Polls show significant opposition to health care reform proposals in Congress. Should Congress and Obama scap these bills and start over?

This care plan will be just like the medicaid plan , I work for doctors and they will not take medicaid , because it does not pay what the doctors are asking, so they refuse to take the medicaid, so now our great president is making a big mistake, the doctors will ban together and refuse medicare and then the elderly will be left out and also out in the cold, because NO DOCTOR will except the medicare plan and they have that right to ban together and not except those patients that have medicare, which are the majority elderly , so there you have it , the elderly will suffer extremely.....I think he should have left well enough alone, he has his little hands in everything, trying to fix everything and going no where, just starting things and not finishing any thing.....I DID NOT VOTE FOR THIS PRESIDENT AT ALL....DON'T BLAME ME WHEN THIS GREAT USA BECOMES A SOCILISTIC PLACE ....PEOPLE WE ARE LOSING OUR FREEDOM , THAT OUR TROOPS HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR .....READ YOUR BIBLE AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR GOV'T....

Serious action should be taken on this issue...........

The executive, legislative and judicial offices sworn to uphold the United States constitution and the will of the People of this Republic, have betrayed those they have given oath to. They took oath to defend, preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States. We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
They do not serve individuals for whom our country are made up of, they serve their own political careers and multi-national corporations' greed to entrain and debilitate our people with polluted waterways, land and by holding monopolies on the food industry whereby they have dumped toxins, poisons and other dangerous substances into that which we must eat. Pharmaceutical companies create substances that do nothing but mask ill health and add to the debilitated state of already compromised systems. Vaccines inject pollutants and toxins which damage and destroy immune systems. We are a nation that has no resemblance to the healthy, free and independent nation that once was America. We are being destroyed from within. All that we have built through our own hard work has been dismantled and sold to other parts of the world. What is left if we will not take a stand and say to this evil, YOU SHALL NOT PASS! Pray that God will give us the wisdom to do what is right and just. To love others as we love ourselves.

I want *real* health care reform -- not a bill that subsidizes the health care industry's continued screwing over of Americans. And worse, it forces those who don't currently buy health insurance into this extortion racket.

If this is the best Obama and the Democrats can do (kowtow to the Health Insurance Industry), we would be better off with no "reform" at all. I'm still waiting for the President and the Congress to "evolve" a spine.

  • Oklahoma CItizen - 15 years ago

Sorry California Citizen, I misread your comment. I will agree with you though, Wilson was right, Obama is lying, AND, wouldnt you know it, the all powerful Democrap House is going to reprimand him for doing so

  • JoanMackie - 15 years ago

I think that they should scrap the whole bill and then go back to Congress and the Senators and scrap them also. What they have done to our beloved America is such a short time is unbelieveable. Get rid of them all especially the Czars, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank,Shumer, Clinton and the whole bunch. Shame on them and shame on Obama for not doing anything about these people especially Rangle, Peloise, Frank and Dodd.

  • California Citizen - 15 years ago

Oklahoma Citizen should read Carol's post. (Don't you know the difference between an insult and an assault?)

Wilson was telling the truth, whether the setting was appropriate or not. He was merely articulating what many were thinking. Obama was not being honest about the intent of the proposed legislation.

  • Pat - 15 years ago

Joe Wilson spoke the truth.... It was all lies. Obama is just telling the American people what they wanted to here, just like when he was campaigning for presidency. Obama promised that he would not sign any bills with out reading them first. How many billions of dollars has he already spent of our tax money???

  • Dick Lord - 15 years ago

    Glenn Beck,

One thing about the health care debates that does not seem to be getting any attention is the idea that our private medical records will be shared with every medical person throughout the US.

I do not want my private medical records shared with every medical and pharmaceutical professional and trainee throughout the US, and I certainly do not want to share any of my personal data with the US Government and its agencies.

I think many people have not considered just what the computerrization of our medical records means.

We need to ask people if they want their their tax returns made available to every accounting assistant and accounting firm secretary throughout the Nation to help Americans to grasp just what the President is advocating with the computerization of our medical data.

    SJ Huisken;

You got it all wrong. Patriotic Americans do not tolerate the man who says this is not a christian nation anymore, who is trying to befriend us with communistic, terroristic, anti-usa nations, who has quadrupled our deficit, and has not proven anything or has fulfilled his so called promises. They also can not tolerate the man who considers us Racist, terroristic bastards.

  • Oklahoma Citizen - 15 years ago

So because the guy called Obama a liar, it is an assault? Well, you are an idiot for thinking that, ooo, Im sorry, I didnt mean to "assault" you

    Whatever

  • California Citizen - 15 years ago

Obama speaks on behalf of the Democrat Party. The person who committed the asault should be arrested. Fox should provide the tape as evidence against him. He does not speak for anyone else, any more than SEIU members with similar behavior.

