i would just like to add that its 2010 and at the e3 last year it was quite clear that the xbox is the best console .games like the ff13 they down graded the graphics on the ps3 to match the xbox plus dlc for games like mw2 xboxlive gets it first ps3 users have to wait 30 days whats that all about . i would like to add that i have played all the consoles online and i have no problem with the anuall fee for the xboxlive as it awesome you can have a party chat with up to 8 of your mates and you dont have to be playing the same games fun times plus have any of you ps3 users actually used xboxlive if you had you would understand. why does the same issue always come up about the failer rate on the xbox lets face it that was in the past does not happen anymore i have many mates who have both consoles and they always tell me when i ask them about the ps3 is its a good blue ray player and thats it. i also think that hardcore gamers play onlne and most of these folks used to game on pcs so you tell me what console the pc gamers would go. the future is online gameing and the xbox knows the market

PS3 is a superb machine compared with the so called X...(pendible)BOX. Just consider your investment on the PS3 as (Pleasure-Sources x 3). For barely $300 we'll get for $100 the game console(w/free online gaming), a BL/DVD player for another $100 and finally a potencial workstation(w/built-in wifi, bluetooth connectivity, HDMI output, ethernet port, storage expansion option, built-in usb backup tool)for just $100. With $100 now we can get at least 3 of the best games around for PS3: MG4, Ninja Gaiden, Assasin Creed and just wait for the highly expectable one GOD III. PS3, now rules.

Wow. Way to give away your age there with the "birthday card request" there Devon... Anyways, one of the major reasons that the Xbox 360 has sold more units than the PS3 is because of failure rates. Honestly, I know 3 people who have given up on their Repeat broken 360s, and just went and bought a 360 Arcade unit to use during their other systems downtime. If that doesnt skew the true numbers I dont know what does.

In all honesty, the 360 was intended for teenagers. It WAS more affordable, and more than likely the teenager doesnt own his own HDTV, so what is the point of Blu-Ray for them anyway.

    The 360 is garbage.

Fanboys will be Fanboys I guess.

Hah this poll is bullshit. the only reason PS3 is beating Xbox is because noone who owns an xbox is looking at this since they actually own an xbox. why vote that they want an xbox? Wii is for 6 year olds and all their games look like shit save the fist party franchises. PS3 i know gran turismo and that shit are popular i just never liked them. I dont care about bluray since im not willing to pay 1000 to buy a HD tv and my xbox plays just fine on my 12 by 16 TV./ and the power failures? well you shopuldnt leave anything on for 100 hours and XBox pretty much fixed that since ive had mine for 3 years with no problems. and the reason Xbox has 120 gigs is beacuse we DONT need to download games to play them and our videos are streamed with a subscription so we dont need to download them either. and on the first commenter i believe you voided your warranty by installing a fucking OS on your console. theres a reason they use a linux for consoles. and i HAVE played call of duty on PS3 but I dont like the controller it is way too loose and the buttons feel wrong and im sure thats cuz im used to an xbox. i recognize xbox live is expensive at 50 dollars a year but all you have to do is request a card for your birthday. and also Xbox has WAY more users then PS3. or at least more active users since we definitely beat you on battlefield. the Wifi is a ripp off though but i dont care as i have a small house and can just run a 20 foot ehternet cable and get less lag or interference. also xbox is a lace for friends. i mean really does ANYONE on PS3 have a mic? xbox includes them and i trashed mine and got a turtle beach. but i still have a mic so i can still have friends. however PS3 does have little big planet which i would probably trade ever playing.... rainbow six prototype and red faction to play that on my xbox. btw regardless of this poll PS3 has sold next to nothing compared to xbox and absolutely nothong compared to (god help us) Wii

If you look at the chart just above the voting box, it's a wonder why anyone would buy any other than the PS3. It just plain does and has more than any other console. I don't even consider the wii with it's pathetic graphics and horrible controller to really be a gaming console. It's more of a toy really.

I paid $499 for my PS3 just over 1.5 years ago and have loved every second of it. At the time of purchase Blue-ray players were $500. I was buying a 46" LCD also so Blue-ray was a big deal to me. I have a feeling that Xbox owners who say that Blue-ray is not important don't have HDTV's.

Picture slideshows, music, videos, custom wallpapers, downloadable PS1 classics and demos of new games. My PS3 is backwards compatible with most PS2 games and the Slim is not. But really, does this matter? When you got your first Pentium, did you go back and play with your old 386? When you get your Lexus, will you go back and drive your old Malibu?

According to Game Informer mag, failure rate on Xbox 360 54%, on PS3 10%.

PS3 hard drive upgradable to 500 gig.

The icing on the PS3 cake? PS Home. A virtual social networking and game launching application that IS the wave of the future of gaming. If you haven't seen it, look it up on youtube.

There really is nothing in the Xbox's camp to defend other than Halo. What a shame to lose all the better functionality in the PS3 for just one game.

Oh, one more thing. Sony has always made fabulous reliable products, and when you buy one, Bill Gates and his New World Empire called Microsoft gets not one red cent! That's all I need.

