Oh Goodness YES there have been some real doozies and doorbuster arguments about politics between friends and family...I quit talking to my best friend for 6 months because of some issues. Thankfully, we agree to disagree. I tend to be more on the optimistic side but then politics has been something that has been ingrained in me from such a young age...and I remember the awful days of rationed gasoline under Jimmy Carter, the Watergate hearings, the Iran Contra days and Monica Lewinsky...and if we can survive those days, we Americans can survive ANYTHING and ANYONE...
It is high time that all Americans that love freedom come together and defend our CONSTITUTION, freedom, religion, money, peace, personal choices, such as cars, health insurance, paying less taxes. Enhancing our businesses. LET'S DO IT, LET'S STAND UP AND BE HEARD. GET BUSY LIVING OR GET BUSY DYING. THAT IS WHAT IT WILL COME DOWN TO. DEATH PANEL REMEMBER?
We are all on the same page!
opps...... one 'accquaintance' (not family) - we did because she 'not interested in politics'!
WELL..... she'll never know as long as we all who are AWAKE - and doing something about the GOOD FOR OUR Country!
Such a 'difference' that I don't give her my $$$'s any more for having my nails done!
Rather enjoy my time with someone that cares and is interested in the USA!They are worthy of earning my $$$.
No, actually my friends, both liberal and conservative are fearful of this Healthcare bill and all see it as a way for the government to have more control over our lives - and NOBODY wants that. So this discussion is actually bringing people together, against, one foe - the Obama Administration!
Keep up the good work, Greta, I pray for Fox News - it is the only place that we get a chance to at least look at the facts and try to come to an informed decision. Thank you all at Fox.
had very heated conversations with BIL/SIL during the election. They were 100% BO. They do not say one word about anything now.. neither do I.
have a sister that pays nooooo attention to news or politics... I keep trying to inform her but she just shrugs and doesn't listen to me. Frustrating as heck .
Most of my family are in agreement about fighting for our freedoms, they know what Obama is brewing, and we have civil discussions. The only one I don't talk politics with is an Uncle who is a died in the wool Democrat. I do talk politics with a few friends, and it doesn't matter that we aren't the same party. Taking party line does not help anyone. This is our country and it is time to take it back. Government wants control of everyone and everything. Obama fit right into the plan that has been in the works for many years. Don't need it, don't want it, can't use it! We must stop being apathetic, or it will be the death of the America we love. I am sick & tired of Obama running America like a third world country. Enough!!
None so far!! we are a large family and can discuss politics and religion without getting into a screaming match.. "no man is wise enough by himself". The majority of us are Republicans, with a few democrats and independents ranging from conservative to moderate... we listen to and respect our differences.
None in my family. We are all of like mind. However, I have co-workers and friends who have opposite political affiliations so there have been discussions, but nothing I would consider "nasty" or "hateful".
There have been alot of Democrats that were betrayed and deceived in the last election, including some of my family members. The fights are starting to diminish since these people are finding out What Obama's Radical agenda is doing to America, and everyone's future!
There are no fights as we both agree that we are in big trouble with this administration. My son didn't pay much attention to politics until I asked him how he'll like working 224 days out of a year just for the govt. He's now paying attention!
Greta: I agree with my husband on everything. Faith, politics-we switch together. Nope, we're one voice!
Oh yes, my twin sister. She is a sweetheart, but very naive. She voted for change, but can't explain what change she expected. She is 49yrs old, no children, has never followed politics, she has rarely voted-but did this time, has always had a good job with union support as a blue collar auto worker- even when laid off has pulled a very good salary. I was shocked the evening of the election to learn that she had actually voted and voted for Obama. I have never been upset with my sister, but election night words flew and I think she was stunned. But, we can agree to disagree. I try not to talk politics around her. Everyone in our family is a conservative, including aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. My parents who are in their 70's have had many disagreements with my sister over politics. Just had one yesterday. They look at how these new issues/policies will effect all their children in the near future. They are not against my sister, they are just looking out for our best interest. Something all parents do.
I keep asking those around me to explain the "CHANGE, they voted for". AND, they can't. AND, most of them are now terrified of the Obama's inability to explain himself on the Health Reform, other to identify that everyone should have health insurance. UGH!!!
No fights in my circle of family and friends. We are all on the same page! And we are going to the Tea Party in Las Vegas tomorrow!
Oh, yes! As recently as April, my sister ruined my daughter's birthday party! She started throwing barbs as soon as we sat down at the table in the restuarant. I ignored while we were there, but when we went back home to serve cake and ice cream, she started up again, so the fur flew! I told her she was full of rage and needed therapy (among other things). I didn't attack her character, but told her some things I felt she needed to hear. Sad to say, I will limit contact with her, she never apologizes for her behavior. I have to wonder if she is still as rabid about Obama as she was then.
All my friends and family all agree with each other about what is happen to the United States which is the only land we know we are Native American Indians. We never believe what Obama was selling we could see through his lies and what he wanted to do to our country that was his change.