This issue is too important to rush through, too critical for anything short of overwhelming public support, and its too complex to be unread by most members of Congress. There is too much at stake for this issue to be handled the way it is.

It's time for voters to start holding elected officials accountable. Members of Congress should be given the same choices that average citizens receive, without the special perks. Health care reform, when it is done, should apply to everyone without exception.

  • WB from Oklahoma - 15 years ago

Jim, you might as well start practicing saying "Mein Kempf" and "Heil Obama" if something dont happen quick. You think we might end up in a Cold War?

I know my Pastor said we are to respect authority and pray for those who hold authoristic positions, but how can you do so for a man who is pretty much running the US to the ground, trying to control our lives like we are puppets on a string, and make people like my grandma possibly die from life-risking illnesses because she is 81 and diabetic because of death panels, but yet denies he has said or proposed?

  • Steve Robertson - 15 years ago

Hell, no they shouldn't start over. That's just the delay the health insurance industry wants to buy enough time to stop reform altogether. The private sector has had decades to solve this problem and has spectacularly failed. Also, these FN polls are a distortion. If America were really a democracy we'd have had single-payer 20 years ago. But don't count on FN to tell you the truth about that, since they sell ads to health insurance companies. Murdoch's propaganda machine keeps right on spewing it. They distort, you comply.

So, you need to watch yourself, but hey, if you wanna follow your Black Messiah, you can follow him to unemployment when he visits those he screwed in the butt for jacking up the prices of health care and other things that will cause unemployment to take place

  • UT Sux - 15 years ago

All I hear from these Demo-Crack heads is blah blah blah, blah blah, Obama is God and will save the world, blah blah blah, Conservatives are racist terrorist bastards, blah blah blah

You democraps are full of crap. Obama will not save the world, he is going to make it worse and worse.

Like I said before, hey to bust your bubbles, but there are Republicans who are of color who also disagree with Obama.

  • carole - 15 years ago

Why should we believe Republicans will do anything about health care? When we had a Republican Pres. and Congress nothing was done. They had their chance. Today the Tea Party Express was in Scranton and I saw a man actually strike a woman that was holding a sign for health care. Will Beck or Hannity show that. Fox taped it. They were there.

  • California Citizen - 15 years ago

There were so many misdirections and outright falacies last night that it's difficult to narrow it down. If bipartisan means that both parties are involved, why is legislation being advanced that is completely partisan? If Obama meant what he said, that legislation would already be scrapped.

When Obama said that the proposal would not apply to illegal immigrants, did he know that there is not requirement to confirm citizenship for eligibility? Excluding anyone and then not providing the means to do so is meaningless.

We live in a representative democracy, despite the claims of those who support Obama and dismiss the opinions of thier fellow citizens. Health care reform should be rewritten with bipartisan input, and then tabled for citizen reveiw for (6) months. All elected officials should be subject to it. Any legislation that is this important and complicated deserves a complete public review. The midterm elections would be a valuable confirmation that voters are being heard, if we are to live by our ideals. Do you think Democrats are willing to take that chance? I think not!

Sadly, Democrats are rushing to pass legislation before the midterms, before angry voters can stop them. Anytime an elected representative is unwilling or afraid to stand before his/her constituents, democratic ideals are being violated.

  • Cami - 15 years ago

I checked out the other news stations that were more likely to be visited by dem rights, guess what, they say their polls indicate 2/3 of the people agree with Obama's Health care plans. So if fox says that their polls which are more likely to be visited by Reps, Conservatives, and Independants say their polls indicate that Obamas Health plan approval has gone down. Why argue about it just go back to the news where your ideas seem justified. But keep your eye's on us RCI FOX lovers because if you weren't so busy defending your yes vote you would see that what is said on Glen Beck and other like programs are true.

  • Cami - 15 years ago

Hastily putting the cart before the horse is never a good idea, ya know like with the cars for clunkers program.

“Slow down Obama and relax a bit, catch up on your smoking, you have 4 years to show everyone how wonderful you are, you will be worshipped by all soon enough”said satan.

  • Jean - 15 years ago

True enough, Obama could sell refrigerators to Eskimoes, his slick talking has gotten him to the position he is in. However, his actions speak much louder than his words. Trailing behind this "Health Care" fiasco - the buy-out of the banks, the auto industry, the 'stimulas bill,' Cash for Clunkers, etc. All were touted as major 'fixes' for our economy. Listening to him - most people initially believed it all. However, results have shown that what he says and what actually happens can be totally different. If you look forward to the obvious results, you see this will wreak havoc on our medical system.

Why can we not fix Medicare and Medicaid, allow those we hear so desperately need insurance to be added to Medicaid, and simply clean up all the fraud and abuse in those two programs. By the way, these programs would not be in such a state if the government had not 'borrowed' from them to pay for other pet projects. That should have never been allowed!
We should clean up what we have instead of manufacturing another mismanaged government program.

I would rather see current 'pay for uninsured' aspect continue as it is, rather than have the government in charge of America's healthcare!

