President Obama will have Health Care passed in spite of your attempts to discredit him and the plan. Because the American people see right through this station. We know it has nothing to do with the plan, but your attempts to stop Obama. But guess what he won and so did the American people. Not the bigots that your station represents.

Ask Obama to explain his LIE about "GREEN JOBS". This guy is a propagandist with mindless people that believe his lies. What a shame!

To propose legislation you have to understand the problem, in detail. Why are health care costs raising 1) because of greed and law suits. If that's true then why not propose a tiered law suit structure and remove these 10, 25, 100 million dollar law suits. 2) Why are doctors scheduling exams and lab work needlessly because if they don't then they'll be taken to court if something happens to the patient. How about addressing that concern, I don't have an answer but just maybe setting limits on damages could be an answer, (see item #1). 3) if our representatives can't explain a proposal then don't try to explain it to the general public. One last item If your trying to sell it to the general public, are you also willing to give up your present health care for this newly proposed package your selling us the general public?

At first I thought I knew the reason that more and more Americans are against President Obama's Healthcare plan. I though the reason was because it is a fact that the majority of Americans COMPREHEND ON AN EIGHTH GRADE LEVEL. Now I know that is not the case. It is because the majority of Americans CAN NOT COMPREHEND AT ALL. With Social Security and Medicare already provided to all Americans, why not Healthcare? The people who want to protest that they don't want the government in their lives should have been protesting the Bush Administration's Patriot Act! It is obvious to me that the majority of Americans can no longer reason. Because of this, we don't have to wait for outside Terrorist to destroy this country. It is being destroyed from within by racism, hatred, ignorance and I even believe, HATRED FOR THIS COUNTRY!

do we need reform. heck yeah. but this plan is not the answer, it's just going to complicate an already overly complicated system. scrap the junk bill and start looking at where the real problems are. Very little compition amongst ins. companies and frivilous lawsuits from stupid people and even dumber layers. Remove the state line rules. get some sort of middleman in place to smack the people around for the stupid lawsuits that drive the costs up for for health care. I'd honesty rather see a few hundred ambulance chasing layers put out of work than my insurance company. once people start using a public health care, then they start suing the govt and the 1.5 Trill doller package end up costing 2 trill. that's a great legacy to leave for our children to clean up. forget the fact that obama is a douchbag, that's a given, i'd be against this idea if the Pope himself came up with the idea. It's just not going to work. had nothing to do with black/white, rep/dem or anythign else. it will kill our country along with most of the rest of the stupid stuff he's doing.

I will never support a health care reform bill that takes away my right to choose and pay for my own health care. While there is certainly a need for a program that provides good health care for those who truly cannot afford it, there is simply no logic in forcing folks on to government dependency who are capable of and want to pay for their own care. Does this so-called president and his mob expect us to believe that there is a shortage of medical resources? That pharmaceutics and related industries can't produce enough medicines and products to go around? Of course they can. That medical facilities and doctors can't handle the load if everyone has a health care plan? Of course they can, they already do. That health care must be rationed in order for everyone to get their fair share? Of course not. So why do they want all of us to be forced onto the government health system? It has absolutely nothing to do with health care or any feigned concern over poor people. It has to do with power and control. Period.

Larry, you are in a delusional state of mind. Unlike you, most of this nation thinks that this proposed healthcare is about everything BUT Obama. Put your hero worship aside, put your sense of entitlement on the back burner, and start to use your God given senses. This legislation is not good for the nation as a whole. Reform is what's needed and it should be approached in a methodical manner...piece by piece...starting with tort reform legislation and immediately followed by investigating and eliminating fraud through separate legislation. Once these two MAJOR areas are handled and unit costs as well as fraud are brought under control THEN let's work on expanding affordable (not free) healthcare to those who are currently paying exorbitant premiums as well as to those who are currently uninsured. Forget about Obama and what he wants...this is about US and what we want and what WE will end up paying for over decades and generations to come.

Gee ! FoxNews.com a 96% republican web-site is against a democrat plan !

I am shocked ! Try looking at fair polls or list all polls like RealClearPolitics.com if you want FAIR AND BALANCE, plus speaking of Fair and Balance why is Foxews not even showing President Obama's speech tomorrow. SEE THE BARBRA BUSH INTERVIEW on CNN ?

Ms. Bush said Obama is doing a GOOD job so far and that he has a lot of problems to face, she also agrees with the speech Obama is giving our kids !

FOXNEWS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING FAIR AND BALANCED !

I wonder if any of the people who are for this bill for the sole purpose of insuring people who cannot afford health insurance have ever gone to a city run hospital emergency room. People who do not have health insurance go there and get medical treatment for anything that ails them. If they cannot afford to pay, the hospital writes it off to the tune of millions of dollars a year. The taxpayers are already paying for their healthcare so why not work to straighten this mess out on a separate program and leave the people who have and like their insurance alone. We do not owe illegals free medical care which they are currently getting through the ER at city hospitals. Also eliminate the state boundaries so insurance companies can compete with each other to lower cost.

Milk and bread was 19 to 22 cents, wages were $3 to $5 an hour. No health care at all. Along come unions and insurance. Ah-ha, the lawyers see another way to make money. (Tort reform). My point, everything goes up. Look at your pay stubs. Minimum wage is higher than their wages were. You know who is going to pay this health care! TAXES. Look at your pay stub now, It's less. How are the really needy people to pay for health care? Unemployment is running out of money. How are these people going to pay? Obama and his gang are so busy trying to make a name for themselves through health care the economy is going to pot. If you do not have the money, how can you spend it? Quit chasing your tail, wise up, and get this country going again.

When a person or child without health insurance goes to the hospital and is treated or operated on or whatever, who do you think pays their bill. YOU DO!! You will either pay now or later. That is why we need health care for all Americans. You are going to pay one way or the other.

Obamanation might not take our guns away, but he will make it so difficult for us to get or even use our guns through regulation or tighter contorlls, that the 2nd ammendment will be useless. no way on earth is someone going to break into my house with my wife and kids and walk away from it. nor is any govt. body going to walk into my house and take them away from me.

PARIS, France (CNN) -- Former first lady Laura Bush praised the performance of her husband's successor Monday, breaking with many Republicans in telling CNN that she thinks President Obama is doing a good job under tough circumstances.

The typically reserved former first lady defended Obama's decision to deliver a back-to-school speech to students, putting her at odds with many conservatives afraid that the president will use the opportunity to advance his political agenda.

"I think he is [doing a good job]," Bush said when asked to assess Obama's job performance. "I think he has got a lot on his plate, and he has tackled a lot to start with, and that has probably made it more difficult."

Michelle Obama is also "doing great," she said, in part by turning the White House into a comfortable home for her family. Watch more of the interview »

Referencing the uproar over Obama's address to schoolchildren, which will be aired nationwide Tuesday, Laura Bush said it's "really important for everyone to respect the president of the United States."

Bush indicated that she didn't think it was fair for Obama to be labeled a "socialist" by critics and expressed her disappointment with the intensely polarized nature of contemporary American politics.

Best in us history? are you freaking kidding me? Has anything he has tried succeeded yet. stimulous...failed miserable. cash for clunkers.....sure lots of cars sold to americans, but the dealers are still waiting for their money....failure. these so called czars.........loons and failures. health care will be his latest failure if it passes. debt will skyrocket, insurance companies will go under, small business will dry up because they will be the ones funding the stupid thing, unemployment will go way up, because of small business drying up (they do employ more than half of americans by the way) and whos left to clean it up? the next guy after obams one and only term is finished. don't blame this on bush, that's old news. sure bush caused some problems, i'm not going to deny that, but this started years back under sever other presidents, dems and repubs combined. we need to foget the blame game, there is too much to go around, and start working on a REAL solution for REAL problems. he's not doing that at all. He's causing way more problems that will make it nearly impossible to clean up.

Pathalogical lier? wow, you are really are blind and brainwashed. they haven't lied one single bit. they have just been presenting the facts that most politics are too scared to admit. Green czar.......all truth. good ridens to him. hopefully more to follow. voting on bills that haven't even been read. all truth. voting on bills that have hidden egenda built into them. all truth. but they wouldn't now because they didn't read them. finding the stimulous to somewhat lackluster in it's success (ok it's faild miserably) also truth. i see no lies to what they say. i follow the other news networks as well. they conveniently over look the obvious. It's not wonder fox ratings have skyrocketed over the past year. they are the only ones brave enough to actually say what needs to be said and do their part for this so called "change". George M. I do not advocate paying twice for people who go to the ER that do not have health insurance. I am advocating not paying as much! Even healthy young people have to go the doctor at least once a year in order to STAY HEALTHY. Healthy people and illigals are the minority in this country. The U.S. is a nation of OLDER people and we are getting older and sicker. PREVENTIVE heath care is essential. If you do not includge illegals how do we prevent more dangerous viruses from spreading and turning into epidemics in America. What will your health care costs be then? Besides, it is the large pharmaceutical and insurance companies that are against President Obama's healhcare plan. Do you actually think the American people have influence in this country? NO! First off, they didn't say most of those things, the born in us idea was never really solved because obama won't present an original birth cirt. (personally i don't think he was forign born...but that's a different story) They may not be called death pannels, but the provide the same idea as one. he does have a socialist like agend, thus calling him socialist isn't a far cry from being true. what else is social health care (social the root word is socialist/socialism) simple english. all other countries that have social health care are either of a socialist nature or are comunist. i don't like either option. he has hung out with those of a radical nature (other wise refered to as terrorist) they may not have done vile wicked harmful things, but they do believe the same ideals as those that do. i group them in the same department.

and if you are shallow enough to think that the stock market represents real success, then you are indeed ignorant. while the stock market is climbing and looking pretty decent, unemployment is going up...still..... and shows no sign of stopping. that's the true mark of success. there are only a handfull of people that are represented by the growth of the stock markent. small business is not, and that is what is getting killed and causing the unemployment to continue to rise. it is small business that still runs the country and most of it's economic success. you are so blind and shallow that you only look at the lage picture presented by the likes of the wall street journal. come out of your house, look at the real world and real people that represent the REAL America. They are not listed on the NYSE. if they were their number would be falling like rock. with more than half of the stimulous package still not even spent, i'd say it's the will and hard work of the REAL american people that have caused the market to rise, not that stupid package. it is a debacle. take the rest of the money and put it where it will actually make a difference. (like paying off debt...there's a thought.) economics 101.......DON'T SPEND MONEY YOU DON'T HAVE!!!!!! My 6 year old understands the concept. Adults in washington can't even get that concept, maybe my 6 year old is just a genious

I am disappointed in some of these comments alleging that the opposition to the Obama healthcare is by prejudiced, uneducated, anti-American, etc. people. Common sense is the word and look at history. We can't afford healthcare for all, all don't want healthcare, illegal immigrants are not entitled to free healthcare here. Healthcare can be reformed in other ways to help the people and other plans have been presented. Also, it is obvious to anyone who can read that this administration is being led by radicals. Hide your head in the sand, facts are still facts. We don't radicals in any direction running our country. It is frightening that the dictator Chavez like our current administration and even Castro likes it. Think folks, think, please. Common sense!!!

