I wouldn't mind phone calls and radio traffic being recorded. Keeps everyone on a professional level and the recording leaves no doubt what is said on either side of the conversation.

What more can I say that Steve Martin didn't... as for Terence's comment - can you give an example?

I agree, telephone calls and radio traffic shoudl be recorded. I can not re-count the times a department Manager or Director has said that their personnel told them they notified Surveillance. Having the recorded telephone call or radio traffic could settle disputes as well as serve as evidence in a range of issues.

I'm on the "Yes" bandwagon. Too many times I too deal with the "We called Surveillance" statement. Having the phone calls recorded and the radio traffic recorded would be a good tool to add to the list.
I think Terence may be talking about those "personal" calls that come into the room...we had an agent telling their spouse they were "working" when they were really off with their other relationship.

You got it, Dan - evidence to support compliance with a regulation - A+!

John Bright, if all of us are professionals, then its alright but if anyone who may wants to take a cheap shot at you just cause you cannot get along with him/her then thats just one of the ways to get you back.
Its just so simple, whatever you say on the phone can come back and horn you just cause the person next to you or your superior dislike you. It may sound kind a negative but believe me it happens.
You may just be having a very innocent conversation on the line but people turn the story the other way around and put you in shit.

If the phones being recorded are used just to protect Surveillance employees it would be great.
Unfortunetly especially in Tribal Gaming there are too many underlying things that influence the Surveillance Department. It would be nice if Surveillance could do their just without internal or external influence. It's gotten to be a joke, how procedures are changed just so people aren't held accountable. Surveillance can't even do the job they should be allowed to.

Unfortunetly I agree with No Name Tribal Gaming Commissions who take control of Surveillance rooms have too many underlying influence (Politics)and change policys to suit thier own agenda's, and build a case against those who they do not like personnely. Tribal Gaming Commissions gives the Surveillance industry a bad reputation.