  • Donna K - 15 years ago

As usual, last nights speech was long on rhetoric and short on substance. If 5% of the population signs on for the public option which is what he said last night, and it will be sustainable by the premiums that they pay since they won't have overhead, adminstrative costs, etc, then the president needs to go back to school and take some math classes. He said the bill won't pay for illegals, but again, that doesn't make sense, since they will still be able to go to any emergency room in the country, so how exactly does health reform fix that? He said no federal dollars for abortion, but when you read the bill again, (I think it's page 433), there it is, abortion. He said there are no death panels. Death panels is a bad phrase (totally misunderstood) but on page 1233, mandatory end of life counseling (and that's what people oppose). Maybe, he needs to read the bill before he makes statements to the American people.

Aside from all that, I'm just tired of the bickering and blame game. It needs to stop, and Mr. Obama is very guilty of that. If you don't like what someone says, just deal with it, stop with the little snide comments (and he's a master at that). Also, he needs to put a muzzle on Axlerod.

I also saw some comment about the czars. My feeling on that is that we (the taxpayer) are paying out at the very least $4 million in taxes for salaries for these guys. They need to be vetted or Mr. Obama can pay their salaries out of his own personal funds.

  • David Murphy - 15 years ago

We live in a very bad time, when the president of the US can force an issue such as Health Care down the throath of hard working Americans. He has proven over and over that he wants complete control of this nation. His pastor prayed, I heard him, for God to Damn this nation and that took place in November 2008 with the 66M ignorant people that voted for this man and his party. I pray that GOD Bless America, let her people stand strong against evil and prevail, let this man and his party fall to their knees as Saul did when YOU shown that bright light in his eyes. LORD forgive them, they know not what they do. YOU gave our forefathers the knowledge to build this nation on YOUR principles and we do not want that to dissipate. LORD touch these leaders and place CHANGE in their hearts the most important CHANGE and only CHANGE that is relavant, that YOU are our leader and only way this nation will continue to be the greatest in history.

  • Stephanie Corley - 15 years ago

I don't see why the government just doesn't raise the salary requirements for Medicaid so that the working poor will qualify for that government ran program. Raise it by 20,000 per year and see how many qualify. This program is already in force. There should be some oversight on the insurance companies as well. We need to work with what we already have in place. Working middle class families can not afford all of the Obama taxes that are coming down the pike. Health care, energy, etc. Middle class America lives paycheck to paycheck. How does Obama think all of these plans and the taxes that come with them will help us.

I have a family member living in Canada and keeps insurance in this country after almost dieing a childbirth because there was no surgeon present she had to wait until one showed up and almost did not make it. She remembers lying there being told to hold on a little longer. She now keeps insurance for her and her children in this country due to many problems in Canada. We think because this is the US things like this will not happen here. Or the family who waited for cataract surgery for their mother. She was placed on a waiting list. She just recently got a call for the surgery. Unfortunately, she will not get the procedure. She died around a year ago. Or the person who left Australia because of the lack of work and medical care. She agrees things need to be done only moving down this area becomes a slippery slope. I have not been happy with the other side either. They have had chance to make changes only it did not happen. Yet, the opposing side has had a plan for months only its ideas never seem to reach the main stream press. I know the states were there are more choices in health care the costs go down and the service come up. With the increase of spending already being done why are we adding more deficit right now? Why does this need to be done so quickly? If the plan has so much merit than why worry about debate. If there are the votes why worry about what Fox or anyone else thinks? If you have it all together why worry about the opinions of others at all. If people want to push a bill through it makes me think what is there they may not want us to know. I would ask these questions no matter who is in congress. Funny after moving around other stations web sites there is few areas to allow people to put in their own comments. So if this News media is so off why are the rating so high on Fox and if you got everything hands down why bother with this site? Sadly, those of us in the middle trying to make educated decisions can not even ask questions or put out concerns looking for input without being slammed. I heard how one side is using it voice to scare people in the last few opinions I see some very negative personal attacks from the other side. How is that OK? I lived with a child having a major disease and high medical bills and am still paying them off. Over many years I have kept in touch with parents in other countries and hear the heart felt sorrow of lack of medical attention for a child needing it. Inability to contact a doctor or specialist for help when medications need changing or adjusting. Medications that need constant monitoring of blood levels on a monthly basis or severe consequences can occur when you are not able to see a doctor for months. Since they need a specialist it can be 3 or more months until that can happen. Parents at wits end watching their child suffer and not having the ability to get help or even go to the emergency room since those doctors are not specialist and will refer them back to the specialist. Necessary tests needed to confirm medical attention on a waiting lists. This is something that I have personally seen for years. It hurts when my child is suffering and recovering from the effects of medications when I had options and other did not. I can imagine the frustration of a parent that does not have many choices. Yes, there needs to be change only I would like more options out there for all to see and more working together and less bickering between sides. If either group believes in their proposal they should not be afraid of? I am not writing this to scare anyone only to inform that these are true experiences and things that happen and parents are in debt like us only they have few choices due to the overworked system. This happens to young and old alike. We take for granted even if you do not have insurance there are some options out there. Choices that some in other countries do not have where the gov. runs insurance.

