'Mob' Rule or Democracy In Action?

We don’t need to abandon our constitutional republic, we need to restore it. Under the Constitution, for example, no power is granted to Congress over health. Were we to insist that our representatives abide by the oaths they take, there would be no socialized medicine bill of any kind, nor I might add, any Food and Drug Administration.

The truth is that most of the massive governmental power grab we have seen taking place over roughly the past century has been due to the fact that a small but powerful elite has been working assiduously to transform our republic into a democracy.

Lenin advised his revolutionaries to “create the appearance of popular support.” We saw that principle in action during the 1960s when major cities across the United States were burned in order to justify new legislation and incidentally, give more power to the federal government. But of course we’re supposed to believe that those atrocities were the voice of the people – democracy in action, if you will. Such mobocracy is exactly the predictable result of democracies and the reason our founders so greatly feared them.

Our constitutional republic gave us the highest living standard, the least poverty and the greatest degree of freedom of any government in history. It would be shortsighted indeed to scrap it on a whim. A more appropriate course would be to force personnel in all branches of the federal government to abide by the Constitution, as they have sworn to do.

Now it is our moral and ethical obligation to pass health care reform? This from a government who does not even allow us to pray in public--now they are trying to dictate our morals and our ethics????? Give me a break.
The silent majority has now become the vocal majority and we will not go away. It is about so much more than healthcare--it is the lies, lies, lies from both sides for years, years, years. WE HAVE HAD IT!!! WE WILL VOTE YOU OUT. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED ANY LONGER.

The only mob the United States has is the mob in Washington trying to run our country. I guess Obama and the Congress just wants the public to just accept the proposed health care program without reading it like the Congress did the stimulus bill(The Congress probably will not read this document either.) The government is going to have to quit handing out money to everyone. There are some people who you counldn't help if you gave them a million dollars a day. They would be broke the next day. Washington's idea is to let the hard working middleman keep the rest of the country. You cannot take the people out of the slums until you take the slum out of the people. The government needs to get out of the way and let capitalism work. The polticians do not listen to the people. In my state, in both the general and the primary elections, our Senators voted the opposite of the way that the general public voted. I hope the voters of my state will remember this in the next election. This government that is to run the new health care system are the same ones that is bankrupting the Social Security system. That is a good feeling!

I have spoken out in the past by voting for the candidate that best reflects my values yet we have representitives who are ignoring the people they represent ... Are these "Town Hall" meetings really an outlet for the constituents? or a platform for "our" represtentitives to lobby for the President? I do get the feeling I'm being told "I'm not smart enough to decide what I desire as an American."

When, the elections come around for these democratic officials, we will see how fast the verbal abuse heaped on the people in there district will become begging for a vote, and apologizing for there stupidity. Every one in this country has aright to there opinion, alter all this is what milions of americans have died for, for these people to call these american citizens the names they have is incredibly ignorant. Waht our poloticians aspouse is nothing short os communism by not allowing our citizens to speak there peace.

Health Care Reform is a Rubber Duck to Raise Taxes on the Middle Class.
The Federal Government needs more money and they are trying to get that money by making promises they cannot keep. The One World Order guys need the money they secretly get from the U.S. Government to coutinue their conquests of world take over, and with the economy having financial hardships they need to make promises to get more of the public money. In reality the public will get short changed severly on the health care if it passes, because a lot of the money will be moved into other accounts for use by the United Nations and the One World Order guys for there personal use in taking over all and enslaving many. Fight these guys tooth and nail at all cost.

The reps. from AARP obviously should have stayed as the symbolism of their departure was so strong. It's a shame that the AARP reps and many of the attendees lacked civility in carrying out a discussion about an issue in which people need accurate information on in order to make a decision. I would have loved to see many different points of view presented with facts, not just opinions, to support the viewpoints. I don't believe that the health care bill will be 100% evil or 100% good for everybody, I'm sure it would fall somewhere in the middle. The problem I have with people shouting out their opinions is that oftentimes they are basing them on faulty information from faulty sources. Therefore, it doesn't help to educate people but rather only confuses people about what the health care bill is actually proposing.

Go back and take history class again, we revolted because we had no representation in government. Remember the no taxation without representation. Your foolish for attempting to compare healthcare to what happened with the American revolution and the Russian Revolution.

FYI...Stalin wasn't in power during the russian revolution. I believe it was the czar in power, and the communist party removed the czar. And a certain guy by the name of lenin took power...then stalin once lenin died. Learn your history before you start talk about history repeating.

My husband and myself and at present using the Medicare Advantage and it has been good for us, we try to stay healthy by eating right and particpating in the Silver Sneakers Program. I can't understand why they want to rid us of something that is working and must be less expensive because we only go to the Dr's office maybe twice yealy for medicine updates, ets. Another thing that I am tired of is all the bickering going on between both parties. My opnioin is that they should be traded in for newer models because they have all been in D.C. too long and the rare air has done brain damage to them. They need to come home and face the real world like the rest of us do everyday. What a waste of good resources and what a bad example for all of our young people.

History always repeats itself, you can't stop that. even if we learn from history there are always the majority who does not care about learning from history thus it always repeats itself

The history that is now being repeated is The US revolution, as well as The soviet rise to power..... Obama is acting like Stalin and like the king of england

this will end in revolution, and it will devide our nation.... the nation will be split into the USA and the USSA.... Obama will be faced with a revolution.... and we will be faced with more taxes before that revolution begins

Want real Health-care reform...force ALL of Congress back onto Social Security & Medicare, abolish their "special" plans & privileges and their immunity to the legislation they pass - they work for us, we should have the right to determine their benefits and pay...just like the rest of the Corporations in the world - AND set term limits for all of Congress - two terms is enough.

