I am new to posting on the Napa Valley Register website--I just posted my first comment today on the health care supporters rally at Congressman Thompson's office.
People should feel comfortable enough with their posted comment on the NV Register website to identify themselves just like any regular, printed letter to the editor.

I absolutely would not hesitate to use my name when posting comments to the NVR. I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Ross that the number of comments would be greatly reduced if it were a requirement to use your given name and not hide behind a pseudonym. I think this requirement would lead to more well thought-out comments and reduce some of the nastiness and overall rambling that currently pervades a lot of the posts. The valid points that are made sometimes tend to get lost in the "war of words".