  • SJ Huisken - 15 years ago

Joe Wilson and extreme Right radicals showed shock-jock sensibility in their boorish behavior on the national stage in Congress last night. Would his children in the military ever behave so disrespectfully? I do not think that they would ever dream of yelling insults at their Commander-In-Chief. Patriotic Americans do not tolerate such outrageous behavior from public servants, who should be modeling the highest courtesy and respect for authority. What is behind Wilson’s irrational destructiveness? Could it be that Southern bigots are now venting their frustrations via Wilson now that Jim Crow is dead? If South Carolina citizens are true patriots, they will push for Wilson’s resignation. Otherwise this begins an ugly new legacy of intolerance and disrespect. Isn’t it time for Joe to go?

  • futurel - 15 years ago

Pathetic poll. Any professional would have thrown those three (3) questions and the way they were asked immediately. Faux News should be asshamed of themselves. Fair and Balanced???????????????????????????????? Are you freaking kidding? OK...try this on for starters. What does "significant amount of voters" mean? Does it mean 10%? 20% What? Every single poll shows a majority of the people in this country want healthcare reform. Not 5 years from now..not 3, but NOW. Now Faux news may "SPIN' this anyway they want, but this time they lose! NOT this time and not this year.

  • joj - 15 years ago

Fox News spins again... Headline: "Rep. Joe Wilson apologizes after shouting at Obama as he talked about insuring illegals." Wha??? Obama was talking about NOT insuring illegals. Anyone who did not hear the "You Lie" exchange for themselves will read this headline and believe the exact opposite of Obama's intention. Fox is lying to the American people again. One of many examples. I think most of you Fox Republicans are perfectly fine with Fox lying to you. Pathetic!

  • Ann - 15 years ago

Jeannie, Well, I guess you are then one of the mindless Americans who Obama can obviously brainwash with his unrealistic and lofty goals of more affordable insurance with coverage to everyone that will be paid for by the Medicare savings and will not add one penny to the deficit. He wants to take away the Medicare advantage program for seniors. This program is actually saving the government money and putting the risk on the so called nasty insurance companies who actually have the nerve to want to make a profit (god forbid that we have capitalism in this country). Health insurance does need reform. Insurance companies do need to remove preexisting condition exclusions; however, this will come at a price to the premiums. Since the health insurance risk pools will significantly increase and cost insurance companies more money, which equates to premium increases since the costs are passed to the consumer. We do need tort reform; however, Obama and Congress representatives are getting too much lobbying money/perks from the lawyer lobbyists to even consider the idea of tort reform.

Regarding the public option, this will be another huge tax burden to tax payers. The public option will wind up having huge deficits, and the govt will have to step in and bail it out, thereby causing our taxes to go up or our deficit to go up. Nothing is free. Looking how well the USPS is doing - they have huge deficits. If the taxes do not eventually go up, then rationing of health care will have to occur to cut costs. Rationing of health care does eventually lead to the govt not paying for services that they consider not to be prudent. For example, when your elderly parent needs a liver transplant, however, based on statistics the Government run health board determines that the parent would regardless probably only have 1 or 2 years left before he or she dies. Thus it would not be cost effective to pay for the transplant. So, in Obama's own words, it may be best to give the parent pain pills until they die.

Obama needs to hire accountants who can actually show him a realistic picture- not just what he wants to hear or believe. He is obviously not listening to the CBO auditors (who know what they are talking about).

Regarding his putting down of the Republican (and independents') opinions, I guess it is okay for him to discount their opinions and we should consider his opinion to be gospel since his way is the only way. Obama will be definitely a one term President!!!!! And, as for Pelosi, I hope the voters in her district see what an idiot she is, and vote her out at the next elections.

So, Jeannie, do not complain when your insurance premiums go up or health care will be rationed. Look at Canada's health care system where their citizens are coming to our country for health care since they have to wait months to see a doctor (by the way, Canada is the country to the north of the United States). Per Obama's own words, he wants universal care for everyone and he hates insurance companies (those nasty companies who actually want to make a profit). Maybe you will one of the lucky ones where the Obama government health board determines a critical life saving procedure is unnecessary. Hope you will not get too sick from taking all those pain pills.

I am for some reform, but not Socialism !

Laws/legislation is a far better option:
    * Enable to cross state borders for health ins (competition).
    * Prevent ins companies from increasing or droping your health ins, because of illness.
    * Tort reform.
    * Some type of constraint on pharmaceutical companies
(example, $4000 for monthly supply cancer medication, is a scam!).

    I am very opposed to:
1). The government to get bigger and bigger !
2). The government spending money they do not have !