I watched the video, along with many other videos of town hall meetings with protestors shouting out in anger and hate. And I’ve never been this embarrassed to be an American. We don’t allow people under the age of 18 be involved in government because they tend to be immature. What has been happening these last few weeks at the meetings is immature and disappointing. Shouting out in protest during a discussion/ debate is something grade school students do. It is embarrassing to see adults incapable of having meaningful, productive town hall meetings. We haven’t accomplished anything because of this immatureness. I want to remind you, we are all citizens of this great nation and we all want what is best for this nation. Yes, I understand people disagree on which direction the country should head, but yelling in protest and not listening to the other side gets us nowhere. If we continue down this path, Americans will stay divided, destroying the America that I once admired. A nation of people who worked together to form a more perfect union. We are all Americans and United we stand, so let’s stop this madness of rumors and hearsay, and come together and work on a plan that’s best for America.

Also, the Constitution never says we are allowed to yell out in protest, it does say we the people have the right to peaceably assemble.

I totally oppose the health care program that President obama and the congress are trying to impose on the American people. i also opposed the bailouts that have taken place and are yet to come. But the thing that really disturbs me and most of the American people are missing is tne way that this group of people are misrepresenting the Constitution of the United States. I believe that their greatest desire is to change this great document that has assured us the rights and priviledges that we have enjoyed and experienced for the last 200 years. I think that their intention is to call a 2nd Continental congress and change the entire Constitution to their own liking. Impossible some say! Not at all. All that is needed for this to happen is for 32 0r 34 0f the ould be passed on to everyone that loves our country and freedoms, and write to your senators and congressman to let them know. In the mean time we must keep fighting against the health bill and every other front that is being attacked. I find the hate crimes bill very disturbing and very one sided in a lefterly direction, states to call for such a congress and it will happen. They are only 2 states away from this goal. Once a new congress has been called, there is no precedence, because there are know rules for such ameeting. They will be able to completely change the
constitution. Then where is America or the United States that we know going to be and what will our freedoms be founded on! Whatever they want. I believe that this is why they have created the chaos that now exist, to hide their real agenda. This message sh

I bring to light, One “MAJOR” Health Care HR 3200 issue that is NOT being raised in the opposition debates. I strongly suggest FOX voice this issue before the FOX viewing audience. Here it is:

“House Act HR 3200 on Health Care Reform wrongly transfers the People’s power to the Executive Branch of Government. . . This “House Act” is a disguise for Health Care Reform when it really is legislature that transfers the POWER of the PEOPLE to the Executive Branch of Government. It promotes and advances “BIG GOVERNMENT” and transfers (passes the ball) from the Congress to the Administration (White House).

The details within the "Act" are severely lacking in specifics. But, the Act does establish a "Health Choices Commissioner", Committees, Boards, and the like, all of which will be under the Executive Branch. These entities are provided with the responsibility to determine the "lacking details": i.e. policies, rules, option plans, health benefits, medical treatments, budgets and financial matters including doctor’s salaries, medical criteria decisions, enforcement, etc., etc. In short the POWER OF CONTROL in effect will be completely transferred to the leadership of the political party in power within the White House. So, whatever the White House advocates, wants, and chooses to enforce is what the PEOPLE will have to comply with: ALL WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF THE PEOPLE (MEANING THE CONGRESS REPRESENTING THE PEOPLE).”
I find this proposed Congressional legislation appalling and in direct violation of the principles of our CONSTITUTION: -- A BLATANT VIOLATION TRANSFER OF POWER .
Our Congress must restore common sense to itself and properly represent the PEOPLE.
Please debate this issue before the PEOPLE who can act accordingly.

Just some FACTS. Having read some of the previous thread, I just wanted to ask a question regarding this statement by one of the posters -
"See that's where we're heading. That's what's happening to our country. That's why people are leaving. Yep they're going back to Europe and Canada, etc. Me, once I'm sick of all this crap, I'm going to a deserted island and live with the non-human animals."
US Census Bureau numbers for 2006-2008 population goes as follows: 2006 - 299,398,484; 2007 - 301,621,157; 2008 - 304,059,724. This would indicate that people are still coming here.
Perhaps the poster has become "sick of all this crap" and has gone to live with the animals? Hopefully he has the ability to provide for himself on this deserted island without outside help. Maybe a deserted island bail-out will be required.
What sources did you use to get your data on US emigration rates? The Onion?
Statements of "fact" like the one concerning US population growth are laughable. Statements of "fact" coming from elected representatives that are actually falsehoods seem to be the source of much of our current controversy. Knowledge is indeed power. Ignorance and a loud voice still add up to ignorance.

while health care/health insurance seems to be the issue now. it was only the last straw. GM CEO firing, $800 billion stimulus that has yet to be spent....czars to run cars, financial institutions, non listening senators and house members, have finally made the masses revolt.....so it is not just the health issue that has brought the masses to the town hall meetings...it is a series of socialist attemps and in some cases sucess that has angered the people. Lets hope 2 things happen 1. congress will hear the messages and stop the bills or 2. the likes of the leaders of both parties will be voted out....that is called term linits....

  • Jim - 15 years ago

It is quite obvious that if a great number of people were going to these meetings in favor of Obama's plan, that they would be hooting and hollering about how great our democracy works.
The fact that most of these people are against the plan, isn't what the democrats want to hear, or see. Therefore, anyone that is against what they want to do is nothing more than a detriment to democracy.
It's the same with anything the democrats want. As long as you're for it, everything is great and it's bipartisan, but be against it, and you're painted as being against the country, or unpatriotic.
The democrat's definition of bipartisan is: Do what we want, and only what we want. Anything else is unamerican.
I am completely against the government involved in any manner with my health care. I do not have health insurance, and don't want any. I pay as I go, and no, I am in no way wealthy. I get some very nice discounts by paying for my care when I receive it. My doctors and hospital really like me. They don't have to deal with insurance claims, and fight with them over how much they're charging.
By the way, if the government wants to fine me for not buying insurance, they'll have to put me in prison, because I WON'T PAY IT!