Ny sense is that the Administration and the Congressional Democrats are in such a hurry to push their plan through before the people realize what has been done to them. You can see that in the way they present their arguments that they are well aware that once the average folks figure out what has been done to them they will not support it. We gave them the message during this recess. The the Administration and the Congressional Democrats are showing this sense of urgency to get the job done inspite of the misgivings of their constituents. Our job is to prevent this "Health Care Reform", libearal style, from happening.

Dan D: I have a friend up north who has a wife who works, 2 sons (same ages as yours), also coaches little league. He has two houses (neither being rented out to others), four cars ( two are 4X4), three ATVs, ocean going boat, and 32 ft motorhome (2005 model). He is currently making payments on ALL of these items and his four (4) credit cards. He just took a $20k cut in pay and his wife has been knocked back to part-time at her job. He actually OWNS nothing but DEBT. He's upside-down in everything. He is 'living' beyond his means, going on twenty years now. My suggestion to you is to get a tighter reign on your life...be extra careful where you spend money or encumber your good credit. Lose the Disney World timeshare ASAP (run an ad for a week in the London Times)...they can't seem to give them away locally (I'm 25 miles from there). i know all about health care. i lost my wife of 38 years 2 weeks ago at age 63. as a last resort to save her from pumonary fibrosis she was helicoptered to philly from dover nj. what scares me is would she have been written off as not worth a try to save her under obama??? she was on the double transplant list at UPENN. they tried everything, but complications got in the way. would the govt. option have gone that far to save my angel. not likely, and i don't want to find out when MY turn comes..as will YOURS. You are not going to be able to get rid of the illegals in this country and their numbers will continue to grow. It is cheaper to prevent an illness than it is to treat it. These same arguments were made when Social Security and Medicare came into existance. And please identify these so-call radicals you are talking about.

George M. First of all, you have my deepest condolences and I am truly sorry for your loss. However, what makes you think that this healthcare plan will "write people off that they feel are not unworthy"? Where are you getting this from? Some Insurance companies are doing just that already!! Some companies will even drop you if you become seriously ill. This healthcare bill will allow anyone who already has insurance to keep it and give those who don't have it, a chance to get it.

2009-09-08 16:36:34 ET

James, I hope things work out for your friend. I know a lot of people in the same boat. I agree everyone needs to watch their spending habits but I also know to have success there must be some risk. People always warned be not to get married, buy a house, have kids until I could afford it. If I waited I would have been alone right know with know one to reflect my life with.

I agree everyone needs to save but if you wait until the perfect time to do something you will end up a lonely man / woman.

GEORGE M. if you look into Obama Healthcare plan you would have had better insurance, better care and cheaper cost.

2009-09-08 16:44:12 ET

The Wyden-Bennett bill is worthy of support across the political spectrum. It only requires a small amount of actual thinking to see why it would work well. Congress needs to stop blowing back and forth with the wind, and actually represent by making an effort to comprehend, intellectually, what is good reform, why and how.

Wyden-Bennett.

Jeannie,
I opposed the Patriot Act and Iraq like crazy, and I'm an Independent Conservative.
When I didn't have health insurance I (ME) paid for my hospital and doctor...one time it took me 3 years... I am my own first responder, not the government...
Every PUBLIC (not private) hospital will either pay your entire bill (up to 2 times poverty level), put you on a graduated scale or let you pay on a payment plan.
Hospital bills are just like all your other bills.
Social Security? I will have paid for over 50 years for that Insurance Plan..it sucks, too.
Medicare? If its so good, why do HAVE to carry supplemental, individual insurance?
Government has no place in any of it.
What they "give" you, they can also take away...

Not only is health care reform needed a public option is a necessity. Without the public option the health insurance industry will continue to pick the pockets of American citizens and business to the tune of 17% of GDP. Control HC costs and we are truly underway to a real economic recovery. PS- Nobody is taking away anybody’s option to chose a doctor.

2009-09-08 17:29:26 ET

Ella, You have insurance that you will continue to have and you are lucky to be able to pay your medical bills. So what is your REAL problem with this healthcare plan? Please explain to me exactly how the government will dictate your health care for you. You are allowing the insurance companies to do it! So what you are telling me is that you would rather have BIG insurances companies dictating your health care instead of the government. Now I truly understand why this country is in the shape that it is in. The American people voted for change but it is clear to me that change is definitely NOT what they really want.

The government has already proven that it cannot be trusted and it doesn't know how to run any kind of system efficiently. Look at social security and medicare/medicad, all three are either broke or will be broke within 4 years. And where in the world in the constitution does it say that the government should be invloved in the economy like this? And how could we pay for this when we already owe more than a 11 trillion dollars?

Tim

We need to scrap this healthcare plan and this administration. Based on some of the comments, America is in trouble. The United States has a bigger idiot population than I thought. Obama has been successful in decieving a whole lot of people. Have you ever heard of "a wolf in sheep's clothing"? If not, take a good look at Obama. Heavenly Father, please help this country, in Jesus Name!

2009-09-08 17:38:12 ET

Yes, scrap all (not sure how many are floating around) and start over. Let the starting point be a health plan identical to the one the Congress enjoys and go from there. Why are we the taxpayers not as deseving as a bunch of failed ambulance chasers on the public dole?

Jeannie

Sean Kimbell,

2009-09-08 18:05:09 ET

jeannie it's for that very reason that healthcare reform is not the only thing that needs reformed. we need govt. reform. we need to return this county back to a day when the govt. was OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE. large govt. historically has never worked. look at every major civilization over the past 2000 years. everytime a govt outgrows it's britches it falls hard and takes a large number of people with it. the Meads, persians, greeks, romans, germany, USSR. they all grew to the point that they fell in on themselves. America is heading that way, and when she falls, it's well be hard. be prepared. it will happen unless washington can get themselves under controll. that can only happen with the intervention of the people. not these dang freeloader that think the govt owes them something. i'm talking about the real people, the people that actually run this country, the people the pay the politicians bloated sallery, the people that pay a president. If someone were to fail at their job as our current president and other politicans are failing at their job, they would have been fired long ago. Man up america, grow some and tell them (dems and repubs) that we will not sit by, while they destroy everything that the world USED to look up to. they are turning us into a laughing stock. i guess that good side to that is, when it gets bad enough, the illegals will realize they had it better in their own country and go home. they currently run to america because we are the best nation on earth, you don't see them running to cuba or russia or even canada, the all come here because of what we have. this govt is changing all this is good.

Mr. President & Congress

I am an entrepreneur and I have a suggestion for the health care issue.
Here is a list of points to consider so that everyone in America can have equal access to the best health care in the world.

1. Get rid of Medicare and Medicaid – think how much $$ that would save!!
2. Get rid of all “Veterans” hospitals – they’ll be able to get free healthcare from where ever they choose. Sell them to private companies.
3. Assign every legal citizen in the US to one of four “tiers” of health care cost. These will be divided up by annual gross income. Lowest tier, no income, disabled (qualify by three different physicians to meet criteria), or vets. Second tier, under $25k year – pays co-pay and 50%-75% rate discount. Third tier, $25k-50k year, pays small co-pay and 25%-50% rate discount. Fourth tier, $75 >, has no discount, no co-pay. These tiers are negotiable and rates are flexible for group incentives.
4. The entire medical industry would be taxed to pay for health care. Every drug company, every medical device or piece of equipment, and every medical service would carry a tax to pay for health care, not the government.
5. Every insurance company would get a full tax break on providing insurance to anyone in the first tier. That tax break is equal to whatever each person in tier one uses in medical care each year. That is incentive to get as many first tier citizens in their group as possible. Drug companies and medical equipment suppliers would also get a tax break (or direct deduction) for the exact cost of their product or service to anyone in the first tier.
6. Any group, employer, church, government agency, can qualify for group rates through any insurance company to save a citizen on monthly payments. Rates are competitive because insurance companies want larger groups. Employers, Congress, or whomever can offer their insurance for free as part of the company plan. But, someone has to pay the insurance company for them, even Congress’ would be paid for out of the budget.
7. Everyone has equal access to treatment center, drugs, and physicians that are medically necessary. All elective products and services are absolutely self pay.
8. Incentives given for wellness programs, weight loss, long term health credits.

These are just the beginning foundational points to consider. I have a complete dissertation and would be able to help iron out the entire policy if asked.

Thank you

Ernest H. Hays – Entrepreneur (PS-these suggestions will be widely distributed)

This health care bill was DOA. It's time to scrap it and focus on Tort Reform. George Herbert Walker Bush brought that idea up in the 80's. However, I think that would be too tough of fight for congress.