  • Debbie - 15 years ago

I cannot believe how ignorant some of these comments are. Obviously a lot of you did not watch Obama tonight. He clearly explained the proposed healthcare reform plan and stated right up front that nothing changes for people who currently have coverage. He addressed all of the allegations made that are spinning this plan into something horrible for the country. The purpose of the plan is to make sure everyone has health insurance and he presented all of the reasons why this is good for the country. Fox TV and the rest of you who are probably Republicans opposed to the healthcare reform cannot stand the thought that a Democratic president could make a change that is so positive for the country. None of the Republicans ever proposed healthcare reform. The best we got was George Bush implementing an RX drug program for the elderly that has cost the country billions and he never had a plan in place to pay for. This is the type of person the Republicans want in office. I've always considered myself an independent but will probably never vote Republican again after listening to the politicans on that side of the fence spinning lies about the plan in an attempt to thwart any effort to pass healthcare reform. If Obama wasn't pushing so hard for this the Republicans would just as soon let it die as there is little, if any, interest on their part to do anything for the country. It's true, the Republicans are all about greed, money and how every law they pass benefits them and their party. Oh, they throw something in now and then for the country like Bush passing a bill to provide better drug coverage for seniors. Guess what, he never made any plan or thought through how the country would pay for this and left billions of dollars in debt over this program to Obama - now that's great leadership! Obama has thought through everything very carefully and has presented an excellent argument and I hope the bill passes. I'm not saying there may not be wrinkles but he's done a hell of a better job than George Bush did with the RX plan. Anyone who's going to challenge what Obama said tonight on TV should come out and speak to each specific aspect of the plan and state where Obama is allegedly lying. From what I see, HE did his homework on the issue and has addressed all of the rumors and lies conjured up by the alleged intelligent and honest Republicans who want nothing more than to assure no healthcare reform bill gets passed. Obama is honest, has integry, morals, says what he believes and thinks about what is best for the country - not what is best for Barak Obama, his family and the people he knows personally. Can't say that about a majority of the politicans and I'm throwing almost all of the Republicans into that camp. If healthcare reform doesn't happen - it won't be his fault. It will be the fault of the Congress who has an agenda that is not in the best interest of the country and all the ignorant citizens who cannot see that this country is lacking in the healthcare provided to its citizens.

I just want to wake up and this nightmare called Obama will be gone.. I don't want this man making decisions for me.. I did not ask him to..and, I never will.. Obama is creepy and totally someone that I could never trust.. people can say what they may about President Bush, but, when he spoke to our school kids, I didn't worry about the topic, or that he would be trying to brainwash our kids..

a word to Obama, TRY LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE, REALLY LISTEN!!

Any formally educated person with a heartbeat would agree with his passion to make sure that EVERY AMERICAN has affordable health care. Health care should be a right, not a luxury. I also think that if we can spend billions of dollars in a country half way across the world then we should be able to spend it here in our great nation... well, once great nation. Greed has over taken the people that we call "our fellow americans". Wise up people, open your eyes and see that these insurance companies (and lobbyist--we all know who the are) are killing people left and right by denying them the healthcare that could potentially save their lives.

Socialistic? Are you kidding me? Are we a socialized society because the government runs the Postal Service or other important services that we are lucky to have? Are we a socialist country because we have free education for our children, here in America? Uh huh, nope, we are not!

P.S. Watch out! President Obama might be knocking at your front door next week in order for you to hand over your guns. LOL! And I thought that little rabbit was silly!

I see they really need to reform healthcare so some of you can get the sorely needed brain operations you seem to desperately need. Although, who knows, maybe semi-literate drivel is normal in the circles many of you apparently surround yourselves in. After the last eight years, maybe "stupid" is the new "smart". You folks need to read a book perhaps, and discover what communism actually is. Although , I suspect, you'll not be finding any books inside Rupert Murdoch's rump, where many seem to have their craniums firmly lodged.

Obama is at least trying to help the people who need healthcare and are struggling. If you are trying to get by and pay your bills and don't find you have lots of extra income to pay for health care-Get on board, stand up for yourself and your family and support Obama who is trying to help the middle class and the poor. If you want to continue to pay high insurance premiums for the rest of your life then do nothing and support the Republicans.

The government health plan is going provide with "another option." Compare it to the school system. Public schools are another option. Are they really bad, do they represent a waste of tax money? People who wants to go to a public school can do it and people who can afford to go to private schools are free to do so. Same here people who can't get private insurance will have "another option" and people who decides to keep their current insurance coverage and doctors are free to do so? What is wrong with that? I do not understand. What part of "you can keep your current doctor and your current insurance" people do not understand? The same people who opposed medicare and medicaid back in the days are the ones happy using it now in their elderly, just think about it.