My family is very much conservative. Myself? I used to be a Republican...never once considered being a Democrat because I knew Lynodn Johnson personally and didn't have any respect for him...his arrogance and slyness were evident even to a young girl. Then there's Lloyd Doggett, in Texas? Well...that's just about it for me. Anyway, regardless of all of this..I now find myself becoming more and more threatened by this man in the White House. I was so proud at first...I wanted my friends to be right when they told me that he would make things better for all of us. For the first time a black man is president, and that was so nice. Then, immediately, I began to feel strange things were happening. You'd get a glimpse of what was going on. The Repubs were completely shut out and so was the public. When a CEO of a private co. was fired by our government, well, you didn't have to throw ice on me to wake me up. Fingers in our private lives...no. And I'll keep saying NO until it's straightened out.
Nope, we all pretty much don't like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc. ... Democrats, Republicans, Independents across the board.
We don't fight in my family over politics, because we all seem to agree on what is the right thing to do, even far flung relatives in other states whom we hardly ever see. Good sense runs in our genes. Now I'm omitting my elderly mother who has dementia and thinks that all women should stay home, tend house, and should not be taking good jobs from men. Dementia will ruin a good woman, a highly educated woman who worked all her adult life and certainly raised me not to give a fig if a woman worked or not. She would probably be decimated under obamacare. I'm fighting for her, because she is a valuable member of our family, a valuable part of my life, and has much to teach us about life, how the light of intelligence can become hidden under a cobweb of confusion, and what we need to do to take care of her. Aren't these the lessons we are here to learn, not just to judge who is worth enough to society to warrant any medical treatments or medicines?
I avoided arguments with my grown child and spouse when they voted for obama in the primary just to try to defeat hillary. Then they were stuck with voting democrat in the general election, so I didn't ask who they voted for. It was not a vote for obama but a vote against hillary. I think many people did that, as they cannot stand the clintons. I laid down the law and said on their next visit, not to mention the name obama or talk about the election, so as to avoid riling the rest of the family. They were kind enough to oblige, and the visit went great. There was no point in discussing it anyway, as it was already done. I think hillary is the lesser of two evils, but they didn't see it that way, as we both had different accumulated knowledge about the candidates. Now they have to live with this mess, and I would never mention it to them, out of love for them.
Except for insignificant disagreements, our family is united in our ideologies, philosophies and faith in God. We support fiscal conservatism, rule of law, legal immigration, love of country, strong military, homeland security, respect for the opinion of one another, freedom of speech and all values handed down to us by our great pilgrims.
Incidentally, we all voted for Sarah Palin (ha, ha,ha..) and that's how McCain garnered the votes he did which, he would not have garnered had it not been for Sarah Palin. McCain and his supporters should give Sarah Palin the credit she deserves.
Not me personally but my grown kids are constantly at each others throats on facebook. I have a Liberal son, Independent [rt. leaning] daughter and a Conservative son. They had heated arguments during the Bush years but those spats don't come close to the divisive nature of their current communications. As a mother it's extremely upsetting.
There are a few of us that disagree, mainly the younger ones who really just don't understand. We have just decided not to discuss politics. We don't get to see one another that often so I'm not going to waste my time arguing that fact that I'm right.LOL
No arguments here - we are all sane reasonably intelligent REAL AMERICANS who believe in GOD and the Constitution and we all feel obama is out to destroy the GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Found it is better to NOT yell and scream about some things. The average American does not care what Big Government does until they are affected then they cry about it a little. Many are led by the nose and accept whatever the Politicians vote in.
If many had paid attention 12 month ago Obama would not be in the White House and McCain would not have run as the Republican Presidential Candidate. But then again we are where we are.
TEA PARTY; SEPT 12 2009. FIND ONE BE THERE. STOP THE LOSS OF OUR FREEDOMS. STOP THE FAR LEFT IN AMERICA.
Oh Yeah, I have had terrible fights with my sister and a several friends and 2 of them I dont speak to anymore. Its a shame. I have never lost a friend over such things as this. I blame Obama anyway, he has caused more dissension since he has been in office than any President ever has before. He also causes divisions and he is an instigator and incites racism. I have never before seen such evil speaking on racism since the 60s. I thought we were doing much better getting along with others but now an evil has risen and the devil is alive and doing well kicking butt and whispering in the ears of these instigators. Van Jones for instance: Where does he get off saying that "Whitey needs to pay back for slavery". I got news for you Van dumb - u r the s-hole - Hmm let me think back wasnt it a white President that freed the slaves. Should we all be held accountable for this that happened 200 or so yr. ago. I love blacks and attended a predominately black church for 3 yrs. if I didnt love all people I wouldnt have gone to that church. But it is evil people like Barack Marsists HUssein whatever ur name and Van Jones and all ur czars I am so sick of them I have had it. All the name calling of decent people you are a sick sick government that can incite hatred, racism, divide this country and say never waist a good crisis including u MZZZ CLinton u and ur all of your green crowd with oh yea whats his name Al Gorey. What a joke I want to croke..............Oh yes leave my children alone Obama!!!
I have to take TUMS before I call my son to dinner. Both my husband and I can't take it. Strange how a college student who does not work, get's his education paid by us, meals, a roof over his head and all the trappings of a real capitalistist Pig is so ver ubber critical of how good forune and the very people who allow to live in a lifestyle I only wish I could of partaken in when I was young. Our youth and thier misguided views along with all the balcks who blindly followed this guy to the Polls are the ver people who put us in this precarious dangerous situation. The Blind being lead by the blind. We are now suffering because our so called educated children screwed us and themselves but they won't realize it for many years. They will have an Ahha moment when they do realize how actions have repercussions that will follow then and thier wallets thru out thier adult lives. Poor things...