In short, I like my health care coverage. I got it the old fashioned way: I worked hard in public school, then college, and interviewed for a job that had a good benefits package. That's the way we do it hear in non-socialized America.

"Obama's health care plan has been written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it and whose members will be exempt from it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is broke." Don't know who wrote this, but it says it all. SCRAP it, Write something everyone can understand, make sure everyone, including congress uses it if it is a public option.

It is time to not only look at health care but what our country is founded on, sure not what this administration has been pushing. We need to get back to where our founding fathers intended it to be. It has worked for over 200 years, yes there needs to be some correction but lets not change it just for change sake.

Obama needs to get out of the business of trying to control everything and
I would not trust him to redo this bill as he would put something in it in the
middle of the night and try and slip it in on us. He needs to get all the pork
out of the bill, OPen up competition between all health insurance companies.
Govt. has no business trying to run our health insurance, they always mess
things up when they get involved.

The Health Care Plan should be scraped. If you look at all the things going on in the White House with all of his so called czars, and there mostly a bunch of raticals. We the people would like to take our country back. As for his speech to our children in schools all over. The reason there were so many against it, was what can we do for him? not only that, but he changed his script in a hurry as soon as people found out its all a political move. Grant, Mrs Bush did say that he should talk to the children but he had to remove some wording out of his so called speech, in my opinion for it to be exceptable. Anything as important as a health care bill needs to be bi-partisan and not representative of the extremes of either party. Do people not realize that we are driving our country into communism because americans are not smart enough to see past go? Let me turn you blind people onto some real speak for a moment. Saul Alinsky wrote a little book called "Rules for Radicals". Obama was a study of Saul Alinsky's teachings and even taught community organizers on Alisnskys beliefs. Alinsky was a bleeding marxist and taught ways to hide behind CHANGE and bring forth communism/marxism. The government has proven to be unreliable in running ANYTHING efficiently. Fanny Mae, Social Security, Medicare, etc are proof that the last thing this country needs is another government intrusion into your homes. Barrack Obama is not who he says he is people. WAKE THE FK UP AMERICA before it's to late. If Obama's associations arent enought to scare you then you really are blind. Obamacare is just another attempt to obtain power. Our car industry has been intruded, banks have been intruded, healthcare will be intruded and this has been done without a wimper and if you disagree well then your just a racist bigot right? Go to wikipedia and look up Rules for radicals and you will know where Obama comes from and what he see's as the future of America. Preaching Change is not a new idea. This book is a blueprint of a government takeover and how to achieve it and these are teachings that Obama learned and taught as a community organizer. Look it up, its right on wikipedia for all to read. By the way, Saul Arlinsky devoted his book to "Lucifer" The original and most notable RADICAL of all time.

Mr. Rutland,

Obama's plan is going down so hard that Democrats are going to be jumping parties like rats off a sinking ship.

If you want to live in a socialist country you have from which you can choose. If you want health care.... pay for it-it's not tricky.

Obama and his liberal minions of Pelosi, Reid & Yarmuth do not want real health care reform to fix the current system. They want to change the healthcare system to a Government run system. They really want a complete takeover of the healthcare system which is "nationalized healthcare". Yarmuth stated on a teleconference call to democrats in Ky. in August 09 that he wanted a one payor system and the Govt.Run Option is the best way to get it. They really don't care what the people of America think. Yarmuth even stated he would vote for it even if he was not re-elected and he would consider that a "badge of honor".

face it America has never been "America" but rather a mixture of the many different cultures of the world. we have socialism already it's just that some of us are too incompetent to realize it.

the health care plan needs to start fresh. write in a language that can be understood(it was stated why read it-you only have a few hours to do this and then you need a lawyer) it clearly states in the bill that can be read online that there wil be rationing. there will have to be. there is no way that many people(not as many as stated but still alot) can be added without adding more doctors immediately. plus the cost will be tremendous. Where will this extra money come from in this economy when adding taxes will really hurt everyone. The bill needs to state that illegal aliens are to be excluded. They are here illegally and haven't contributed to the system for years like the senior citizens have. american workmen need the jobs being taken by illegals. i don't buy that americans do not want these jobs. take the time to study a good plan. why the rush.

Sharon
2009-09-08 18:39:23 ET

To reduce health care cost the government must allow the free market to work. Let people purchase health insurance the same way they purchase car insurance. This will allow the health care insurance agencies to compete nationwide. Why promote a 'Public' Government Option that only provides for one additional source when all you need to do is allow for all insurance agencies to compete across state lines. This administration wants to change from capitalism to socialism.

Some say this bill will be Medicare for all. If so -- well and good. Have they been paying into it for 40 + years if so they might have a claim to its benefits. And even after doing so my wiife and I sitll have to pay almost a $100 a month each (automatically deducted from my Social Security benefit which I paid into for over 40 years as well as a small retirement benefit) for our Medicare benefits. I am also retired military and was promised great benefits if I made it a career. Those benefits were earned at great cost (long family separations, etc. and low pay compared to the private sector and marginal health care at best which had to be turned over to medicare once I turned 65). That only reveals one thing government run options are more expensive in the long run than what the private sector provides and poor quality in the end. When all those who want a universal health care plan cough up the money (they would have paid in up to thier current age and begin paying the monthly premiums I might be willing to say they have earned such care. Until then let's just work on those things that can be done without a government take over. One thing I learned in the military is that the most permanent things where at first intended to be temporary. And besides just how stupid does our President and our legislators think the American people are? answer: As stupid as they are. Well, guess what -- we are not. Be prepared to find a new job in the real world. Oh, but I forgot you have a much better retirement than any military person could ever expect after 20 plus years and you get yours after only one term in office.

I must admit I am an idealist; but having ideals are what made our founders and others visionary people. This is how I see it.

Mr. Obama and his followers woud like to think he is the leader of this country; he is not. The people are the leader of this country; he is our servant, our employee. Just like in any other working situation: the employee is obligated to understand the will of the employer. As for me, I don't want to see this country become more socialized, I feel the people and industries can govern their lives better able to govern their lives than a tyrant who lives off the public coffers.

This health care situation is the catalyst we need to remind the world that the U.S. is a country made of free-thinking people, not the subjects of tyrants.

SA
2009-09-08 18:57:17 ET

People look at the present situation and say what should be done with health care. Going beyond the news stations and the parties do your own research. I suggest people go one to the public support sites for any major disease. Many of these sites have world wide particiapation. The people and parents join these sites for suport. I have been on one for over 9 years. What do you tell a parent that has a child that needs medical attention and needs to wait 3 months and travel to get the help. In our country even if we need change in our health care we can get in to see a Dr. or contact a MD for help. Some of these medications need monthly or sooner medical intervation if the drugs need to be adjusted or changed. I feel so much for those parents in other countries watching thier child suffer because they can not see a MD specialist until one ia available and have to travel and stay over at hotel to see the specialist. Again this is not imaginary I have seen it time and again in other countries. I know what we were going through watching our child suffer and visits to emergency rooms. Constant calls to MD for help. Getting second opions when we were not sure a specialist was available. These things we take for granted are not avaiable in other countries. Yes, we are in debt with medical bills and lost work hours. We are just getting out of our medical debt. The system needs reform and I do not thing the bill as it stands hold up enought to bring about the kind of reform we need. Yet, something needs to be done that is something mostly everyone agrees on. We seem to differ on what that is.

The system needs reform only it scares me that educated and poeple in the field can not totally understand the bill . It should be done and it was not generatedby those that undestand what type of reform needs to be done.

Sadly it hurts that the reform and the cost will only reach a small portion of the those not covered. Not to mention the cost of the bill.

Also I do know people whe do not carry coverage and do that by choice. I am not sure why because they have the money to pay for it. They see that those time they are sick they just have to pay for that session.

There is a lot to think about this situationa personally I do not think enough time; investigation; and debate was done on this bill to even fine tune the bill. Look at many of the problems found in the current government and non government systems.

Discussion is good it brings out everything to the front. I do not think it needs to go on forever only it would be helpful to debate and investigate all sides from all sides. If we agree or not what can it hurt?

Reform is needed and many of us believe that iit s needed and all sides, even us every day people have a right to a jour imput since we are paying for the bill if it passes and have voted for our representives. So they are responsible to hear imput on all sides.

Things that are hidden or are hard to understand by even educated people or those in the field are a clue that it needs to be re-addressed again. Why is debate and re-evaluation bad?

If it is good for the country then no one should be upset if it is scrutinized by others because it should be able to stand up to debate. It should stand up by the test of questions. Our past tells us we question an debate things in congress trying to get the best choice. So again if the bill is good it should hold up to debate by the country. That is demacracy in action.

I hope we can come up with something that works with out losing our rights of choice that can hold up to the common debate of the congress and the people.

I just challange people to check the truth of other health systems for themselves. Many sites have years of history availble for support and resource for its particiapants. There are many public support sites out that are availbe to check. Educating yourselves!

PLEASE! The initial constitution and the words "For the People.....etc" only meant white men who owned land (did it mean the native Indians?). That's why it has been amended so many times....to include all people. And fallen civilizations did not fall because of big government but corrupt governments that excluded the rights of its people. The majority of American people are on drugs, prescription drugs and alcohol and therefore can no longer think for themselves or REASON. So they listen to the news commentators to tell them what they should think. Stop blaming poor people, illegals or presidential administrations for the failing of this nation. Blame the mindless American people.

Reforming health care should only entail reforming the health care INSURANCE companies. They made a fortune last year, and the year before, and the year before... When my doctor coded a minor procedure (preventative tooth filling) on the insurance forms, it was rejected. When the forms were resubmitted with the SAME title but a slightly different code, it was covered. Thankfully, I had a dentist willing to resubmit a claim. Insurance companies always make plenty of money each year. Check out the endless stories on 60 minutes, etc. showing where people have been denied life-saving meds because no generic is available and the pills cost too much. Many times, people must resubmit claims and go throught endless appeals to get approved when it should have been approved at the onset. This is usually accomplished by threatening lawsuit. Don't take my word for it, ask your doctors what they think. They hate what is being proposed.

