What age were you when you developed your love for walking?

I was first introduced to hillwalking as a boy scout. I enjoyed the adventure of planning a hike, getting my gear organised and then executing the event. As a young boy there was a sense of excitement about the whole thing ... something I still feel today when planning trips. It has never changed, only now I have decent gear ... when I think back, oh the hardship!

I was 40 when I started walking - mainly to lose weight, but then just for the sheer joy of being on the hills and fells. I was even too late to bring the joy of the hills to my kids. I have just acquired a new grandson though and he will be coming with me as soon as he can walk in a straight line :)