  • Colleen Shannon - 15 years ago

Over and Over we are told how to act at the town hall meetings. Don't raise your voice. Don't make a scene. Be respectful to your congressman or congresswoman. I agree that we should be polite. However my question is this..Where is their respect for the people to pay their salaries? It appears that the congress are having the town hall meetings in order to educate us rather than listen to us. Some times shouting is the only way you can get through to a person who is hard of hearing.

  • Hawkman - 15 years ago

As I remember, the first meeting that devolved to yelling was when Carnahan tried to tell the crowd that the CBO report indicated that the plan would generate a 6B dollar surplus in its tenth year. So - if a politician lies to you and you call them on it, you are rabble.
Pelosi denigrates the American public when they protest her parties' policies but applauds protesters that attack the Republican party and is not called to account on this by the mainstream media (Obama's other pet). This smacks of hypocrisy of the highest order. This being said, I would mention that I am an independent who thinks the Bush administration spent money like drunken sailors. The Obama administration however, spends money like sailors on crack.
Obama keeps saying that his administration is cleaning up other people's messes. He seems to be forgetting Rahm Emanuel's involvement with Freddie Mac and his own connection with Freddie (involved in the effort to forestall the reform bill proposed by McCain in 2005, no.2 behind Dodds in receiving money from Freddie that year). Perhaps he should also point that finger at himself.
It is time that the American people take a real close look at Obama and his administration. This administration's ambivalence towards the American people and their opinions should became apparent in the 2010 elections as we "mobsters" get up off of our couches and make our voices heard. We can only hope that the damage they do our republic is not irreparable.
Make your voice be heard in 2010! Pay very close attention to what your elected representatives do after the August recess. Are they reflecting the viewpoints of you the voter, who put them into office? Or are they going to do what's "best for you" in spite of what you really want? If they are scoundrels (and let's be honest - most of them are) vote them out.

My state had career legaslators. After being in the legislature for 30 years they bercame so corrupt it was time to get them out.

It's sad in order to limit the corrupt the state also loses good public servants.

Yes, you're right. People were ignored, denigrated, and not understood. And it was at the peril of that party, the Republican party. That's why they lost the Congress, Senate, and Presidency.

Just because you're loud, calling names as if you were in grade school does not make you the majority. The majority spoke in November.

The same type of protests had taken place when it was time to give women the right to vote. Same type of protests when it was time to give black people the right to go to school with whites. It was the same protests to give black people the right to vote. Those people protesting, just like now, also thought it was destroying our country. It's simply change. I think protesting is our American right. But when you call the president Hitler, a communist, it doesn't serve your cause, on either side, because both President Obama and President Bush have been called such.

I say protest, protest, protest if you disagree, but be respectful and keep an open mind and educate yourself, and I'm not talking about listening to talking heads on tv or radio, they have their own agenda to think about.

  • bro - 15 years ago

Newt, Rush, Glenn, and Ann have become an embarrassment to the Republican Party due to the ulltimate conclusion from extremism of views; based of course, on straw-man arguments. I only recently recalled that these people make money from both controversy and from an impressionable following. Now I worry about the Republician party...and our America.

These reactionaries, to whom I listened, also use the same tactics that the old unionists used – which is rather odd since they detest unions. Glenn quotes the Nazis but employs very similar tactics, as do the rest...spreading fear based on straw-man* arguments. Rush Limbaugh has been using the same sophomoric debate arguments for the 25 years (straw-man*).

I am a conservative and deal with facts. I do not deal with twisted pabulum from fear mongerers; however, I do not accept a government that acts as mom and dad take-care of everybody.&n bsp; Individual responsibility has sufferred from that extreme as well.

    * A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by substituting a superficially similar proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.

The foundation of democrat party support used to be: blacks, latinos, single women, gays, young people, and the elderly. The evil 'other' that they coalesced this group together against, were the corporations, rich people who own these corporations (no matter that no more than 7% of any one stock is owned by any one person) and capitalism by extension, and any white middle class opponent, obviously branded a racist, despite the extremely deferencial tones to the President.

They thought that they could provide a 'truce' to the majority white middle class by announcing no tax increase for anyone making less than 250k.

But does anyone believe that is true? I am middle class, but if I sit idly buy and watch when they go after someone, when will it be time for them to come for me?

What we saw, this august, is the dismantling of this coalition as the elderly defiantly and vocally left it. The executive leadership of ARP, the AMA, and the AAA (who would of guessed, but AAA's largest constiuency is those over 65) are struggling to re align themselves against this bill.

They hoped to appeal to liberal single women if they get the nebulous and unarticulated provisions in the bill on 'women's healthcare' where they can get around the Hyde Amendment that prevents the federal fund ing of abortions. But now that is endangered, after being called out.

For latinos, the unspoken acknowledgement that we have to cover 6.5 million illegals, except the revolting constituency (the elderly) is calling for specific provisions in the health bill, and safeguards, that will prevent illegal aliens from participating. That endangers the latino support.

That leaves a clueless Sheila Jackson led black constituency who's only 'silver bullet' has already been used with the Gates-Crowley affair. They fired that silver bullet prematurely and they missed the target, because the lie was so easily and so quickly discovered.