Reform needed? You bet but not the kind that is currently being proposed. Before we do anything else let them demonstrate that they can fix what's already broken; tort law, fraud and defensive medicine. If (and it's a big if) they can actually demonstrate that they've cleaned up the current mess then we can discuss other reforms and how to pay for them.

Distribution of wealth...yeah thats fair to the working class and middle class who earn there keep. It's bad enough that everything earned get's an imposed death tax. Now you want me to provide my tax dollars to people who are lazy, illegal, and others who turn down healthcare for the small percentage who can't afford it and even most of those are provided some form of care already. This country is in a sad state.

So now we are attacking the men who wrote the constitution as racist white men? Is that all liberals have left is to call someone a racist bigot because they dont agree with Barrack Ofailme. That's all i hear nowadays and it's truly sad considering that 93pct of african-americans voted for Barrack Ofailme. Obama is doing nothing but setting race relations back instead of moving them forward with his attacks on republicans and town hall protestors for not agreeing with his marxist policy's by calling anyone who disagrees a racist bigot when 93 pct of african-americans voted for him....and we are the racist? FYI check out the history of the parties both Democratic and Republican. You will see the transformations that took place over time. The parties have even changed since I was younger. What they stood for also changes. History shows the evolution of each party. I think many would be surprised at what each party believed as time went by. Sometimes we live to much in the present and we ignore our history. No one group is perfect or has all the ideas. Change can be good and bad due to evolution over time. Check it out.

We need change in health care the question is who should do the change and who is going to be responsible for that change. We the people need to do our own investigations and find answers.

The bill as it stand now has to many issue with it and needs to be changed or thrown out depending on what changes the law makers are willing to do. That could help us make a better decision on what needs to be done and we the people can live with.

Once we had the Republicans Democrats and the raciest Dixiecrats. Now we have Democrats, Republicans and the raciest Dixiecans. It is not about a health plan where all can be helped along with the system, it's not about a President talking to school kids, it is about the WASP community running the country for 400 years and really screwing it up through greed, arrogance and vanity. It is about a President who is black nad there is no way he can be allowed to succeed. Especially, he is not going to tell us whites how to raise their kids. It is all about race. the only sane Republican is Laura Bush. As for Cheney, his methods prevented no attack. Any smart person knows they can kill us in Iraq and Afganistan and build converts. . Why would they attck when they are causing us problems. Get out of those countries. The "window of opportunity" in Afganistan was in 1991. They knew an attack in the United States would bring a full effort and it would be "Remember the Maine", "Remember Pearl Harbor" all over again. Cheney and Bush blew it by forgetting the mission. Let us get real and stop all the raciest bull and get this country going again where it should be. BY THE WAY TO THE DIXICANS- BY CALLING YOURSELVES REPUBLICANS HAS LINCOLN ROLLING OVER IN GRAVE AND CRYING OVER WHAT PEOPLE HAVE DONE TO HIS PARTY THAT HE WAS KILLED BECAUSE OF WHAT HE BELEIVED. President Obama promised us several things during the campaign; one of them being open, available, and transparent. Whether we like him or not, we have to be honest and admit that he has failed to offer these things in his administration.

Also, poll after poll show that the vast majority of the voting public is very against his health care reform package, yet he promises he will get it done anyway, and then calls those who disagree with him demeaning names! It is not the Republicans who has put Obama in a bad light .... it is Obama who has put himself in a bad light.

He is hell-bent on seeing his personal agendas be put into place, no matter the affect it has on the people of this nation or this nation itself. In all honesty, I blame the politicians of both parties, because now is the time to STOP being politically correct, and start impeaching Obama!

Just my opinion, but I am sticking to it.

Obama is great? The man is a narccist egocentric person who give's to shits about you. Do you not get that? He cares about Obama, when he held his town hall, he wouldnt let anyone talk. He likes to hear himself talk. He associates himself with known radicals and believers of communism and eco science who are believers in population control similar to china with forced abortions. Yes, he is doing a wonderful job....of attacking any person who disagrees with him. The stimulus package is doing such a wonderful job. Yes...all the terrorist nations love Obama. Why, because they are free to do what they wanna do. Just like the Clinton years. Being soft on terrorism is just what this country needs right? Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro Love some Obama....I wonder why? Obama will be out by 2012. My calendar is marked.

Pastor Bruce
2009-09-08 21:53:22 ET

Merrick - I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I take no political sides. I look at what the individual consists of, and Obama promises, but look at what he promises. He cannot give to everyone equally, because the resources must come from those who have them to give. That would be like my telling you to give my family $50.00 each week because you can afford to since you make more than we do. That is good on paper, but that is as far as it goes.

Also, the Arab nations will NEVER be an ally to a nation who is not Islamic. It will just not happen. Are you Muslim? If you aren't, you'd better pray we never end up being pro-Islamic! I have lived around Muslims and worked with them for years .... they are true believers, but what they believe in is a purely radical society of Islam, and if you aren't Islam, you will be dead. Period.

And you mark MY words .... America will either get rid of Obama, or we will fall quicker than anyone here thinks we could.

Wake up and read the front page, not just the comics section, my friend.

Obama is moving the country forward in ways people HAVE NOT EVEN THOUGHT OF. Like for example why should someone make more money that works less hours just because it is an "important" job?? you should be paid for the hours you work not based on what you do! Tthat would be so much farer and people wouldn't feel bad because they had "lesser" jobs. they could make more money by working much longer. obama will lead us to fairness like this. it will take a long while but we will get to a nation where all will be happy and we will all get along with the world. You are thinking so small typical republicans who can't see the big picture, how life can be better for everyone eveon someone who lives on the street now. Think about it!

Jeremy
2009-09-08 22:08:42 ET

Raising wages for small jobs does nothing but kill small buisness who can't afford to cover those inflated wages because it cuts out there income. So those people have to raise the price of goods to cover costs. Also, they will be required to afford healthcare for those who work for them. Also, driving up cost. So in the end....the taxpayer takes it in the bum. Like Always. You think a trashman should make the kind of wages that someone who goes to college, earns there degree, and becomes something that betters america merrick. You really dont have a clue. This country is being bankrupt by the rediculous spending already providing more deficit in 10 months than Bush cleared in 8 years...even with the war. Crazy aint it. Got to give back to those people who put Obama there. Van Jones was not an accident. Obama knew exactly what he was getting with Mr Jones.

Pastor Bruce
2009-09-08 22:16:03 ET

Merrick - what you propose about the wage someone receives for the hours they work is right out of the Communist Manifesto. Free enterprise made this nation great, and taking it away will make us like every other nation who has fallen. Is that what you want?

Judging by what you have written, I would say you are in your 20's-30's, non-Christian, and having a job that barely pays your expenses .... and you desperately want something more without having to make the sacrifices necessary to get it.

I do not mean to demean or dis you ..... but I do mean to make it clear that nothing is free, and when we expect to be babysat by our government, we end up giving away everything that we cherish and end up being puppets and slaves to that government. Look around you at world history and see if you'd rather live somewhere else than in America. (And if, by any chance you do, it would be a nice time to move there.) America - love it, support it, or leave it, but do not try and change it.)

Merreck:

Holy Cow!! I have never written to a real communist before. I can't believe you said "You should be paid for the hours you work and not for what you do"? Not in this country and over my dead body. Earning a higher wage is one of the incentives medical students spend many years in med-school, internship, and residency. Their specialized training is one of the reasons they deserve more per hour than the rest of us.

I agree, many medical practices are overpriced. However, I also believe you get what you pay for.

Jeremy
2009-09-08 22:21:51 ET

Whats sad is Merreck truly believes these things just like alot of other leftist. They think distribution of wealth is fine and dandy. Thats fair right.

We live our lives day to day trying to maintain a healthy life style. Health care therefore is one of the most important issues in our day to day lives. Health care reform is something that we as a nation should do together. There are so many sides to this issue, that I believe, we as Americans are losing sight of the goal of health reform. The White House and Congress have also lost sight of the goal for reform. We all need to take a step back, take a deep breathe, and re-look this reform. Only then will the country truly benefit and the our government will have the smallest amount of intervention in the end.

I voted NO to the question should the present plans be scraped and "start over". NO - I don't want the government to start over - I don't want the government trying to pass a health care plan PERIOD ! If the government really wanted to reduce the cost of health care I would be for it - but, all the Dems want is a "single payor plan" and control of our lives. If they were serious they would tackle (1) tort liability reform (2)allow purchasing health insurance across state lines (3) allowing tax deduction on premiums for individuals as well as businesses (4) encourage Doctors; Hospitals & Drug Manufacturers to play a contributing roll in cost containment and quit calling them crooks (there may be a few but, certainly there is some integrity in this group - and there would be more if the government encouraged such. I absolutely do not want anything what-so-ever to do with the federal government controlling health care - come on people - look at every social program now the government runs - it's either broke or going in that direction. Give the government control of national health care - are you kidding me??

although I agree with most of what G.B Taylor stated, for the working poor with no insurance from work or the unemployed a state funded plan is required. Nobody should be die because they can't afford healthcare, Everybody who wants an annual check up should have access. Whether its ran through insurance companies or directly from the Gov't it needs to be available and paid for from the system. To pay for it is easy, just remove the subsidies given to companies, and allow a true free market where companies play on an equal field with equal rules.

