Are you okay with your child watching Obama's speech to schools on Tuesday?

Obama's speech may not be the best use of his time but I can only imagine how it could make all of the children feel really important. Growing up in the 60's, no one cared what we felt or thought.
What does concern me are some of the comments that have been written about President Obama, health care and other issues. (see the cbs poll on your website.) I am disgusted by the ignorance and lies concerning his agenda. We have a President and a Congress who wants to reach out and help the lower and middle classes by easing their burdens. No one wants to "kill old people and babies." No one wants to mandate health care. However, if something isn't done, most of us won't be able to afford care with or without insurance. I just want people to wake up, get the facts, and focus on issues that are "real." I just wish people would have been this concerned when our past president started sending our men and women into a needless war. I don't hear these critics voicing their outrage about their needless deaths and injuries that have forever changed their lives and their families.

I feel strongly about this happening.If he can be there,the they need to put OUR GOD back in schools where he belongs too! GOD is all mighty,he knows everything,when & where its going too happen.No I was not there when they 1st sent our men off too war,I am here today & Standing Firm in another I believe in IS GOD ALMIGHTY!

I do agree we need reform but I am completely against a public option. Common sense alone tells me that a public option would eventually lead to Government run health care. Why? Because, insurance companies cannot compete with an organization that does not have to profit to operate. At this point some people are asking what's wrong with that, free health care. The Government does not have to profit because at any given time they can simply raise taxes and STILL the revenue it needs from you and I to pay for what some consider free health care. Then after the insurance industry is depleted thousands of people have now lost their jobs and income crippling the economy even more. That being said, a total takeover of the health care system by the government could very well lead to rationing of treatments. This is where AKA: Death panels come in which are appropriately named. Where would your money go? On the 85 year old lady who may not even make it through a surgery or the 35 year old teacher that could be a productive member of society for another 40 years. Government conclusion "KILL GRANDMA" We are not just talking about these two people and a $50,00 decision, It is millions of people and billions of dollars, somebody gonna do without. There is also planned parenting in this bill and that does consist of funding for abortions. I can't speak for everyone but I would not pay for my own daughter to get an abortion, darn sure don't want to pay for someone else to "KILL BABIES". Surely, all those Liberal Democrats with their PHD's and other degrees are smart enough to know this. Then again if it were not for crooked politicians both democratic and republican and their special interest "THEIR OWN INTEREST" health care and medical cost would not be in the shape it is now. Oh yea, don't let me forget CEO's who cannot satisfy their own greed with even seven figure salary. Seems to me that the government is trying to make the lower and middle class completely dependent on them, not trying to ease their burden Mr. Dee. I think you sir need to wake up and get the facts. Here is a fact for you, some of our elected officials who sponsor this one thousand page bill have admitted publicly they have never read it. Here is another fact for you, Obama has said publicly he wants to phase out private health care. Here is one more fact for you, if you read between the lines these people are basically saying they want to rob you and I of the America we know and love. Although they are families and individuals out there are going bad times, at least in the America we live in today we have the opportunity to better ourselves and have a better life. And this is why I am opposed to my children taking part in the Obama’s speech. One more thing Mr. Dee, I do not condone unnecessary war and I just like most Americans still am not quite sure why the Iraq invasion took place. But I have a cousin who is a special forces soldier in the army and he has told me that the majority of Iraqi people appreciate what the United States has done for their country. I believe one thing that would help our country tremendously would be for people to quit looking for hand outs and take personal responsibility lives and the choices they have made. That is the ignorance and lies you should be disgusted with. Meaning people who will not work and even try to be a productive member of society and take care of their selves. So you don’t think that’s easy for you to say: I am 29 year old high school drop out of the ninth grade with a GED. I am currently self employed with no medical insurance and have never drawn not one unemployment check in fourteen year work history. So I too have made some bad decisions in my life but I do not expect you to pay my way through life. This is why I would rather my children follow the examples I set not the example of someone who openly said he wants to STILL what other people have worked all of their lives for and “SPREAD THE WEALTH”.

Dawn, you are also right. If people would pick up the Bible and have faith in Christ the world would be a much better place. For he is the way,the truth and light.

Bush 41 did the same thing addressing kids. There's nothing wrong with addressing kids about the importance of their education. As a matter of fact, if parents would take responsibility for their kids, there would be no need to have to talk to kids about it. They'd be doing things right and our nation's children wouldn't be lacking. So what if he wants them to write a letter to themselves about what their education means to their future? My parents used to make me think about the same things. So what if he wants them to think how they can help our President. That's everyone's responsibility anyway. People want to complain that they don't want the governments involvement in anything but yet no one wants to step up to the plate and handle things themselves. This has nothing to do with God not being in the schools so quit making it about that. It also has nothing to do with his political agendas. What are kids supposed to do? Go home and convince their parents to think the way he does? I'm so tired of the idiots in this world trying to constantly make something out of nothing. People who are constantly twisting things to make everything seems so bad really need to get a life.

I am not sure what everyone is so upset about. When is not a good idea to have the president or anyone with his influence to talk to kids about setting goals and the importance of education. This is not about a political agenda!

Are you OK with hollywood actors or proffesional athleates telling you kids to stay in school, read books or not to smoke? What is the worst thing that could happen here folks really!