Now, to shore up gay support in the coalition, suddenly 'Don't ask, don't tell is back in the news, to shore up gay support.'

The white majority, supporting their elderly parents and grandparents, and watching the jobless numbers climb (it was revised to 540,000 this month vice the 250,000 they advertised in their propaganda channels, anyone see it?), forclosure rose a record 35% this month to 320,000 (which will force house prices down further), retail sales, the measure of the 70% of GNP which is consumer spending dropped again 0.1%, and the deficit is projected to be over the 1.8 trillion advertised this year, are clearly in revolt. It might be 2 trillion due to falling tax revenue. Clearly, they better wake up or I fear that we will soon be watering the tree as Jefferson so clearly and courageously predicted.

Their propaganda arms keep announcing polls as leading indicators for their cause. This is incorrect, the poll of likely voters, Rasmussan, paints an extremely dark picture for democrats.

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/

Will Sheila Jackson please turn out the light when she leaves? Everyone else has left the building.

The FAR-LEFT LIBERAL democrats in our legislature are extremely happy when "we the people" whom they should be representing ACCORDING TO THE MANDATES IN THE CONSTITUTION are smiling and nodding in acquiescence to their extremes policies and rhetoric. However, dare we have a different view, suddenly we are maligned and referred to as the mad fringe that doesn't represent AMERICAN values. Pleeeaaase, American citizens do not support, nor will we ever support, government interference in our lives! Our Constitution was established to guarantee our freedoms, and they should NEVER by violated by ANYONE!

Many politicians seem to think they are above the rule of law, and that they can impose their liberal agendas on fair-minded Americans, completely dismissing our values and points of view. Case in point, Nancy Palosi (and all the other left-wing, liberal elitists), who dare with all their arrogance and utter cluelessness, call we the people un-American, nazis, angry mobs, and on and on it goes ...... She (and they), are the un-Americans here!! They need to read the Constitution and get a reality check! The arrogant bubble that they live in needs to be popped!! And I pray, that come mid-term elections in 2010 that is exactly what happens.

  • Carole Louthain - 15 years ago

I read & hear a lot of Dems complain about being shouted down and I am reminded of how many times I have watched a conservative quietly wait their turn in an interview only to be shouted down by the liberal when it was the conservative's turn to talk. They can't handle that, finally, the conservative is willing to shout too.
As far as it not being polite, I have written, emailed, called and personally talked to our so-called representatives many, many times over my adult life and their arrogant, elitist attitude of ignoring, patronizing way of responding(if they even respond) is disgusting. That seems pretty rude of them, don't you think? We need to clean "HOUSE" in the next election on both sides and get some fresh, America loving people into the next congress. I'm fed up with both parties and get term limits too, while we're at it.

  • Melanie S. - 15 years ago

I agree that it's always best when critical issues are rigorously debated in a civil manner. But what do you think happens when one side wants to discuss the merits of an issue and the other side ignores them? You get anger, frustration, and resentment. These people were ignored when they were polite and mannerly, so now they are angry, rude, and loud. Those in power, whether Democrat or Republican, who ignore, denigrate, or fail to understand these feelings do so at their own peril.

Okay angie, you're right. Fox tells the truth. And you're right. The earth is flat. And I guess George W. was a great president too. And I guess Jerry Springer is a show about therapy. I give up. I won't fight you on these. You enjoy your Fox. I'll enjoy my "socialist" services.

I wonder how you and the rest of the dumb-down nation are going to get through life without the use of roads, or public schools, fire departments, and yes health care. 'Cause you see those services are for those who gladly pay into it. They're not for you to use (not anymore). After all, you don't want government in your life.

See that's where we're heading. That's what's happening to our country. That's why people are leaving. Yep they're going back to Europe and Canada, etc. Me, once I'm sick of all this crap, I'm going to a deserted island and live with the non-human animals. Human animals are just too disrespectful to mother nature, to our fellow earthlings, and to each other. I guess we need more evolution.

So go on and continue watching Fox. Let's just hope that you won't need health care. TV in general can turn your mind to mush. Once that happens, there'll be no turning back to a "We" society. You're on your own. Pretty sad...:(

THAT DON'T AGREEE WITH THEM.. WHY IS EVERY THING PRIVATE GOING UNDER ATTACK... OUR EMAILS, HEALTH CARE, TALK RADIO... PEOPLE WE NEED TO STAND UP AND STAND STRONG... NOW

  • Ken - 15 years ago

What is scary is how easily the sheepel of this country are being led into a socialistic state.
If we don't stand up to Obama and his gang of brown shirts we will lose all our freedoms.
Ronald Reagan said in a radio address that socialized medicine is a gateway to a socialistic society.

If you believe abortion is in this bill, please state the page and line it says that. Stop believing what people are telling you and find out for yourself. READ the bill. Stop letting people scare you with lies.

Another bit of fact, people on welfare are already getting their medical paid for, so why do they care if this passes. I don't know, maybe you should think about that. By they way "these people" are still Americans. Right? By "these people" are you referring to black?

Antother fact, telling Grandmaw and Grandfather to take a pick and bury them where they want, it's what we have now, it's called a living will and DNR orders. Do any of you people know anything about the health care system we have now

  • Jo Hearrell - 15 years ago

Why should we, as Americans, help pay for abortions, I don't agree with it. Why should we, as Americans, pay for illigals to get free medical care, what right does anyone of us have to tell grandma - "you're to sick, so take this pill and we will bury you in your favorite spot."
If this bill passes than the Kennedy's, Obama's, Clinton's and the rest of DC should be the first one's to use this health plan the same as the rest of the Americans are being told to.
Also why don't lawmakers put a limit on how many illegitamite babies they will pay for. I have had people tell me that they make more money being on welfare than having a job and their medical is paid for. So of course these people want the health bill passed.
The meeting may get a little out of control, but people are pissed.

