American Idol needs a really nice upbeat person like Ellen D to replace Paula; Ellen is like the perfect fit because she will not only bring diversity to the rate dropping show but she has charisma that will bring more viewer.
We don't need any diversity on this show. What they need is someone with intelligence to choose the best performers, critique and Ellen can't do that. I think it's horrible they picked her and lessened the impact of the decisions and critiques and made the show less credible. The performers need someone who can talk to them in a professional manner. Ellen D. is definitely does not have any of those traits. I'm sure the ratings will find that out. How can you take a dumb comedian and make them blend in?

Boy, have all the crazy people joined simon in this pick? This is the down fall of AMERICAN IDOL...This will be there last season. Ratings will be so low they will need an elavator to get out of this hole.....