Wii's motion control still offers the best gameplay and its value is still above the HD consoles, but it is at a point where a price cut would do good. The autumn lineup of games is stellar, including multiplatform games like The Beatles Rockband, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and a wide variety of exclusive titles like Muramasa, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Turtles Smash Up, Rabbids Go Home, Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Dead Space Extraction, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Drawn to Life. With many games for Xbox 360 and PS3 delayed until winter 2010 or later, Wii has by far the most interesting titles this autumn.

I was 64 when I bought my 80GB PS 3 in Dec. of '07. I bought it for one beautiful game I had seen, UDF. I'm still replaying some of the battles, and waiting for the sequel, Among Thieves. It's a great system, and I've had NO trouble with it. Twice, I thought something was wrong with the video, but both times, my HDTV wasn't seeing it. Happens very seldom, and I know what to do; turn off the tv, and turn it back on.
The new batman looks good, but UDF 2 will keep me occupied when I'm not "having a life".
Sony makes good stuff. I have two of their Hi-Def camcorders, the early tape one, and a new solid-state one.
One last thing. What the PS 3 does with still photos is pretty magical. One option makes them sort of fall out of the air onto a white surface. Real fun to see.
So I love Sony and the PS 3.

I chose the PS3. I am a stickler against hidden fee's and unfortunately the 360 has too many of them.

When you buy a $199 or $299 360, you're really paying $150 or more down the line. One thing that isn't mentioned in this article, is that it's $50 per XBL account. If you don't like sharing game saves, or have your stats ruined by someone else in the household, you have no choice but to get a second account for the other person (Kid brothers usually.) And as you can see, it's already starting to rack up. And for launch 360 owners who has had Live for 4 years, has now paid $200. I know it's spread out in long intervals, but $200 is still $200 no matter how you slice it.

Then there's the issue of Wi-Fi. Reports have shown that internal wi-fi adapters are only $10-$15. Why is it that Microsoft is selling it for $90-$100? I understand they need to make profit. But there's a line between making profit or ripping people off. They chose the latter. Why cant it be something reasonable like $25.

And cant go without mentioning the hard drive issue. Sony allows anybody to swap out their HDD's without voiding the warranty. Not to beat a dead horse over and over again, but it's shocking once you start shopping for 2.5" Sata's and 500gb's today are now only $80-$90. That pretty much can last the life of the system. With the 360, the only options you have is either a 60gb or 120gb. And if you have an elite, you pretty much cant upgrade any more. What if you have so many movies, music, pictures, game installs etc. and you don't want to start deleting stuff? You're pretty much S.O.L.

Now don't get me wrong, there are some things that the 360 brings to the table that cant be denied by any real gamers. The games line up. No longer do we have to invest in a high end PC to enjoy games like Mass Effect, Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, etc. etc.

But at the end of the day, the PS3 is such a better value in many aspects. The word FREE and "included" gets thrown around a lot with it, and that's a damn good thing. Free online gaming, free content like Home, Life w/ Playstation, pulse etc. Blu-Ray included. Wi-fi included. And it has a killer exclusive games line-up. Gran Turismo 5 is just around the corner and God of War III is already two out of many reasons to buy a PS3.

    Thank you for reading.

honestly I don't care if I can't play with people I know.In videogames the most important factor for hardcore videogamers is the single player.Multiplayer is fun but most time I play with people that I don't know. I buy a console for games, exclusivity and superior system.and the best choice is a ps3 for the price, reliability, all the features built in and the on-line free with dedicated servers.

  • PS3 - 15 years ago

MY choice is PS3 and the reason for it is because its way more bang for your buck. I bought a 160GB PS3 when it came out and couldnt be happier with my choice. As already mentiond in the article PS3 has bluray, all ps3 games are made on bluray, bluray discs can hold way more than a dvd which xbox uses. Elite and PS3 cost the same yet Elite does not come with wireless capablities, no you have to spend 100 bucks for that feature.Xbox is not bluetooth compatible, you do not have rechargable batteries built into the xbox controller which means more money. Free internet>50 for internet a year not even a one time fee.I also have installed another os on my PS3 which enables me to have a desktop browse the internet using firefox and I can also install emulators and am currently able to play games like super mario bros or sonic all tha throwback games unlike the xbox where you have to pay for old arcade games you can play for free. I mean to me it was an obvious choice. Although I also want a Xbox 360 I mean it doesnt take a rocket scientist to see which one is the better buy. Not to mention the failure rate of the 360. All in all I say the PS3 is the superior system hands down, but that is just my opinon.

Does anyone know anyone with a PS3? I work in high tech and (anecdotally) I've noticed that people either own both a PS3 and Xbox or just an Xbox. Microsoft really won here by releasing better games earlier and taking a price hit on early 360s: more of my friends own Xboxes, therefore, I will buy an Xbox to play online with them. It's a vicious cycle, since nowadays many of the most anticipated games are cross-platform. I frankly don't care if I play Modern Warfare 2 or Street Fighter 4 on a PS3 or Xbox, but I do care if I can't play with people I know.

It's funny, since the total cost of ownership of a PS3 is technically lower. No subscription, includes BluRay, and lower failure rate. If we were starting from a blank slate today, I'd probably recommend a PS3 since the games I ended up playing the most are cross-platform. But we aren't. Anyone I care to play with has an Xbox with Xbox Live, and I have an Xbox with Xbox Live. If I didn't have a console today, I'd get an Xbox.