  • KIM - 15 years ago

I'd rather pay a 500 or a 1,000 year tax to the feds than pay 1,200 a month to the medical insurance companies. no brainer

IF ALL OF YOU WRITING THIS CRAP TRUELY FEEL GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE IS THE TOTAL DISTRUCTION OF THIS COUNTRY, SOMETHING SO EVIL AND SOMETHING TO BE SCARED OF, THEN WHEN YOU GET SICK AND CAN LONGER WORK, OR YOU REACH THE AGE OF RETIREMENT, THEN STAND BY YOUR WORDS, DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICARE. STAND ASIDE AND LET ME HAVE IT. IF YOU DO EVER ACCEPT MEDICARE OR MEDICADE, THEY YOU MY FRIEND ARE A HYPOCRITE GOVERNEMENT RUNS THOSE PROGRAMS. MY GRANDMOTHER AND FATHER GET BETTER CARE AND TREATMENT THAN I DO PAYING OUT THE A** FOR INSURANCE, AND NO THE GOVERNMENT HAS N-E-V-E-R INTERFERRED IN THEIR MEDICAL DECISIONS OR CONTROLED THEM IN ANYWAY

  • Todd - 15 years ago

I think the absolute arrogance of the senators hosting the town hall meetings is disgusting. The only reason the haste in getting health care is so that it can be implemented before re-elections. Seeing as the majority of the democratic representative in favor of this health reform will be ousted from congress. I'm so glad to see the uprising of citizens in our nation at this time. We must all pray and put our faith in God as our fore fathers did when we took on the most powerful army in the world (Great Britain) and rose victorious. We can do the same with the monsters in charge now.

  • JANE - 15 years ago

Too bad we didn't have these "mobs" when insurance companies started dropping people because they had the nerve to get sick. Too bad we didn't have these "mobs" when the insurance companines started doubling their rates year after year after year and giving you less and less coverage. Too bad we didn't have these "mobs" when insurance compainies started to pick and choose which mediciation is covered, not which one the doctor wants to prescribe. Too bad we didn't have these "mobs" when millions and millions of Americans became uninsured. Tell me again how this "mob" mentality NOW is really about our health and not about pure, undeniable hatered for Obama. If you are truley "scared" for this country, you should have marched and shouted and been vocal a lot sooner, oh, but your "team" was in, then I guess everything in your world was perfect. sad sad sad

  • Liz - 15 years ago

The "counseling" in the bill is no different than what we have now. It's called a living will and DNR. Everyone needs to stop freaking out and think of what we have now. You guys keep saying government wants to control our health care. Well, what do you all think you have now? You all have your insurance company 100 percent controling you now so they can make their millions. Believe it or not, the sad truth is, which you may not know, doctors absolutely make decisions based on what the insurance companies will pay for or not pay. Treatment is absolutely denied to many Americans because the insurance company will not pay for it. If you don't believe me, I pray you never find out because to find out means you have a serious illness. If you like the way health insurance companies CONTROL your health care, then I bet you never had cancer, diabeties, a heart condition, or any other serious illness. I'll quote a Republican senator from Mississippi, there's a special place in hell for the insurance industry. The enemy isn't Obama, it's the insurance companies. WAKE UP AND THINK

Just listening to Geraldo on Fox. He's so "liberal" he makes me sick to watch him. He's after the "mob" too. He said he's wondering where all this is anger coming from. Then took a swipe at Sarah Palin. He told of his father-in-law who died in his early 60's of prostrate cancer. He elected to forgo the extra mile to save his life. He was as much as saying he did the right thing, anyone who elects to do anything to save his life is an idiot. I'd like to see what he, Geraldo, would do if he was told, today, that he had a life threatening disease. They tell us to stay healthy, yadda yadda yadda, and now their telling us to roll over and die and let the government tell us if we can have those extra steps, not your Doctor. I'm one of those MOBSTERS and proud of it. I'm voicing my right and I'll not roll over and play dead like they want us to. Geraldo also said it was wonderful that the "counceling" was in the bill. They can keep their "so called" counceling, give me my family, my Pastor, and give me GOD, I don't need a liberal councelor. Thank you

I am one of the 1% of 199 voters that choose “I’m not sure!” It was a difficult decision to reach. There has not been a town meeting held in my area of yet. There is going to be one held on August 28th by a Democratic Congressman in my city. I live in a state that is predominately Republican and the Republican Senators are against the Obama health plan. I’m not planning on going to the Town Meeting on the 28th because I don’t like the Democratic Congressman and I just couldn’t believe anything he was going to say anyhow. How do you know if a Democrat is lying? If his lips are moving! I have watched some Town Meetings on Fox news that ran rather smoothly, and I have watched some town meetings where the speaker spoke down to all the all constituents. It reminds me of being a Mother and being upset with my children; it is just natural that they start yelling back at me, since I was the first one showing my anger! Oh believe me, I believe the Obama Administrative wants big government to be in control of things. He has already thrown away the United States Constitution and is running things his way! We are not a mob, we are very seriously concerned citizens about one of our most important things in life—our health! The speaker should have shown more compassion to the citizens’ concerns without standing up front demanding their view was the only correct plan. I’m on the young side of becoming a senior citizen so health issues certainly do concern me. I just believe the town meetings did not accomplish anything. I believe the town meetings could have been setup more on a debate basis, giving equal time for both sides to express their concerns and feelings. Instead a lot of the town meetings turned into a free-for-all. I’m not sure either side walked away from the town meetings without additional hostile feelings. Our representatives and Commander-in-Chief have forgotten they work for the people. The supreme power of our Government is owned by the people in which is vested in the people and exercised by them directly through a system of representation involving periodically held free elections. If our representations fail to honor the people’s choices it is time to reelect new representations who will honor the peoples’ choices.