When you are born (at a hospital), you cost $ and then stamped ($ + SS# = your 1st introductory course of life into CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM), -----------when you begin K-12, the government has a public school system (SOCIALISM?), or you can enroll in the private affluent system (CAPITALISM?), --------------your higher education is the 2nd introductory course into indebtedness (public or private)(GOVT LOANS or corporations i.e. BANKERS), ----------your next course into indebtedness comes from, "you got it", more (BANKERS), you know for the loan to get that car or maybe some credit cards to purchase the essential things you need to get through school, even though your working at times but still need the help, OK ------------ when you begin the workforce to (try) and payoff your debts and land the "career job", you "the American worker" now reach a highly competitive wage based field that maintains your indebtedness (CAPITALISM, it's cheaper to seek those whom work for lesser wages i.e. "OUTSOURCING") minimizing the available jobs in America that pays your worth as a laborer, representing the "American Dream" plus you've just bought a house, making the debt ever expanding, ------------when you get old and tired from working, stressing, competing to maintain a sense of "decency" living at every stage of your life you grow weary and sick, --------------you then cost $ to heal and die, and therefore indebted to a systematic corporatocracy for much of your life (CAPITALISM), or you'll seek the government, (but you have to be really old) looking to provide a subtile "way out", this is your precious medicare system (SOCIALISM) or don't forget that SOCIALIZED STAMP, you may want to cash in now. ------------THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT THE CURE ALL AND THE CORPORATION YOU WORKED SO HARD FOR WILL NOT CURE ALL, EVEN WHEN YOU ARE INSURED, IT'S NOT AN EFFECTIVE SYSTEM. YOU ARE SYSTEMATICALLY (FROM BIRTH) TO BE A PON FOR THE GOVERNMENT, BECAUSE AN UNEDUCATED CITIZENRY IS EASIER TO MANIPULATE AND CONTROL, AND YOU ARE A PON FOR THE CORPORATIONS, BECAUSE NOW THEY DON'T APPRECIATE YOU LABOR OR YOUR PATRIOTISM, THEY SEE THE SAVINGS ($) OF NEVER HAVING TO DEPEND ON YOU TO BOOST THEIR PROFITS WHEN UNDERDEVELOPED NATIONS WILL WORK FOR CHEAPER AND THEY HAVE CONSCIOUSLY PLACED GOVERNMENTAL OFFICIALS I OFFICE TO CHANGE LEGISLATIONS AND ENACT LAWS TO ADVANCE THEIR POWER WORLDWIDE.************************* Obama is the "greatest" distraction ever, to pull the wool over the eyes of Americans willing to blame "someone" but not themselves for being lazy, overweight, materialized, ignorant, racist, propagated, and worst of all "divided". HEALTHCARE WILL PROVIDE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WITH MUCH COMPETENCY AND LIFE SUSTAINING OPPORTUNITIES, BUT IT'S NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF YOUR DEBT HOLDERS.

The solution is LOVE and HUMANITY for self 1st and then for everyone (young and old), not just towards 1 class, race, religion or nationality, I know that it sounds very EXTREME, yet it can develop within the majority of the people, but that ONLY starts within YOU and I ------ There is no 1 solution to a systematic problem, but there are remedies that should be "explored" whether coming from democrats, republicans, independents, and then ultimately the citizens of America. Healthcare is not the only reform desperately needed in America, but educational, mental, social, physical and political reform is also warranted. Then America would develop out of its ashes of self-destruction and hate, into a well-educated, competent, healthy, loving, strong and determined nation, all which does not serve the interest of its debt holders and those who wish to see America dumb and ignorant, lost and powerless (meaning the citizens, not just the government). The grips of corporatocracy are very firm on American lives and government, and that's wherein the battle lies, not 1 man (President Obama). WE shall contribute to our own demise and never even know it!!! ----------I just want people to stop and THINK.

First, I want to say I don't know everything that is in the purposed Heathcare reform bills. I do think the government as well as all USA citizens should do their own research as to what is now working in other countries and tailer a plan that takes the best parts of each plan and develop a plan that will work best for all USA citizens. I think everyone should stop listening to the so called experts and show this country we are not just a bunch of zombies that believes everything we are told without doing our own research. We should after doing our own research, make our own decision as to what is best for the people as a whole for the USA based on true information . I know from reading many of the posts on this site many are quoting misinformation about the Canadian Health Care System due to what so called experts are telling. I for one don't believe everything I am told but do my own research before making up my mind.
If anyone is interested in a true comparison of the Canadian health care plans as to the US plans, as they stand today, here is a good web site that does a non partisan comparison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Canadian_and_American_health_care_systems

The Progressives wouldn't like it. After all, they are responsible for the mess we're in. I pray that we make it 2010 to throw them all out.

This is death to America.

If medicare is a government option and I paid into it for 40 years when more people are being added then why are they decreasing the funds. How can they say there will be health care under any plan when medicare was suppose to be a government plan that would have no rationing and be there for older Americans and it is now being cut.

If he wants to cover 45 million not covered now imagine when this is passed and millions of people come to America because it was passed and we add them to the deficit will have us all underwater drowning from this weight.

WE are dead if any public plan , trigger or any bill over 3 pages is passed where they can hid things.

The bill should guarantee what they will not do including abortion, end of life, rationing, panels, with no age requirements or evaluation of remaining life. We were endowed by our creator with individual rights not the control and greed of providing for a WORLD SOCIETY.

Has everyone gone nuts. How clear is this or are they all life Dorien Gray's or ugly vile monster's inside where no one can see the individual as good and worth every minute of life.

Can't we pay in to a fund in the good years having enough resources at the end to handle the medical costs which need to be shown before we agree to any procedures, that can not be denied due to illness, have tort reform to lower costs and interstate competition.

Can we not work on these first and see if they work?

WHY should WE have to pay for those who are too lazy to work??

HEALTHCARE REFORM WILL PUT MORE MONEY IN OUR POCKETS AND SAVE AMERICAN JOBS !

All major corporations have already moved oversea because they can't afford the U.S. Healthcare System. These companies left because they can't compete with countries that already have Universal Healthcare. U.S. corporations moved to other countries because they don't have to worry about employee healthcare.

CAN'T PEOPLE SEE THAT !

Healthcare Reform will reduce cost, give us more and better coverage and as a country we will be able to compete once again with countries like China.

DEATH PANELS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PROVEN TO BE A LIE ! Republican politicians are even admitting there is NO such thing in any of the plans.

PLUS HEALTCARE REFORM IS A CHOICE ! You do not even have to use it, SINCE ITS A CHOICE IT CAN'T BE SOCIALISM

NO!! excuse me, but all of you in favor of government controlled health care can you name the one program the united states government has ever run well financially??? NO, because one does not exist. the us government simply does not manage money well, social security, medicare, medicad all on the verge of banhruptcy.

The president says he surrounds himself with people that are "key" to his success and they include Rev. Wright, Valerie Jarrett, Pelosi and Van Jones, and numerous czars we know very little about. Obama's goals to make massive changes to our healthcare systems, drastically raising energy consumption taxes (with no significant change in global warming), and increasing the federal deficit to unprecedented levels, that can't paid off in a 100 years, is attempting to accomplish all of this, with no experience, faulty logic and extreme liberal/socialist advisors. This has led the majority of Americans to be very mistrustful of Obama and his motives. It is hard to follow one that you believe is not acting in the best interest of our Nation and doesn't have the ability to do so.

Social Sercurity and Medicare are two of the GREATEST successes government can run things ! Without these two programs (and public schools) we would have been a 3rd world country by now. These two programs have worked great for many, many, many years.

Are there problems and lack of funding ? YES. The problem is they need to be updated like most programs after running for so many years but that is not a reason to end them. The world and the U.S. are not the same as they were when these two programs were first created, so no wonder they are failing in todays environment. A little fine tuning and they will be good for another 100 years.

REPUBLICANS WOULD BE EXTINCT right now if not for the governments help. This is not the wild wild west any longer. For you republicans that live on ranches and farms, the world has changed ! Like it or not it will never go back the way it used to be .

Death Panels are the review board like Oregon Has. They denied Mrs. Wagner cancer medication in time and she died. That is why they have been named DEATH PANELS they kill people with denial.

Medicare is not a success as more people are being added and millions are being cut. Thus doctors will not treat and therefore will have DEATH AGAIN!!!

Many people Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Democrats like me want simple reforms like tort, state competition, medical costs revealed prior to treatment, savings accounts from beginning a work experience first before anything more.

Not all corporations are over seas but if you do not do simple reforms all of them will be and we will be left with socialism as the government owns the banks, cars, insurance and will be printing money with no gold to back it. What is the worth of Paper NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Public Option is not a choice when all the private insurers are gone as they will not be able to compete against what the government is going to offer in the beginning. There will not be enough doctors as there is a shortage right now. 47 million more will increase with this free insurance to a billion more in constant immigrants illegally coming in to get this taxpayer free money.

THIS IS ABOUT CONTROL ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS ABOUT REELECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLAY WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES AND LOVE OF COUNTRY OVER A 4 YEAR JOB? THERE IS NOT HEART AND SOUL IN AMERICA ANY MORE IF THAT IS THE CASE.

Your right and if you would actually read the bill out on the websites or least go through it you would find it would put and end to death panels and also make it where NO ONE can be denied healthcare for any reason.

THE SYSTEM WE HAVE TODAY ARE DEATH PANELS its called insurance companies who deny claims and use pre-existing conditions as a reason not to help people.

Healthcare Reform means, Cheaper, better service, and can NEVER be denied care.

AS I STATED EARLIER OREGON IS A STATE GOVERNMENT SYSTEM NOT PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES AND THEY ARE PROPOSING A GOVERNMENT PLAN JUST LIKE THEM. THEN THEY WILL KILL ALL THE WAGNERS IN THE USA THAT HAVE CANCER REQUIRING A EXPENSIVE PILL AS NOT COST EFFECTIVE.