What a loaded question! "New polls show...." I am glad there is a disclaimer at the bottom that "poll is not scientific". Do you people still think that disagreeing with the President is Unpatriotic. I am glad you have a voice, although, I strongly disagree. Please check your facts, public option would save tax payer money, since that seems to be the most important factor for many of you. Never mind lives, or integrity or the american way.

There are some questions which need to be answered. Questions regardless of your political affiliation, sexual orientation, doesn't matter if you are red-necked, brown-skinned or black-eyed, almost everyone answers these questions the same way.

Is the medical system of the United States functionally broken? There is only one answer, yes.

Is the medical system of the United States driven by the same capitalistic spirit which fuels other NGOs? There is only one answer, yes.

Is the medical system of the United States represented in Congress by both parties via large campaign donations and via large lobbying efforts? There is only one answer, yes.

Are there people of the greatest country in the world, subjected to second rate health care as a trade off for first rate profiteering? There is only one answer, yes.

At what point, do we the American people begin to start demanding protection from financial ruin from outlandish medical expenses, demanding protection from organizations who examine my cost burden before considering my right to proper treatment, when do we earn the right as a people to not wear the weight and burden of fighting for the right to live with adequate medical care.

Wake up America. The problem we are trying to solve is already fixed in most of the developed world. Japan, Canada, Sweden, France, Germany, pick another major world power and our US health care system ranks below.

Our average life expectancy is lower. Our infant morality rate is higher.

Why? Because we allow our medical system to be driven by the dollar and not driven by the exact Hippocratic doctors are sworn by. To keep the patient from harm and injustice.

For those who are concerned with an alternative system, don't opt for it. Pay for your existing coverage via your employer. Enjoy the benefits of the new system, as your current insurer will now be forced to compete with other options. The current insurers will not be able to remove people arbitrarily from their programs and will not be able to push ridiculous financial burdens onto the backs of the hard working men and women in the US.

And most importantly, those who are unable to be insured for existing conditions, self employment or unemployment will not go without the basic medical conditions life requires.

    Choose life, not greed.

  • John - 15 years ago

I just don't see why we have to jump in with both feet. They talk about health insurance like it's completely broken. It's not. It just needs to be tweaked. I think it's just too much at a time.

5 vivable health insurance plans offered in my state

The first thing 0bama said was that no tax money will pay for abortions under this plan. However, the first thing he did when he was inaugurated was to NATIONALIZE abortions so we pay for abortions worldwide. So, is he going to repeal that? I doubt it.

I saw how California's health care went bankrupt by caring for illegal aliens. This happened a number of years ago. Correct me if I am wrong, but the President want's to provide health care for all illegals now. Why can't we focus on our Citizens, Black ,White ,Hispanic etc, and take care of our own nation. We have enough single mother's and single parent households not to mention returning War Veterans that are US Citizen's. I would like to see these folks receive a helping hand before we support another give away for the illegals that plunder the systems that we now have in place.

  • Realist - 15 years ago

Speaking of people being against the Health Insurance reforms; I noticed that last night Fox News reported about the Tea Party in Troy Michigan and reported an attendance of "8,000 to 10,000", HOWEVER according to Americans for Tax Reform, http://www.atr.org/updated-people-attended-tax-tea-parties-a3138#
a group that certainly is in favor of the Tea Parties, the attendance in Troy Michigan was 2,000. Great job of over estimating by 400% to 500%. This makes me wonder what other stories this network is reporting inaccurately.

  • Liberty Lady - 15 years ago

I think the current healthcare reform bill should not only be scrapped, it should also NOT BE REPLACED. It is not a legitimate function of the federal government to be in the healthcare business. Insurance should be written only for the risk of financial catastrophe should a medical crisis happen to a person, not to insure the person for every office visit, X-ray, etc. You can't insure health, only the financial risk of a catastrophic illness. By inserting a third-party-- whether it's an insurance company or the government --between the doctor and patient, you break the patient's sense of personal responsibility and accountability-- that an individual is responsible for his or her own health. Many, if not most, of the major illnesses in this country are due to poor lifestyle choices, which are entirely within the control of the individual. Also, a third party system makes it more expensive and aggravating for the average doctor to practice.

I agree with the others who suggest we should scrap the entire Obama Administration. The only caveat is that the Republicans have not demonstrated that they could offer any better alternatives. It's time for REAL CHANGE in America....a return to what made this country great in the first place: limited government and the sovreignty of the individual.

  • MC Kent - 15 years ago

Hats off to Joe Wilson for his shout out tonight during Obama's speech. I think it's the first time Nancy Pelosi moved her eyebrows since she got her botox shots.

