i am 18 and i think it would be wrong to make teens have a curfew because that is takin there freedom away from them. but parnets should not let there 12 and 13 year olds stay out late. that is the parnets jobs to keep up with there curfew.
I think that the curfews will not solve the problem. Maybe something for just the teenagers to do like a teen club or something like that. most of the time teenagers will just rebel to something they do not agree to. Maybe towns should think like a teenager to solve this problem.
I am so proud of Greenville for taking action. Parents will not supervise their children anytime anyplace. They are so irresponsible. Not only are their children put in danger but so is everyone who happens to be in the area. It is difficult enough when dealing with older teens but if parents aren't watching children as young as ten or eleven then action must be taken before the situation grows out of control. I hope that all affected towns follow suit.
I hate to point it out, but it looked like from the video that almost all of the teens were black. What does that say about our community? Is the problem with the system or the mentality of some subcultures? A mob of any color is a threat, and a city must do what is necessary to insure safety.
-Some parents don't understand peer pressure or the problems that often result in unsupervised teen congregation.
-Some parents choose to avoid conflict that surfaces when setting guidelines for their child's behavior.
-Some parents often depend on their child to take on adult responsibilities that lead to expected leniency causing these children to grow up too fast.
These parents don't need fined. They need parental counseling and education.
If you're going to create a curfew, support a program that challenges these teens to promote better family values, more focus on their education, and give them confidence in their future. Hopefully this with pass to their children.