OBAMA HAS STATED THAT HE DOES NOT THINK HIS OWN GRANDMOTHER HAD A COST EFFECTIVE HIP REPLACEMENT BECAUSE SHE HAD CANCER. UNLESS THEY TRY DRUGS AND OPERATIONS ON THE SICK THEY WILL NEVER GET TO THAT PLACE LIKE THE ARTIFICIAL HEART WHICH FAILED MANY TIMES BEFORE THEY GOT THE PROCEDURE CORRECT. AND HE WOULD HAVE PATIENTS REMAIN IN BED, NOT GET UP TO GO THE BATHROOM UNTIL THEY DIE. IS INHUMAN.

I HAVE READ THE BILL AND HEARD WHAT HAS BEEN SAID AND THIS IS NOT HEALTH CARE REFORM, NOT HEALTH CARE CUT COSTS, NOT HEALTH CARE CHOICE AS EVERYONE HAS SAID THIS IS THERE STEP TO SINGLE PAYER AND CONTROL. THIS IS NOT FOR THE PEOPLE , BY THE PEOPLE.

HISTORY SHOULD NOT BE REWRITTEN AS IT WORKS. THE FOUNDERS WANTED NO GOVERNMENT BUT DID NOT WANT ANARCHY SO THEY HAD A SMALL GOVERNMENT. WE HAVE DESTROYED THAT WITH BIGGER GOVERNMENT.OUR ECONOMY WILL NOT SURVIVE ANOTHER ADDITION BUT NEED TO FIND A WAY TO CUT COSTS.

MY FAMILY REFINANCED, DECREASED CABLE AND PHONE COSTS, ETC.TO LIVE WITHIN OUR MEANS AND WE WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO DO THE SAME FOR GOVERNMENT AND OUR HEALTH INSURANCE. AND YOU KNOW WE LIKE THE REDUCED COSTS. AMAZING.

Please Mr. Obama please re-think your healthcare vision! We the American people did not vote for you to radicalize our country! We did not ask YOU to turn over wholesale the engine of our growth. Yes we all agree there are problems that need addressing. But that does not mean scraping everything and replacing this problem with an even bigger problem. Take each problem we are facing and call both sides of the debate into the room and say "alright here is our problem how do we fix it?" What Mr. Obama is wrong with that approach?

In my opinion Mr. Obama one big mistake you made was allowing politics and ideology to trump common sense and reason. The speaker of the House and the Senate majority leaders are far and away to far left in their thinking. You Mr. Obama are the leader you should be setting the agenda not them!

I agree with Obama. All Americans should have good health care. Just because someone is rich they shouldn't get the best care while a poor person suffers. the government should run it all and then it would be equal. 2009-09-09 17:59:27 ET

You can not solve a complex problem like health care until our leaders understand the problems and agree on steps to take to solve each one. Otherwise, the only thing that happens is moving the problems to another area. The result is not a solution. If you move the problem, you have not solved it. How do you know that you have solved a complex problem? You know because the solutions offered do not create new problems. And a good solution usually comes with a high degree of agreement from all parties.

A poor solution perpetuates both old and new problems. No victory for anyone.

You have given a great example of your side avoiding the facts and thereby hiding from the issue. Happy to help you. If he presses ahead now against the wishes of the electorate, he will be a political zero for the remainder of his term. Resetting is the smart-- and statesmanlike-- move. But has he the humility?

Hey Bill O'Reilly, I found a whole bunch of volunteers to be the PINHEADS on your next show ! It just seems unbelievable to read some of these responses. Social Security is already just about bankrupt so I will never see it even though we are required to continue to pay for it. I find it numbing that some of these posts don't get this has nothing to do with race. All have groups that want to bust their humps to live the American dream all the way down to those that want the government to wipe their arses for generations and never have to bother voting, so let's put that to rest. I and MANY others don't think this country is in need of the "Messiah's" rebuilding efforts. I know the true Messiah already has a plan for that soon enough. It's sad to see so many people sucked into Nobama's act that they voted for him simply because he is black and now they cant bring themselves to admit they aren't getting what they were sold. Swallow hard, admit it, and step up to help correct this ! I saw my 1st Impeach Obama sticker the other day so who says we have to wait til 2012. It would be great if the BOBBLEHEADS on the Hill would band together and stop this nonsense like they have no power to distinguish right from wrong and let these few steamroll over the whole country. Do your jobs or get out and we WILL help you either way ! Lord help us all !

Joanne L. you are absolutely correct. Nationalized...er ah, National Health coverage is THE "single greatest crisis of our time"...for LESS than 2% of the U.S. population ("50 million Americans" your Dummycrat numbers). Back in the 70's and 80's, when I was young and stupid and thought I could rely on my own intelligence, education, motivation, and business savvy to run my own business and raise a family NOBODY gave a tinker's dam if I could afford insurance for my wife, children or myself. Now, tell me once again why I should be forced to give up the very good insurance I have now, settle for some sub-standard crap-coverage that "the government" owns (and will eventually run into the ground) and pay for YOUR coverage at the same time!!! What in your bleeding heart, mush-headed, thinking makes this fair to me or anyone else who has worked for and earned what they have?

Small "new"business speaking out. I decided to start a new business in the mist of all the craziness. I am proud to say I am surviving but barely. I went into this business eyes wide open and knew success was up to me...If the government makes me buy insurance....I will not be able to afford it... It is not in my 3 year plan and something I know I cannot afford.. So I am VERY CONCERNED to see the "plan" before it is approved. Yes, I agree health care is messed up..I have way to many stories to share to that fact. But dictating to me on how to run MY business is an issue. I do not know the answer, I have not sen the answer yet and believe the government, rather republican or democrat has not learned how to be $$$ responsible and do not believe government knows how to run a business!

So very concerned citizen ....

Its like tearing down a house when you need it painted. Just fix what you don't like, don't completely dismantle our healthcare system to fix a few problems. There is NO NEED for government run healthcare, allow competition between existing health insurance companies. A government run health ins. is like having Walmart move in, close down the little guys, then raise their prices. KEEP FIGHTING THIS, NOTHING HAS CHANGED

2009-09-10 01:54:09 ET

I think the current healthcare reform bill should not only be scrapped, it should also NOT BE REPLACED. It is not a legitimate function of the federal government to be in the healthcare business. Insurance should be written only for the risk of financial catastrophe should a medical crisis happen to a person, not to insure the person for every office visit, X-ray, etc. You can't insure health, only the financial risk of a catastrophic illness. By inserting a third-party-- whether it's an insurance company or the government --between the doctor and patient, you break the patient's sense of personal responsibility and accountability-- that an individual is responsible for his or her own health. Many, if not most, of the major illnesses in this country are due to poor lifestyle choices, which are entirely within the control of the individual. Also, a third party system makes it more expensive and aggravating for the average doctor to practice.

I agree with the others who suggest we should scrap the entire Obama Administration. The only caveat is that the Republicans have not demonstrated that they could offer any better alternatives. It's time for REAL CHANGE in America....a return to what made this country great in the first place: limited government and the sovreignty of the individual.

Speaking of people being against the Health Insurance reforms; I noticed that last night Fox News reported about the Tea Party in Troy Michigan and reported an attendance of "8,000 to 10,000", HOWEVER according to Americans for Tax Reform, http://www.atr.org/updated-people-attended-tax-tea-parties-a3138#
a group that certainly is in favor of the Tea Parties, the attendance in Troy Michigan was 2,000. Great job of over estimating by 400% to 500%. This makes me wonder what other stories this network is reporting inaccurately.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the President want's to provide health care for all illegals now. Why can't we focus on our Citizens, Black ,White ,Hispanic etc, and take care of our own nation. There are some questions which need to be answered. Questions regardless of your political affiliation, sexual orientation, doesn't matter if you are red-necked, brown-skinned or black-eyed, almost everyone answers these questions the same way.

Is the medical system of the United States functionally broken? There is only one answer, yes.

Is the medical system of the United States driven by the same capitalistic spirit which fuels other NGOs? There is only one answer, yes.

Is the medical system of the United States represented in Congress by both parties via large campaign donations and via large lobbying efforts? There is only one answer, yes.

Are there people of the greatest country in the world, subjected to second rate health care as a trade off for first rate profiteering? There is only one answer, yes.

At what point, do we the American people begin to start demanding protection from financial ruin from outlandish medical expenses, demanding protection from organizations who examine my cost burden before considering my right to proper treatment, when do we earn the right as a people to not wear the weight and burden of fighting for the right to live with adequate medical care.

Wake up America. The problem we are trying to solve is already fixed in most of the developed world. Japan, Canada, Sweden, France, Germany, pick another major world power and our US health care system ranks below.

Our average life expectancy is lower. Our infant morality rate is higher.

Why? Because we allow our medical system to be driven by the dollar and not driven by the exact Hippocratic doctors are sworn by. To keep the patient from harm and injustice.

For those who are concerned with an alternative system, don't opt for it. Pay for your existing coverage via your employer. Enjoy the benefits of the new system, as your current insurer will now be forced to compete with other options. The current insurers will not be able to remove people arbitrarily from their programs and will not be able to push ridiculous financial burdens onto the backs of the hard working men and women in the US.

And most importantly, those who are unable to be insured for existing conditions, self employment or unemployment will not go without the basic medical conditions life requires.

Choose life, not greed.

The government health plan is going provide with "another option." Compare it to the school system. Public schools are another option. Are they really bad, do they represent a waste of tax money? People who wants to go to a public school can do it and people who can afford to go to private schools are free to do so. Same here people who can't get private insurance will have "another option" and people who decides to keep their current insurance coverage and doctors are free to do so? What is wrong with that? I do not understand. What part of "you can keep your current doctor and your current insurance" people do not understand? The same people who opposed medicare and medicaid back in the days are the ones happy using it now in their elderly, just think about it.

