You all are crazy..You think taxing makes things right?
Taxing makes the litlle guy suffer and the fat cats richer.
Try living in CT where gas tax is high.. Ya'll must be from CA or somewhere else where you can bike to work or walk. CT is so behind times..our trains, buses, and other cheap transport is prehistoric..The only good bus lines are in major cities along with all the bad crime and crap that goes along with cities.

While in principle I do agree with higher taxes on gasoline, I don't necessarily feel that it's a solution right now. It's not exactly fair to tax individuals for using their cars when so many of them have little to no access to quality public transportation. If an increase were coupled with investments in public transportation, particularly in under served areas, we're not talking progress. Either way, I strongly advocate implementing more toll roads across the country to reduce congestion and encourage car pooling. Couple that with reinvestment in public transit and and higher gas taxes and you may actually see changes in long-term behavior. A simple gas tax without any long-term plans and goals for getting people to drive less is just not effective.
