Toony, you're like the tumor that none of us needs here, honestly...week after week you do nothing but complain and say how great your stuff is while doing nothing but bring everyone here down. Either shut the holy hell up or go start your own contest, mister "I've been published in 28 countries"

I'd like to chime in here. I am not a worldly published author of cartoons and their captions, but I know what makes me laugh and none of these did. I do not wish to offend anybody but can we use humor as the criteria for selection? Different strokes for different folks. Next week's results should be interesting.

Cartoon I kind of agree with you too this week. Besides the fact Brian pisses me off, we don't get to see all the "better" captions until it's over. Brian told me to not pollute this constest when I suggested a daily site to others. I would bet I've been here longer than him (I'm not new but I never comment much here). It sounds like he thinks he runs this thing. If he does we should all send him mailing labels and customs forms in the unbelievable case he has to ship anyone else the weekly prize while he's rippin' it up over seas!

Impostal, my stack of winning entries is more than you'll ever get so there I hope I pissed you off more. The fact of the matter is none of you run this thing nor do I, just learn to play the game or get over it :P

And Dale, the low turn out is due to the entries this week, little flare this time in the picks. Just hope for a better cartoon to submit for next week :)

As a frequent commenter here about the stupid selections and the ginned-up winners, it's no surprise to me that people are starting to realize how ghastly this thing is run. I'm certain that even Brian has a better caption than the dogs (pun intended) listed. The obvious lack of quality and time put into this contest by the Trib bespeaks of the low voter and caption turnouts. BTW cartoonguy has never brought me down, nor Impostal. Honest opinion should always be valued.

Gee Steve, thanks for the lackluster comment, however after months of listening to all the whining and bitching and moaning about everyone so peeved about how the caption contest is run I'm not going to let people go unscathed for belittling something as pointless as the tribune caption contest. As I told cartoon guy (aka toony) many times, if he's the great cartoonist he claims to be, quit bitching on here and make your own caption contest site. I have a slow summer going so am more than happy to zing everybody right back for putting the most innate and pointless complaints on here. It's just like people complaining about something on tv or the radio, if you don't like it, change the channel. If you don't like the way this contest is run, get the heck out of here and stop partaking in it, pretty simple. It's their contest, it's their rules, it's their one person who spends 2 minutes picking the finalists and they get to run it how they see fit. Nobody's going to change it so live with it or shut the holy hell up. I have enough free time to be the reality check for the gripers on here. Those who chose to be constructive, I applaud, those who decide to be the fingernails on chalkboard, I'll blast away at :)

Nash, I agree with you. Isn't it odd how the comments seem to ramp down toward the negative as the week goes on. The comment section is becoming more entertaining than the caption contest entries. They're Funnier.

my caption sucked.....but so did the finalists.....look for me to win "The New Yorker' cartoon next week.....the one with the piece of cheese....if i win that one , you all will become my slaves and pay homage to me......

Well as Brian tries to make friends, and continues to sound more and more like a nagging wife, I have to comment. I was almost afraid to because unlike Brian I'm employed or better said (Not having a slow summer)and don't have a lot of time to zing other's comments in here. The purpose of this forum is to leave comments. Can anyone name the 28 countries funnier than us? I'm sure it's an honor but not a paycheck. I suggest instead of telling others to start their own site, we separate for a few weeks. You go back over seas for awhile and we will see if it's better in here with or without you. We will be 100% honest with you when you get back.

This is the Tribune caption contest, so if you are so invested in other contests, drive your stakes in and camp there. As far as homage there will be none. Never will. Lousy attempt at a clean-up...

Impostal, you are my favorite type on here...you have that inflates sense of self worth while having the sense of humor and personality of a shrew....if you even knew what I was talking about with toony you either A) would agree with what I say, or B) still be backing him up because you belong to the same chapter of NAMBLA.....either way it matters little, as I will say go climb into the sleeve of your favorite jacket in your parents basement and justify your existence :) (see? isn't it great to have so much free time? wow if I was your nagging wife I would have Bobbited your meaningless behind years ago. 2) Brian, why are you bashing those of us who would have benefited from Prop 8 passing. It's called hate speech and hello, it's illegal. If you have so much free time, find a different way to make fun of people.

Match...what do you mean those who would have benefitted? nobody benefitted by that garbage passing, just bigotry and hatred, nothing was gained by it, just people were subjugated in a step back to the 60s and the civil rights movement. As to your question to Impostal, don't mind him, he's just a dink that I enjoy having fun with at his expense, and Dale's cool :D As for CJ, who knows, he's up one week and down the next :)

What I find strange is that someone young and full of spirit would waste their time writing captions. I am house bound and find it something to occupy my mind. To each his own, there is room for all of us I think.

Thanks Impostal....hope you did throw your vote my way. I would like a better 'bucket list' but I have serious health problems which only allows me to have a small bucket. You just have to do the best you can do....and enjoy life to its fullest when you can.