Obama is at least trying to help the people who need healthcare and are struggling. If you are trying to get by and pay your bills and don't find you have lots of extra income to pay for health care-Get on board, stand up for yourself and your family and support Obama who is trying to help the middle class and the poor. Any formally educated person with a heartbeat would agree with his passion to make sure that EVERY AMERICAN has affordable health care. Health care should be a right, not a luxury. I also think that if we can spend billions of dollars in a country half way across the world then we should be able to spend it here in our great nation... well, once great nation. Greed has over taken the people that we call "our fellow americans". Wise up people, open your eyes and see that these insurance companies (and lobbyist--we all know who the are) are killing people left and right by denying them the healthcare that could potentially save their lives.

Socialistic? Are you kidding me? Are we a socialized society because the government runs the Postal Service or other important services that we are lucky to have? Are we a socialist country because we have free education for our children, here in America? Uh huh, nope, we are not!

P.S. Watch out! President Obama might be knocking at your front door next week in order for you to hand over your guns. LOL! And I thought that little rabbit was silly!

I cannot believe how ignorant some of these comments are. Obviously a lot of you did not watch Obama tonight. He clearly explained the proposed healthcare reform plan and stated right up front that nothing changes for people who currently have coverage. He addressed all of the allegations made that are spinning this plan into something horrible for the country. The purpose of the plan is to make sure everyone has health insurance and he presented all of the reasons why this is good for the country. Fox TV and the rest of you who are probably Republicans opposed to the healthcare reform cannot stand the thought that a Democratic president could make a change that is so positive for the country. None of the Republicans ever proposed healthcare reform. The best we got was George Bush implementing an RX drug program for the elderly that has cost the country billions and he never had a plan in place to pay for. This is the type of person the Republicans want in office. I've always considered myself an independent but will probably never vote Republican again after listening to the politicans on that side of the fence spinning lies about the plan in an attempt to thwart any effort to pass healthcare reform. If Obama wasn't pushing so hard for this the Republicans would just as soon let it die as there is little, if any, interest on their part to do anything for the country. It's true, the Republicans are all about greed, money and how every law they pass benefits them and their party. Oh, they throw something in now and then for the country like Bush passing a bill to provide better drug coverage for seniors. Guess what, he never made any plan or thought through how the country would pay for this and left billions of dollars in debt over this program to Obama - now that's great leadership! Obama has thought through everything very carefully and has presented an excellent argument and I hope the bill passes. I'm not saying there may not be wrinkles but he's done a hell of a better job than George Bush did with the RX plan. Anyone who's going to challenge what Obama said tonight on TV should come out and speak to each specific aspect of the plan and state where Obama is allegedly lying. From what I see, HE did his homework on the issue and has addressed all of the rumors and lies conjured up by the alleged intelligent and honest Republicans who want nothing more than to assure no healthcare reform bill gets passed. Obama is honest, has integry, morals, says what he believes and thinks about what is best for the country - not what is best for Barak Obama, his family and the people he knows personally. Can't say that about a majority of the politicans and I'm throwing almost all of the Republicans into that camp. If healthcare reform doesn't happen - it won't be his fault. It will be the fault of the Congress who has an agenda that is not in the best interest of the country and all the ignorant citizens who cannot see that this country is lacking in the healthcare provided to its citizens.

I am for some reform, but not Socialism !

Laws/legislation is a far better option:
* Enable to cross state borders for health ins (competition).
* Prevent ins companies from increasing or droping your health ins, because of illness.
* Tort reform.
* Some type of constraint on pharmaceutical companies
(example, $4000 for monthly supply cancer medication, is a scam!).

I am very opposed to:
1). The government to get bigger and bigger !
2). The government spending money they do not have !

Ann
2009-09-10 07:00:05 ET

Jeannie, Well, I guess you are then one of the mindless Americans who Obama can obviously brainwash with his unrealistic and lofty goals of more affordable insurance with coverage to everyone that will be paid for by the Medicare savings and will not add one penny to the deficit. He wants to take away the Medicare advantage program for seniors. This program is actually saving the government money and putting the risk on the so called nasty insurance companies who actually have the nerve to want to make a profit (god forbid that we have capitalism in this country). Health insurance does need reform. Insurance companies do need to remove preexisting condition exclusions; however, this will come at a price to the premiums. Since the health insurance risk pools will significantly increase and cost insurance companies more money, which equates to premium increases since the costs are passed to the consumer. We do need tort reform; however, Obama and Congress representatives are getting too much lobbying money/perks from the lawyer lobbyists to even consider the idea of tort reform.

Regarding the public option, this will be another huge tax burden to tax payers. The public option will wind up having huge deficits, and the govt will have to step in and bail it out, thereby causing our taxes to go up or our deficit to go up. Nothing is free. Looking how well the USPS is doing - they have huge deficits. If the taxes do not eventually go up, then rationing of health care will have to occur to cut costs. Rationing of health care does eventually lead to the govt not paying for services that they consider not to be prudent. For example, when your elderly parent needs a liver transplant, however, based on statistics the Government run health board determines that the parent would regardless probably only have 1 or 2 years left before he or she dies. Thus it would not be cost effective to pay for the transplant. So, in Obama's own words, it may be best to give the parent pain pills until they die.

Obama needs to hire accountants who can actually show him a realistic picture- not just what he wants to hear or believe. He is obviously not listening to the CBO auditors (who know what they are talking about).

Regarding his putting down of the Republican (and independents') opinions, I guess it is okay for him to discount their opinions and we should consider his opinion to be gospel since his way is the only way. Obama will be definitely a one term President!!!!! And, as for Pelosi, I hope the voters in her district see what an idiot she is, and vote her out at the next elections.

So, Jeannie, do not complain when your insurance premiums go up or health care will be rationed. Look at Canada's health care system where their citizens are coming to our country for health care since they have to wait months to see a doctor (by the way, Canada is the country to the north of the United States). Per Obama's own words, he wants universal care for everyone and he hates insurance companies (those nasty companies who actually want to make a profit). Maybe you will one of the lucky ones where the Obama government health board determines a critical life saving procedure is unnecessary. Hope you will not get too sick from taking all those pain pills.

Joe Wilson and extreme Right radicals showed shock-jock sensibility in their boorish behavior on the national stage in Congress last night. Would his children in the military ever behave so disrespectfully? I do not think that they would ever dream of yelling insults at their Commander-In-Chief. Patriotic Americans do not tolerate such outrageous behavior from public servants, who should be modeling the highest courtesy and respect for authority. What is behind Wilson’s irrational destructiveness? Could it be that Southern bigots are now venting their frustrations via Wilson now that Jim Crow is dead? If South Carolina citizens are true patriots, they will push for Wilson’s resignation. Otherwise this begins an ugly new legacy of intolerance and disrespect. Isn’t it time for Joe to go?

I have a family member living in Canada and keeps insurance in this country after almost dieing a childbirth because there was no surgeon present she had to wait until one showed up and almost did not make it. She remembers lying there being told to hold on a little longer. She now keeps insurance for her and her children in this country due to many problems in Canada. We think because this is the US things like this will not happen here. Or the family who waited for cataract surgery for their mother. She was placed on a waiting list. She just recently got a call for the surgery. Unfortunately, she will not get the procedure. She died around a year ago. Or the person who left Australia because of the lack of work and medical care. She agrees things need to be done only moving down this area becomes a slippery slope. I have not been happy with the other side either. They have had chance to make changes only it did not happen. Yet, the opposing side has had a plan for months only its ideas never seem to reach the main stream press. I know the states were there are more choices in health care the costs go down and the service come up. With the increase of spending already being done why are we adding more deficit right now? Why does this need to be done so quickly? If the plan has so much merit than why worry about debate. If there are the votes why worry about what Fox or anyone else thinks? If you have it all together why worry about the opinions of others at all. If people want to push a bill through it makes me think what is there they may not want us to know. I would ask these questions no matter who is in congress. Funny after moving around other stations web sites there is few areas to allow people to put in their own comments. So if this News media is so off why are the rating so high on Fox and if you got everything hands down why bother with this site? Sadly, those of us in the middle trying to make educated decisions can not even ask questions or put out concerns looking for input without being slammed. I heard how one side is using it voice to scare people in the last few opinions I see some very negative personal attacks from the other side. How is that OK? I lived with a child having a major disease and high medical bills and am still paying them off. Over many years I have kept in touch with parents in other countries and hear the heart felt sorrow of lack of medical attention for a child needing it. Inability to contact a doctor or specialist for help when medications need changing or adjusting. Medications that need constant monitoring of blood levels on a monthly basis or severe consequences can occur when you are not able to see a doctor for months. Since they need a specialist it can be 3 or more months until that can happen. Parents at wits end watching their child suffer and not having the ability to get help or even go to the emergency room since those doctors are not specialist and will refer them back to the specialist. Necessary tests needed to confirm medical attention on a waiting lists. This is something that I have personally seen for years. It hurts when my child is suffering and recovering from the effects of medications when I had options and other did not. I can imagine the frustration of a parent that does not have many choices. Yes, there needs to be change only I would like more options out there for all to see and more working together and less bickering between sides. If either group believes in their proposal they should not be afraid of? I am not writing this to scare anyone only to inform that these are true experiences and things that happen and parents are in debt like us only they have few choices due to the overworked system. This happens to young and old alike. We take for granted even if you do not have insurance there are some options out there. Choices that some in other countries do not have where the gov. runs insurance.

Raise it by 20,000 per year and see how many qualify. This program is already in force. There should be some oversight on the insurance companies as well. We need to work with what we already have in place. Working middle class families can not afford all of the Obama taxes that are coming down the pike. Health care, energy, etc. Middle class America lives paycheck to paycheck. How does Obama think all of these plans and the taxes that come with them will help us.