  • Janet - 15 years ago

Its like tearing down a house when you need it painted. Just fix what you don't like, don't completely dismantle our healthcare system to fix a few problems. There is NO NEED for government run healthcare, allow competition between existing health insurance companies. A government run health ins. is like having Walmart move in, close down the little guys, then raise their prices. KEEP FIGHTING THIS, NOTHING HAS CHANGED

  • linda - 15 years ago

Small "new"business speaking out. I decided to start a new business in the mist of all the craziness. I am proud to say I am surviving but barely. I went into this business eyes wide open and knew success was up to me...If the government makes me buy insurance....I will not be able to afford it... It is not in my 3 year plan and something I know I cannot afford.. So I am VERY CONCERNED to see the "plan" before it is approved. Yes, I agree health care is messed up..I have way to many stories to share to that fact. But dictating to me on how to run MY business is an issue. I do not know the answer, I have not sen the answer yet and believe the government, rather republican or democrat has not learned how to be $$$ responsible and do not believe government knows how to run a business!

    So very concerned citizen ....

  • Gunrunner - 15 years ago

Joanne L. you are absolutely correct. Nationalized...er ah, National Health coverage is THE "single greatest crisis of our time"...for LESS than 2% of the U.S. population ("50 million Americans" your Dummycrat numbers). Back in the 70's and 80's, when I was young and stupid and thought I could rely on my own intelligence, education, motivation, and business savvy to run my own business and raise a family NOBODY gave a tinker's dam if I could afford insurance for my wife, children or myself. Now, tell me once again why I should be forced to give up the very good insurance I have now, settle for some sub-standard crap-coverage that "the government" owns (and will eventually run into the ground) and pay for YOUR coverage at the same time!!! What in your bleeding heart, mush-headed, thinking makes this fair to me or anyone else who has worked for and earned what they have?

Hey Bill O'Reilly, I found a whole bunch of volunteers to be the PINHEADS on your next show ! It just seems unbelievable to read some of these responses. Social Security is already just about bankrupt so I will never see it even though we are required to continue to pay for it. I find it numbing that some of these posts don't get this has nothing to do with race. All have groups that want to bust their humps to live the American dream all the way down to those that want the government to wipe their arses for generations and never have to bother voting, so let's put that to rest. I and MANY others don't think this country is in need of the "Messiah's" rebuilding efforts. I know the true Messiah already has a plan for that soon enough. It's sad to see so many people sucked into Nobama's act that they voted for him simply because he is black and now they cant bring themselves to admit they aren't getting what they were sold. Swallow hard, admit it, and step up to help correct this ! I saw my 1st Impeach Obama sticker the other day so who says we have to wait til 2012. It would be great if the BOBBLEHEADS on the Hill would band together and stop this nonsense like they have no power to distinguish right from wrong and let these few steamroll over the whole country. Do your jobs or get out and we WILL help you either way ! Lord help us all !

  • Buster - 15 years ago

If the president withdraws his health care proposals for a period of bipartisan reconsideration-- "resets"-- he might regain that popularity which he is now steadily losing. If he presses ahead now against the wishes of the electorate, he will be a political zero for the remainder of his term. Resetting is the smart-- and statesmanlike-- move. But has he the humility?

Nancy Mussolini has made it quite clear how she and Opie Bin Laden feel about Americans' distrust of/resistance to OpieCare. They don't give a rat's ass. Some version of this crap, Socialist legislation will be shoved down our throats by year's end, and anyone who publically opposed it will be on a "terrorist watch list".

Opie Bin Laden is a megalomaniac Nazi. He is building his own little cadre of mindlessly loyal flacks (see: "Czars", although he should really be honest and just call them "Underfuhrers"), and as soon as he has enough, he will simply suspend the Constitution and take over the government.

  • arch rambeau - 15 years ago

Let me get this straight: 85 to 90% of the public is satisfied with their current health care and some politicians who won't participate in it want to REFORM our entire health system for trillions of dollars! Should be an absolute no brainer" NO" for even the least brilliant of us!

  • AWD - 15 years ago

Larry, appreciate your dedication to Mr. Obama, irrelevant, but nice. I can't say that all debate on the subject has been 100% reasoned on either side. You have given a great example of your side avoiding the facts and thereby hiding from the issue. Happy to help you. Two simple questions 1) Where in the constitution does the President get his authority to become the nations insurance provider, 2) Give an example of where the federal bureaucracy has effectively accomplished anything like this [collecting taxes is not answer].

  • GAIA - 15 years ago

When is this nightmare of a president going to be over why hasn’t he been impeached yet ? This president with this Clinton failed program has got to go. What kind of a person would bring this up at this time in our history a person that owes a very big favor to Hillary. This healthcare thing is just another insurance program to Robb the American people. So they can replace the money that they have already squandered. You don’t give people especial these classless people another chance to steal from you would you.!!!!! Ask Ben Bernanke he’s hiding something I can see it in his eyes. The same as I can see that Nancy Pelosi is a megalomaniac don’t let these people go any further

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed. Now we are trusting the economy of our country, our banking system, our auto industry and possibly our health plans to the same nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling whiskey!"

We have glaring problem here We have a socialist markist pres. and cabinet why aren't our congressmen and senators taking action to stop this president from appointing Communists to his advisers?? WE must insist they disallow this czar thing . There should be no one unelected running our country! Period!