Sadly we currently rank 37th in healthcare by the World Health Organization right behind Costa Rica. France, the UK, Canada, all have healthcare that is rated better. Anyone who thinks that healthcare in the U.S. is not currently rationed by insurance companies is probably in good health. Costs go up by a staggering 8 to 10 percent per year, this is unsustainable.

Health Care Reform is necessary, it would be better if the lies were stopped (e.g., Death Boards, abortion will be funded, and lies about rationing) and for people to offer constructive criticisms, and for the Dems to compromise to get to a bipartisan solution.

  • IHL - 15 years ago

I agree that this is a form of soft tyranny. Government officials imposing their will over the will of the people. That devil named Nancy Pelosi using smear tactics not only with her political opponents but also against the people themselves who don't agree with her views. She is the one who is non-American.

THAT'S RIGHT SARA, WE THE PEOPLE PAY THE TAXES. THAT'S WHAT MAKES A WE SOCIETY WORK. BUT YOU'D RATHER KEEP IT ALL FOR YOURSELF AND LET THE LITTLE GUY GO WITHOUT ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY IF HE'S NOT WHITE. And you wouldn't know the facts if it presented itself in the cigarettes you smoke or the beer you drink. That's because you and the others listen to the morons who'd rather see this country fail then be apart of the solution. PRETTY SAD!!! We share the world with different species and different people. Everything we do effects the other. A little good goes a long way. A little bad goes even further. It's your choice what kind of a world you want to live in. So stop complaining and be apart of the solution rather than the problem. And the best advice I can give is STOP LISTENING TO THE SPINHEADS (O'Really, Limpbaugh, Preck, etc.). They are only after power and NOT peace. That's IT! Good luck!

You do nothing but put people down, call people names, disrespect people and think everyone is uneducated for thinking differently than yourself. Typical, typical, typical. Just think what our country would be like if everyone thought the same.....I THINK THAT IS COMMUNISIM. We need to go back to what my grandmother used to always say, agree to disagree but be respectful, that's how adults should act, and things get done when we have an intelligent discussion on differences

  • Clariece Brundy - 15 years ago

    Hannity,
I am wondering why no one in congress hasn't read this entire health care plan isn't this why the business world is in such a mess. The SEC was not doing their job they weren't looking or reading the documents that matter closely and low and behold Bernie Madoff took millions from people.

Isn't one of the first requirements our children learn in school is reading and spelling. If it's so important to learn to read and spell why doesn't congress do what the learned in school.

The banking industry should look up the word GREED in our Webster dictionary. The fair trade act should be what it say's it FAIR TRADE, not leaving the American auto industry behind our neighbor's across the world.

If Obama claims to be very open as a leader then why his birth certificate is such a big question to some American's I have my birth certificate can get a new one if I lost my original. So why doesn't he answerer this question once and for ALL American's, proof is part of the process ask Bernie Madoff.

It's not about more Government what good is that if no one is going to READ what the rules and regulations are. We are governing by them, who's going to know what to do if they haven't read what was written.

I can't believe Obama pushing the health care plan unread by Congress when He wants the credit card companies to make sure their are no hidden cost in (little print)so we as customers can READ the fine lines. Well I think he should preach to the congress the same message READ what they have written, NO what they have written, UNDERSTAND what they have written. What is so hard to READ a thousand or more page health care plan when Congress or regular people like me read books with over 500 pages and enjoy it? Don't they ENJOY there Job’s because the rest of us are looking for one maybe we could go to Congress and help them with their reading and get paid for it.

  • James Simmons - 15 years ago

I have a bad feeling that our representatives have lost all touch with the American people. The Founding Father's form of government and what we have now are two totally different things. Their are too many politicians looking for ways to put money in their own pockets as oppose to doing what is right for America in general. I think the only reason there is a big push for nationalized health care is because the fleecing of Medicare and Social security has run out of easy money for politicians. Just think how much money will be fleeced off of a couple trillion dollar government health care system. We need to go back to term limits, hold politicians to the same rules and systems the middle class are subjected to, and prosecute these crimes the politicians are getting away with. The reason Social Security is going broke is because politicians have been dipping into it for years and not paying one cent in. They also have voted them a nice little plan to not only recieve benefits without paying but it is a far better plan for them than we get. Their death does not discontinue benefits like ours, it rolls over to spouse and children. Career politicians must go. They have lost all touch with reality. If this socialist agenda continues, Im afraid of what the silent majority will do. They havent seen protest like what will occur in this country. Im convinced that the whole lot of these politicians need to be thrown out of office and replaced with our Founding Father's version of politicians. Im not preaching revolution but the reinstalling of our American Government that was held accountable and worked on the people's behalf.

The health care bill is all about money and power, it's not about health. We have a very unhealthy country. The opposite of unhealthy is healthy. We need to concentrate on making people healthy and you don't do that by giving them drugs. The medical profession is treating the symptoms and not the cause. During the Bush administration the drug companies got their huge bailout and now under the Obama administration it's happening for other companies. The FDA has collaborated with corporations for years to see that unhealthy products and foods are approved. Evidence has been ignored and is available if people want to know the truth. Wake up America and ask questions.

