Obama let me down. He just laid out a very confusing health care "reform Plan". Health care is not a true market commodity: a buyer who doesn't have to buy and a seller who has to sell. The consumer has little or no power in the health care market place and sellers don't have to sell even when you get sick and have to buy. Choices don't matter when they will still be unaffordable. The system is too complex and he supports the complexity. What a let down.

Obama either isn't being up front and honest, or he is in La La Land. Health Care reform is a disaster waiting to happen.

Another pretty speech that was devoid of fact and full of misrepresentations. For example, president says "nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have". Sure it doesn't REQUIRE the change, but the as the CBO confirmed, it puts in place a mechanism that will RESULT in the majority being kicked out of their current coverage and into the government plan. Subtle differences in wording, but entirely different result. I counted 6 similar items just as I listened. I think our elected officials take us for idiots. President's speaking skills: A+. President's honesty/policies/decisions in leading the country: F.

Obama's speach was clear to me. Yes, he may be promising alot but I think, we as a country can do this. People say that health care reform will never happen. There is no reason for this state of mind. People who say that have given up. At least Obama has not.

Joe Wilson summed up the frustration felt by millions of freedom loving Americans who fear the loss of those freedoms by another government-run program controlled by the same people that gave us social security and medicare. When government creeps into all aspects of our lives as it is attempting to do now we stand to lose what made US great as a nation our independence.......................................?

Always a studied speech giver, his speech was smoothly delivered but his detail and ability to flesh out the issues was poor. He did not give solutions, but he slapped hands of those who do not agree with him. The debate remained in the same arena. He did not address the hard issues on how to pay for the health care bill. He said what is not but did not give concrete information of how to.

I agree that Obama can give a great speech. But that is all he is about. Talking.
My pockets are emptier since he took office. Healthcare? Please...there are people that have spent their entire savings just to survive. When is he going to really do something for the people and our economy instead spending his time buying, oops, bailing out everything from the car industry, to banks, and now, our healthcare. I think we a revote, or is that revolt and take back our country.

I will only support a public health care system that ALL government employees have to submit to themselves.
They have it made and all on the backs of worker taxes.
Until then it's BS and or worse.
That's not likely to happen any time soon.

I think his talk tonight was honest and forthright.
Sometimes I think we as a country don't deserve this guy as our President. I think he speaks and acts with an honesty and sincerity that is rare for a politically elected representative.
Have we forgotten the lies, deceptions and half truths of the Nixon and Clinton type so-called leaders.
This guy comes to work everyday, does his best, and leads an exemplary life as a public figure and family man.
He's the one President I've seen in the last fifty years that doesn't seem to need this job for his own self aggrandizement.
In fact, I can see him giving it his best shot and not seeking a second term, but rather choosing to go back to a life centered around his family.

I agree, charlie varrick. Who the hell are these people? Silly me--of course it's a concerted effort by the libs to rush to fill the replies with their crapola.

Obama bombed. He was like a freshman trying to stand up to a senior.

Finally I know what the president want and not what the opposition says he wants. It looks like he wants what I want.

1. End pre-existing condition exclusion
2. Mandate health care for everyone
3. Open health insurance markets nationally
4. and the abitlity choose between a public option or a private one. (Just like when I chose to go to college. Go Rams!!!)

I'll want all four but I'll take 3 of the 4.

What Freedoms will you or have you exactly lost since Obama has become President??? The answer is NONE.

You nutbags are truly out in left field.

Nobody is going to kill your grandma. Nobody is going to force you to take the public option. NOBODY. Infact you will have more choices, especially in areas where only one provider now exists.

I own two businesses... and we have see 40% increase to our healthcare premiums in the past two years alone. That is not sustainable. I look forward to the Obama Public option. PERIOD.

As for not having enough doctors... have the govt forgive their schooling costs when they work as a public option doctor.

He did a good job. He tried to "dumb it down" a little because, frankly, it is quite complicated. I would prefer a Public Options, but a non-profit co-op will do. I went to a state university (IU), belong to a credit union only (no bank) where I do ALL of my business *car loan, mortgage and credit card) and work for a local governement unit and my husband has his own small business. What these lunatic Republicnas will not admit, but I can testify to is, without the group insurance through my employer, my husband would NOT be able to get health insurance. There would be twice the number of small businesses here in Florida too, if people could afford health insurance. Until that is available, far fewer people will be able to work for themselves, and our large corporations will continue to have a hard time being competitive. Face it, they had years to try and address this, but they would rather "Drill, baby, Drill" - in Iraq!!!!! Now move over, and let the adults solve the problem.

I was a little scared all day about the speech because the President seemed to have taken a sort of laze faire approach. However, after the speech I was somewhat satisfied but not entirely. I need the Public Option because I don't have insurance now. I work but I can't seem to afford even the cheapest policy, which by the way, for a single female of 59, is practically $400 a month with no pre-existing condition. Keep working at this Mr. President and I am praying for you and the US Congress both the Senate and the House.

I believe that this President has certainly stepped up to the challenge that was presented before him. He had the audacity to try and tackle major issues that affected millions of people. He has shown that he was sincere in his desire to reach out across the table. However, the persons such as those that have been righting some of these blogs are unwilling to listen and try to compromise. The price for this will come from the American people.

The Republican Party continues to show that they have very little interest in the middle class. There focus is on big business.

As I watched the State of the Union Address, unfortunaley I observed the great divide within the audience. The Republicans are determined to continue to try and bring our nation down. After the last 8 years, we were almost on our knees. Why won't they work together to help build a new and unified United States of America. The pettiness of some of our officials is ridiculous. These are our leaders. Their actions lead me to believe that America continues to be in big trouble.

President Obama has given 100 % effort towards reaching out to all. He is a classy man. His intelligence is second to none. He has continuously reached out for compromise. The American people have not seen this courtesy extended to him. It is truly sad. My son asks all the "mommmy, why don't they like the president?" I say to him "son, because he is trying to help "the" people."

I CHALLENGE THE REPUBLICANS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE! HELP THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY. STOP YAWNING,TEXTING AND TALKING WHEN THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS SPEAKING. YOU ARE SHOWING WHO YOU REALLY ARE AND WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT!!

President Obama has done more in the past year than some Presidents in their first and second terms. He is a true man of change! I will continue to pray for him as well as his family and the people of the United States of America. We are all one people one family. We need to make sure that all the family is taken care of.

Peace and Love
