Do you plan to get the flu vaccine this fall?

I voted "No vaccine for me" because, as I understand it, I'm not in the high-risk profile for either the regular flu vaccine or the H1N1 vaccine. I'm a fairly healthy guy in my late 20s with a non-compromised immune system. Save the vaccines for those who need them more such as children, pregnant women and the elderly, I say.

Since I'm have no spleen & have asthma, I will definitely be getting the shots. I always get the regular flu vaccine anyway. Lots of people in our area already have symptoms; some have been definitely diagnosed with H1N1. The shots may be too late for me, but I'll still get them when they are here. I work with the public so it's important.

I have never gotten the flu vaccine before, because I am a healthy adult. However, I now have an infant, who would be at risk of becoming seriously ill, so i will be getting both vaccines this year.

As a substitute teacher I'm exposed to like a bajillion germs every day from all the dirty little children. I'm not too afraid of the regular flu, but since H1N1 seems to affect the young and healthy I'm definitely going to try to get the shot.

I won't be getting either shot. I live up in Juneau, Alaska and we always have shortage issues with the flu shot. The local hospital and clinics generally ask people that aren't high risk to not get the shot as most of them are used up on the elderly, children and people with immune systems that have been compromised for one reason or other. I have gotten the flu shot a couple of times when they've had it at a local supermarket in the past generally to stave off the nagging of my parents. Generally I just don't see the point, maybe down the road when I'm getting older and getting the flu really is a danger, but I'm in my early 30's and I spent the first half my of my 20's working in two middle schools doing tech work and running an after school electronics club, teaching kids how to hack their electronics and do some circuit bending on old speak and spells was so much fun especially seeing how for some of the kids something just clicked and the next thing I knew I was having a hard time keeping up with a few of the kids. I figure with my time spent in the trenches of education my immune system is solid enough.

@Bryce When we have the typical flu, it's very old/very young people who get sick. However, sometimes (actually, the worst cases, ie 1918) young healthy people are more at risk. Having a robust immune system is generally great -- unless your immune system overreacts and kills you.

There's no indication that 2009 H1N1 will mutate in that direction, but something to keep in mind. If the microbes get creative, watch out.

Personally, I'll be getting both vaccines.
