait.

My point is that sometimes defending our interests involves more than a direct attack on our formerly sovereign nation. Sometimes we have to stand up to the bullies of the world. Like we did when Clinton stood strong against the genocide in Rawanda...oh wait...he did nothing except debate the meaning of the word genocide.

By the way, I only said that he was right to go into Afghanistan, not Iraq. But since I served in Iraq, I can tell you that the news you got from ABC, CBS, etc..was full of crap. We did get to occasionally watch news while I was there and it certainly bore no resemblance to the stuff I saw.

That same media helped us to elect our first socialist president. But you probably don't remember how they all had tingles in their legs or how they NEVER asked him any questions that would have allowed Americans to look at who he really is and what his real beliefs are.

I am wondering how you will look in your hijab and burka.

Nicknak, I never mentioned anything about Bush causing the twin towers to collapse. I let the truthers and birthers get together and argue that one out. I don't have a dog, and I can't help you with your problem at McDonalds. I don't see you disputing the fact, however. Facts are stubborn, aren't they?

Mac

I.M.Dem, we may disagree on our politics but I do respect your civility, tactfulness, and thoughtful (although erroneous) arguments. HOWEVER . . . in your response to Nicknak, you state that "Facts are stubborn", and I could not agree more. So I must point out that what you said earlier is not a fact. You previously stated that Bush "GAVE trillions of dollars to rich people", which is a blatant lie. These so-called "rich people" weren't given anything; they were simply allowed to keep more of what they earned to begin with - that which was rightfully theirs as fruits of their labor. Things that are "given" by the government - such as welfare, food stamps, free housing, etc. - are given at the expense of the "rich people" which you apparently either despise or are envious of. Yes, facts are indeed stubborn things, so please get your facts straight & leave emotions out of your arguments.

Mac, there is intelligent life out there after all. Thank you. Of course, you are correct in that those who have resources have to give up some resources in order to maintain power. The role of government is to find the fulcrum. Democracy is the ideal mechanism to achieve that balance. Over the past decades the balance has shifted to the advantage of the rich. Unless we give up some resources to the masses, the masses will take the resources, and the rich will be left with nothing.