No, get YOUR facts right. I did not pull these FACTS from the mouth of Obama. I didn't even vote for him. I'm not a talking head for him. I got my FACTS from the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION!!!!!! Not Obama!!!!!! It's not IF we're 37th, we are 37th. Go to the WHO's web site and educate yourself!!! Last I checked, if you come in 37th in any competition, you ARE NOT the best. I just think this country can do better than Luxembourg, (if you even know where that is)

I'm saying, 37th is not the best. We can be the best. This country is great, health insurance is not. You are correct that no one is turned away in our emergency rooms, but some have died just waiting for treatment. FACT, it has been caught on security cameras time and time again. My father had a heart attact in the waiting room waiting to see a doctor, after five hours telling everyone he was having chest pains. Is that the best we can do? I think not.

I wasn't speaking of illegals, but yes it is an extreamly serious problem for this country. I'm sorry, I thought the topic was our ranking in the world and health insurance companies, my bad

And maybe you can show a little compassion for your fellow americans who have no insurance, or who work 2 jobs, and pays into the insurance where I work, but cannot afford to pay the 20 percent of each test and visit. Do you care if I forego my yearly mammogram next month because I owe 750 dollars and they are threatening to take it all out of my paycheck? Do you care that my son has an illness which once again, I am having trouble paying for, I tried to apply for Medicaid but got shot down, at this time he has no care, I am waiting to see if truly caring people can take him as a charity case DO YOU EVEN CARE

I'm curious what they are doing behind our backs while argue this ugly health care reform bill. Could it be true that the "Hate" bill will really take away our freedom of speech?? So long any chance for a town hall meeting if that's true. I think we need a whole new washington unless they get their act together and listen to what we are telling them.

  • scribe - 15 years ago

Seth, Get your facts straight. You are using the administration's talking points, Obama's talking points. This is what they have you believe, what they want you to believe. If we are 37th, what exactly does this mean? We have the best health care system in the world. And if you really believe we are so-called "37th", where do you think we're going to fall in the scheme of things once Obama gives complete amnesty to millions and millions of illegals, who by the are already draining our health care system. Do you not realize that because of the illegal alien situation in this country, hospitals have had to close their doors. How much further along do you think we're going to be on this destructive path once illegals are given a free pass to the American Health Care system? Don't you realize that this is a huge part of the problem already; that illegals are being given Social Security payments and health care that they are not entitled to? Now don't go haywire on me, no one needing medical attention is turned away from hospitals in this country. Other than emergency situations, our health care system is already being drained by illegals thanks to our government.

But thank you for passing judgment on me without even knowing me and insulting me just because I stated FACTS about your God, Bush. I never threw insults, only FACTS. Which one of those facts are not true? Please, inform me since you are so much more intelligent than myself.

My friend lives in the Caribbean. She had breast cancer. All her treatment was taken care of. The government didn't control her treatment in any way, shape, or form. She decided what treatment she wanted to undergo. She is now totally cancer free today. How many Americans die because they can't get treatment now? I suggest you educate yourself.

How sad that you think that the response to Katrina was the best that could be done. Like you said, everyone knew it was heading to NOLA then why didn't Bush leave his vacation and return to Washington and start planning immediately? Like Kenny said, as long as it's your "team."

Wow, it's almost like you feel these Americans deserved what they got because they didn't leave. Real compassion. Very Christian-like mentality. I'm sure Christ would have a different reaction to his children than you. Yes, the residence should have left. But when you're poor, don't have a vehicle, no money for a hotel, no means whatsoever, how are they suppose to leave? But I'm sure that's something you cannot understand. These people are still God's children and should have been helped. Any large city has it's poverty stricked people. Would you feel differently if it were your child begging you for water that you don't have or food that you don't have? Whatever you do to your fellow man you do to me. Wonder who said that!!!!

A few months after Katrina, Pakistan has a horrible disaster. It's funny that around the other side of the world we were dropping food and water to the people within 24 hours. Now tell me again that the response was the best we could do!!!! You really don't know what you're talking about. FEMA was turning everyone away who was coming to help. Did you know that. Story after story of companies and people with boats told their story how FEMA wouldn't allow them to help. Did you know that? That's why you shouldn't pass judgement on somehing until you've lived it yourself. By the way, what does the "F" in FEMA stand for, FEDERAL. Who was in conotrol of the federal government, Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In only 7 months Obama has turned this nation on its head with the help of course of his communist advisers and czars. Obama has seen to it that the so-called stimulus has gone to the special interest groups who got him elected, and there are plenty of them. These groups have been well paid off at American taxpayer expense, and they will be loyal to him. Obama and his entourage, including his wife, are wild spenders at taxpayer expense. They are greedy, usurping mongers. Money is power. Why else would a CEO making a "bazillion" dollars leave a high paying position in favor of a government job which, to them, would be the equivalent of their earlier tax bill. Obama and his clan have made a deadly mistake. Average Americans have much more than average intelligence. We are savvy and strong, and relentless and unforgiving when our food is taken from us, and our food is our freedom. Freedom to us is our fiber and blood, our sustenance. We are known far and wide for our ability to exercise freedom of speech, sometimes to the consternation of people in foreign lands, but exercise it we do and we always will. We are known for straight talk and no crap. To be American is to be free, that is why people flock to our shores. Now we have a daily and moment by moment situation where the President of the U.S. and his ilk constantly and smugly lie to us and try to take our "food" away from us. Hear this. We have the power, not them. We do not play "small" no matter how many negative comments are hurled at us from the administration. We are big at most everything we do, and we do not shrink so self-indulgent people can feel their power. Americans ARE shining beacons on a hill, and as we shine we give others permission to do the same. Obama's deeds and those of his advisers have not gone unnoticed. Their day of apologizing for Americans is over! Their deeds will come full circle to be their demise. For IV League grads, they aren't very smart, are they?