  • pd - 15 years ago

it's a trick question really I don't want the government or my congress messing with my health care. I want competition with insurance companies I don't think it is the responsibility of business owners to foot the bill . If we are all working and we have a healthy economy we should be able to buy our own insurance .

  • Glen - 15 years ago

The real question is: Is the reduction in public support primarily due to the right-wing lies and distortions that mislead people about "death panels", "socialism", the costs of the status quo vs. new proposals, etc?

  • Norma - 15 years ago

We The People don't trust Obama to talk to our school kids until he changed the original text. How can we possibly trust him to control our health care (or health insurance, etc.). He is in over his head. He doesn't have the experience to be our DEAR LEADER. He should step down.

  • Glen - 15 years ago

What a stupid poll. No specifics about what people want or don't want in a health-care plan, just "start over". What good would that do?

  • Fred - 15 years ago

You can not solve a complex problem like health care until our leaders understand the problems and agree on steps to take to solve each one. Otherwise, the only thing that happens is moving the problems to another area. The result is not a solution. If you move the problem, you have not solved it. How do you know that you have solved a complex problem? You know because the solutions offered do not create new problems. And a good solution usually comes with a high degree of agreement from all parties.

A poor solution perpetuates both old and new problems. No victory for anyone.

  • merreck - 15 years ago

I agree with Obama. All Americans should have good health care. Just because someone is rich they shouldn't get the best care while a poor person suffers. the government should run it all and then it would be equal. I can't imagine why everyone on here complains so much about obama. he is for fairness. But there are just a few of you in the total of people. thank goodness for that.

Please Mr. Obama please re-think your healthcare vision! We the American people did not vote for you to radicalize our country! We did not ask YOU to turn over wholesale the engine of our growth. Yes we all agree there are problems that need addressing. But that does not mean scraping everything and replacing this problem with an even bigger problem. Take each problem we are facing and call both sides of the debate into the room and say "alright here is our problem how do we fix it?" What Mr. Obama is wrong with that approach?

In my opinion Mr. Obama one big mistake you made was allowing politics and ideology to trump common sense and reason. The speaker of the House and the Senate majority leaders are far and away to far left in their thinking. You Mr. Obama are the leader you should be setting the agenda not them!

AS I STATED EARLIER OREGON IS A STATE GOVERNMENT SYSTEM NOT PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES AND THEY ARE PROPOSING A GOVERNMENT PLAN JUST LIKE THEM. THEN THEY WILL KILL ALL THE WAGNERS IN THE USA THAT HAVE CANCER REQUIRING A EXPENSIVE PILL AS NOT COST EFFECTIVE.

OBAMA HAS STATED THAT HE DOES NOT THINK HIS OWN GRANDMOTHER HAD A COST EFFECTIVE HIP REPLACEMENT BECAUSE SHE HAD CANCER. UNLESS THEY TRY DRUGS AND OPERATIONS ON THE SICK THEY WILL NEVER GET TO THAT PLACE LIKE THE ARTIFICIAL HEART WHICH FAILED MANY TIMES BEFORE THEY GOT THE PROCEDURE CORRECT. AND HE WOULD HAVE PATIENTS REMAIN IN BED, NOT GET UP TO GO THE BATHROOM UNTIL THEY DIE. IS INHUMAN.

I HAVE READ THE BILL AND HEARD WHAT HAS BEEN SAID AND THIS IS NOT HEALTH CARE REFORM, NOT HEALTH CARE CUT COSTS, NOT HEALTH CARE CHOICE AS EVERYONE HAS SAID THIS IS THERE STEP TO SINGLE PAYER AND CONTROL. THIS IS NOT FOR THE PEOPLE , BY THE PEOPLE.

HISTORY SHOULD NOT BE REWRITTEN AS IT WORKS. THE FOUNDERS WANTED NO GOVERNMENT BUT DID NOT WANT ANARCHY SO THEY HAD A SMALL GOVERNMENT. WE HAVE DESTROYED THAT WITH BIGGER GOVERNMENT.OUR ECONOMY WILL NOT SURVIVE ANOTHER ADDITION BUT NEED TO FIND A WAY TO CUT COSTS.

MY FAMILY REFINANCED, DECREASED CABLE AND PHONE COSTS, ETC.TO LIVE WITHIN OUR MEANS AND WE WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO DO THE SAME FOR GOVERNMENT AND OUR HEALTH INSURANCE. AND YOU KNOW WE LIKE THE REDUCED COSTS. AMAZING.

  • Ryan - 15 years ago

We have death panels NOW... It's called the medical insurance companies.... Over 20% of medical claims are declined and people end up dying because of it. If that's not a death panel I don't know what is...
Obama's healthcare plan isn't perfect, but you'll never convince people that are against everything Obama comes up with. The current system is not working... We need other options. Come up with a better idea or shut up!
