Second the comment on the red wine. As a red wine is the de facto standard pairing for beef/red meat, it also pairs excelently with a thick, gourmet style burger. My recommendation is a spicy zinfandel.

Strange that you would include Root Beer, but not Ginger Ale.

There was no place to vote for red wine. Depending upon the time of day/evening when I eat a hamburger, I usually opt for a decent glass or two of cabernet sauvingnon (perhaps in the $8 - $10 per bottle range).
I usually drink iced tea with no sugar or wine