No,we are not a mob. We are everyday hard working Americans voicing our opposition to Nationalized health care. Talking to a politician is like talking to someone that doesn't speak English. You talk louder and think it will make them understand you.
The only way to make our voices heard is by our vote. And those that are not voting as we their boss wants them to will not be going back to their old job.

This is so ugly, and anti American. This is how the terrorists infiltrate our country, by knowing there are wackos like some of you who would actually work against their own country to prove a point. I woulD really like to see the provosion in the bill which calls for death panels for our elderly, or Sarah Palins kid. FOX NOISE IS BAD FOR AMERICA................HAHAHAHAHA

  • Brian - 15 years ago

Hey Justin... At least the pro-lifers are all for giving those who have committed a capital crime the benefit of due process under the law. What due process does an unborn get? Besides, those who have committed a capital crime and are ultimately found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and receive the death penalty have already made their choice.

Thank you SARA, now I know who I'm dealing with. Do you still wear your sheets outside or are you wearing a swastika around your arm? Wow the righties are really the fascists--More than I thought. Look if you people don't want to live in a "We" society, move to the moon. There are no brown people there or any other living beings for that matter. You can be all by yourself where you can live your narcissistic lives. Leave the country to those who care about things other than themselves. Thanks!

  • Justin - 15 years ago

Hey Brian...where are the pro-lifers when it comes to the death penalty? lol

  • Brian - 15 years ago

Where are the pro-choice people on this issue? Shouldn't each person have a choice concerning their own health care? - or is individual choice only acceptable when chosing to killing your baby?

I believe that people are raising their voices and becoming angry because they have been driven to this by the media and politicians who are ignoring their quiet responses. They now feel the need to be HEARD and are being forced to RAISE THEIR VOICES AND RAISE THEIR AWARENESS. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL BALLGAME THAT IS BEING PLAYED WITH NOW....THIS IS PEOPLES LIVES AND LIVELIHOODS!!!! I don't think that Americans will lie down and let the government take over like Europeans and Canadians have. I hope that Americans will make their forefathers proud and stand up for their rights even if that means more than speaking loudly.

ease: When all else fails make it racial, you're an IDIOT.
terri (honey): Bush acted as a President, not a Rockstar. Katrina was a horribel disaster, that everyone knew was heading to New Orleans. They warned everyone to evacuate, residents should have known to do that on their own. It is horrible that people died, but with the devastation, they did the best they could to get in there quickly as possible to help. They also learned from it for future disasters. I live in a hurricane prone state, and I know the risk and the importance to prepare for myself. In a natural disaster bad shit happens, that can't always be dealt with immediately. I also remember what those who were sheltered in the stadium did to it.
kenny: WOW there's a comparision, do you really want me to give the cons of the current administration, or don't radical extremist acquaintances matter to you. (obviously not) The Czar's - - - do your research on them. We're a Democracy we have a Constitution to live by, why don't you read it and educate yourself
This Healthcare plan is a small part of gov. controlling us, obviously you're people who need to be controlled and can't think for yourselves.

  • Justin - 15 years ago

I am sure a lot of people in these healthcare "militias" (but not just in these militias) are much like Trish a few comments above this one: Middle-aged, just now getting into "policies, bills, and laws", yet speak as though they are constitutional experts. Our constitution has been slipping away from decades now, where have you been?

So the real question is, since politicians are just being the same old politicians they have always been, what factor(s) is different that is causing people to come out of the wood work and start acting as though they are political experts?

One might make a decent case for the notion that race has to do with it. It is interesting, has all off the sudden, words such as "lynching" have come into the political foray, at the same time that we have our first mixed president. Play it off as much as you would like, but it seems too convenient for it to be a coincidence

Personally, I think people are becoming politically charged due to words...yes words. Who composes a majority of these townhallers? Baby boomers. The generation that was practically spoon-fed anti-Communist propaghanda throughout their formative years due to the Cold War. Nobody can den this fact. Now, since words like "socialism" are entering these debates...it is no wonder that the word would switch on some latent memories of being told how bad the Soviet Union is.....and thus would equate anything called "socialist" (no matter how true or false) to the former USSR.

Truly misled and uninformed people using very strong buzzwords such as "socialist" "communist"...or even the other end of the spectrum, "fascist"...is akin to giving a chimp a handgun. The chimp can easily find out the effect of the weapon, and realize its power. Just like a fool can pepper the word "socialist" into a discussion and realize its effect. But just like the chimp with the gun, they truly do not understand how it all works...and what these words mean.

To all those people who are soooo scared of President Obama: You weren't scared of a man who was an ex-drug head, an ex-alcoholic, a C student at best, a Vietnam dodger, butchered the English language, drove a baseball team into bankrupcy, has a brother who almost destroyed the savings and loan industry in which daddy had to bail out with taxpayers' money, has a niece who's a crack head, has a brother who has prostitues visit him at his hotel room, on and on and on? This would be the funniest thing to me if it weren't so sad that people will accept anything and make excuses for anything as long as they're on their "team."

  • terri - 15 years ago

    SARA

Honey, I strongly disagree when you say President Bush's first concern was the American people. I'm from New Orleans and I'm here to tell you for two weeks we didn't have a president. He left us feeling like we never had a country much less a government. Until you have to stay on your roof for two weeks in 100 degree temperatures with barely no food, no water to drink, and your president is ordering Wal-Mart and others who are bringing you help within hours to turn around, I doubt that you'll feel that his first concern is you. Yes there was failure enough to pass around to a lot of people, but as one president has said "The buck stops here"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elderly people died waiting for help. Children died waiting for help. Diabetics died waiting for help. President Bush absolutely has blood on his hands, American blood.
