It's unfortunate that Gov Sanford thinks that an apology is the end of this discussion about miss use and lying to the people of SC. Maybe this is a very good reason for the mix signals we send to the younger generation. It hurts at time to loose good people for reasons such as this and should have been told by his assistants to back away from doing anything such as this even on the heals of making such noise about others doing the same. What you reap is what you sew and Mrs Sanford sees much further into the future then Gov Sanford can at this point time. It will hurt more to force him out but be that as it may he should go screaming or hauler and for the remaining political service should take notice to think before you jump or talk.
Mark Sanford is still a good governor, even though he has made his share of mistakes...just like everyone else. Nobody is perfect except for one. Hang in there Mark Sanford, I'm praying for you.
Mark Sanford should leave office. His affair has hurt this state in more ways than one. He's ask for forgiveness. Why should we turn our heads to his mistakes. He broke one of the Ten Commandments, THOU SHALL NOT COMMENT ADULTERY! Instead of getting jobs for this state he felt his extra marital affair was more important.
Did anybody ask Andre' Bauer to resign after he's repeated speeding tickets???!!!! NO!! What more could be hiding???? Think about it people IF you do wrong you WILL be found out. REALLY THINK PEOPLE would our Lt. Govenor REALLY be ANY BETTER than what's there NOW???!!!!
For those who think Mark Sanford has done a good job, I invite you to view the figures on the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics website. South Carolina has been in the top ten all the way to the top four in state-by-state rankings for unemployment for almost all of his two terms, which, I might add, is more than enough time for Sanford to prove his qualifications as governor. And if that's not enough to convince you, visit the local employment security office and view the long lines...a line I hope Sanford will be joining soon.
Mr. Sanford should resign not because of the affair but because he left the state without telling anyone where he was going and without putting someone in charge. If anyone of us disappeared from our jobs we would be fired. More importantly, most of his time upon his return has been on "spin" rather than service to the the state. Apologies and explanations are fine when accompanied by humility but his arrogance diminishes any good words and acts. If he really cares about the people of the state and his family he would do the right thing and resign.
