I don't mind if they drop another day (or even two) per week for service, but I wouldn't want to see it be two days a row. Not delivering on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays would be just fine with me.

Is there any other federal offices open on saturday? No, there isn't. Why is this one open? If those employees can have saturday off then why not postal employees. Don't they deserve quality time with their families? Who is going to miss this pile of no good advertisements? Keep the junk mail and save a tree, who knows maybe a whole forest. I have looked at your survey and 67% wants it closed on saturday. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING ON?

The Postal Service has had a large decline in mail volume due to the fact that we are living in a different age of comunication. Paying bills on line, bank drafts, text messaging many other technologies that has taken the place of mails. Yes, I think it's time the Postal Service closes its doors on Saturday. Just think of the money that can be saved by turning off the lights and locking the doors just one day a week.

Maybe people could go down to the post office on Saturday if there was something important coming.
If things were phased out slowly, there would not have to be unemployment among postal workers. This might be where we could start having a 32 or 35 hour work week become more common so that people would have time to volunteer more in the community.

It is silly to vote for or against this idea when what we should be voting for is to order a set of services to be kept or eliminated. For example, do I care more that the Post Office provide Saturday delivery or more about package delivery? Or Post Office hours of operation or locations of operation?

It would cause the unemployment of many employees and greatly delay the delivery of Monday's mail due to the added volume. It should also be noted that the Postal Service is not supported by tax dollars but by its revenue from mailers and so is self-supporting.

It wouldn't just save fuel. At a minimum, it would allow an overall cut in payroll and electricity in all (or more likely, some) of the facilities.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday would even work.