We live in a very bad time, when the president of the US can force an issue such as Health Care down the throath of hard working Americans. He has proven over and over that he wants complete control of this nation. His pastor prayed, I heard him, for God to Damn this nation and that took place in November 2008 with the 66M ignorant people that voted for this man and his party. I pray that GOD Bless America, let her people stand strong against evil and prevail, let this man and his party fall to their knees as Saul did when YOU shown that bright light in his eyes. LORD forgive them, they know not what they do. YOU gave our forefathers the knowledge to build this nation on YOUR principles and we do not want that to dissipate. LORD touch these leaders and place CHANGE in their hearts the most important CHANGE and only CHANGE that is relavant, that YOU are our leader and only way this nation will continue to be the greatest in history.

As usual, last nights speech was long on rhetoric and short on substance. If 5% of the population signs on for the public option which is what he said last night, and it will be sustainable by the premiums that they pay since they won't have overhead, adminstrative costs, etc, then the president needs to go back to school and take some math classes. He said the bill won't pay for illegals, but again, that doesn't make sense, since they will still be able to go to any emergency room in the country, so how exactly does health reform fix that? He said no federal dollars for abortion, but when you read the bill again, (I think it's page 433), there it is, abortion. He said there are no death panels. Death panels is a bad phrase (totally misunderstood) but on page 1233, mandatory end of life counseling (and that's what people oppose). Maybe, he needs to read the bill before he makes statements to the American people.

Aside from all that, I'm just tired of the bickering and blame game. It needs to stop, and Mr. Obama is very guilty of that. If you don't like what someone says, just deal with it, stop with the little snide comments (and he's a master at that). Also, he needs to put a muzzle on Axlerod.

I also saw some comment about the czars. My feeling on that is that we (the taxpayer) are paying out at the very least $4 million in taxes for salaries for these guys. They need to be vetted or Mr. Obama can pay their salaries out of his own personal funds.

True enough, Obama could sell refrigerators to Eskimoes, his slick talking has gotten him to the position he is in. However, his actions speak much louder than his words. Trailing behind this "Health Care" fiasco - the buy-out of the banks, the auto industry, the 'stimulas bill,' Cash for Clunkers, etc. All were touted as major 'fixes' for our economy. Listening to him - most people initially believed it all. However, results have shown that what he says and what actually happens can be totally different. If you look forward to the obvious results, you see this will wreak havoc on our medical system.

Why can we not fix Medicare and Medicaid, allow those we hear so desperately need insurance to be added to Medicaid, and simply clean up all the fraud and abuse in those two programs. By the way, these programs would not be in such a state if the government had not 'borrowed' from them to pay for other pet projects. That should have never been allowed!
We should clean up what we have instead of manufacturing another mismanaged government program.

I would rather see current 'pay for uninsured' aspect continue as it is, rather than have the government in charge of America's healthcare!

Hastily putting the cart before the horse is never a good idea, ya know like with the cars for clunkers program.

“Slow down Obama and relax a bit, catch up on your smoking, you have 4 years to show everyone how wonderful you are, you will be worshipped by all soon enough”said satan.

I checked out the other news stations that were more likely to be visited by dem rights, guess what, they say their polls indicate 2/3 of the people agree with Obama's Health care plans. So if fox says that their polls which are more likely to be visited by Reps, Conservatives, and Independants say their polls indicate that Obamas Health plan approval has gone down. Why argue about it just go back to the news where your ideas seem justified. But keep your eye's on us RCI FOX lovers because if you weren't so busy defending your yes vote you would see that what is said on Glen Beck and other like programs are true.

There were so many misdirections and outright falacies last night that it's difficult to narrow it down. If bipartisan means that both parties are involved, why is legislation being advanced that is completely partisan? If Obama meant what he said, that legislation would already be scrapped.

When Obama said that the proposal would not apply to illegal immigrants, did he know that there is not requirement to confirm citizenship for eligibility? Excluding anyone and then not providing the means to do so is meaningless.

We live in a representative democracy, despite the claims of those who support Obama and dismiss the opinions of thier fellow citizens. Health care reform should be rewritten with bipartisan input, and then tabled for citizen reveiw for (6) months. All elected officials should be subject to it. Any legislation that is this important and complicated deserves a complete public review. The midterm elections would be a valuable confirmation that voters are being heard, if we are to live by our ideals. Do you think Democrats are willing to take that chance? I think not!

Sadly, Democrats are rushing to pass legislation before the midterms, before angry voters can stop them. Anytime an elected representative is unwilling or afraid to stand before his/her constituents, democratic ideals are being violated.

Why should we believe Republicans will do anything about health care? When we had a Republican Pres. and Congress nothing was done. They had their chance. Today the Tea Party Express was in Scranton and I saw a man actually strike a woman that was holding a sign for health care. Will Beck or Hannity show that. Fox taped it. They were there.

All I hear from these Demo-Crack heads is blah blah blah, blah blah, Obama is God and will save the world, blah blah blah, Conservatives are racist terrorist bastards, blah blah blah

You democraps are full of crap. Obama will not save the world, he is going to make it worse and worse.

Like I said before, hey to bust your bubbles, but there are Republicans who are of color who also disagree with Obama.

2009-09-10 20:20:11 ET

Also, I aint a racist terrorist bastard. I dont give a rats ass if Obama was Mexican, it aint his color, it is his character, and his character sucks. So, you need to watch yourself, but hey, if you wanna follow your Black Messiah, you can follow him to unemployment when he visits those he screwed in the butt for jacking up the prices of health care and other things that will cause unemployment to take place

Hell, no they shouldn't start over. That's just the delay the health insurance industry wants to buy enough time to stop reform altogether. The private sector has had decades to solve this problem and has spectacularly failed. Also, these FN polls are a distortion. If America were really a democracy we'd have had single-payer 20 years ago. But don't count on FN to tell you the truth about that, since they sell ads to health insurance companies. Murdoch's propaganda machine keeps right on spewing it. They distort, you comply.

2009-09-10 20:36:07 ET

Jim, you might as well start practicing saying "Mein Kempf" and "Heil Obama" if something dont happen quick. You think we might end up in a Cold War?

I know my Pastor said we are to respect authority and pray for those who hold authoristic positions, but how can you do so for a man who is pretty much running the US to the ground, trying to control our lives like we are puppets on a string, and make people like my grandma possibly die from life-risking illnesses because she is 81 and diabetic because of death panels, but yet denies he has said or proposed?

Obama speaks on behalf of the Democrat Party. The person who committed the asault should be arrested. Fox should provide the tape as evidence against him. He does not speak for anyone else, any more than SEIU members with similar behavior.

This issue is too important to rush through, too critical for anything short of overwhelming public support, and its too complex to be unread by most members of Congress. There is too much at stake for this issue to be handled the way it is.

It's time for voters to start holding elected officials accountable. Members of Congress should be given the same choices that average citizens receive, without the special perks. Health care reform, when it is done, should apply to everyone without exception.

2009-09-10 20:52:13 ET

So because the guy called Obama a liar, it is an assault? Well, you are an idiot for thinking that, ooo, Im sorry, I didnt mean to "assault" you

SJ Huisken;

You got it all wrong. Patriotic Americans do not tolerate the man who says this is not a christian nation anymore, who is trying to befriend us with communistic, terroristic, anti-usa nations, who has quadrupled our deficit, and has not proven anything or has fulfilled his so called promises. They also can not tolerate the man who considers us Racist, terroristic bastards.

Glenn Beck,

One thing about the health care debates that does not seem to be getting any attention is the idea that our private medical records will be shared with every medical person throughout the US.

I do not want my private medical records shared with every medical and pharmaceutical professional and trainee throughout the US, and I certainly do not want to share any of my personal data with the US Government and its agencies.

I think many people have not considered just what the computerrization of our medical records means.

We need to ask people if they want their their tax returns made available to every accounting assistant and accounting firm secretary throughout the Nation to help Americans to grasp just what the President is advocating with the computerization of our medical data.

Joe Wilson spoke the truth.... It was all lies. Obama is just telling the American people what they wanted to here, just like when he was campaigning for presidency. Obama promised that he would not sign any bills with out reading them first. How many billions of dollars has he already spent of our tax money???

Oklahoma Citizen should read Carol's post. (Don't you know the difference between an insult and an assault?)

Wilson was telling the truth, whether the setting was appropriate or not. He was merely articulating what many were thinking. Obama was not being honest about the intent of the proposed legislation.

I think that they should scrap the whole bill and then go back to Congress and the Senators and scrap them also. What they have done to our beloved America is such a short time is unbelieveable. Get rid of them all especially the Czars, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank,Shumer, Clinton and the whole bunch. Shame on them and shame on Obama for not doing anything about these people especially Rangle, Peloise, Frank and Dodd.

I want *real* health care reform -- not a bill that subsidizes the health care industry's continued screwing over of Americans. And worse, it forces those who don't currently buy health insurance into this extortion racket.

If this is the best Obama and the Democrats can do (kowtow to the Health Insurance Industry), we would be better off with no "reform" at all. I'm still waiting for the President and the Congress to "evolve" a spine.

The executive, legislative and judicial offices sworn to uphold the United States constitution and the will of the People of this Republic, have betrayed those they have given oath to. They took oath to defend, preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States. We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
They do not serve individuals for whom our country are made up of, they serve their own political careers and multi-national corporations' greed to entrain and debilitate our people with polluted waterways, land and by holding monopolies on the food industry whereby they have dumped toxins, poisons and other dangerous substances into that which we must eat. Pharmaceutical companies create substances that do nothing but mask ill health and add to the debilitated state of already compromised systems. Vaccines inject pollutants and toxins which damage and destroy immune systems. We are a nation that has no resemblance to the healthy, free and independent nation that once was America. We are being destroyed from within. All that we have built through our own hard work has been dismantled and sold to other parts of the world. What is left if we will not take a stand and say to this evil, YOU SHALL NOT PASS! Pray that God will give us the wisdom to do what is right and just. To love others as we love ourselves.
