What is the music of science fiction?

Prog Rock! Just take a listen to Rush and King Crimson if you don't believe me.

Heavy Metal - Hello, there is an entire scifi movie called "heavy metal." Plus have you ever listened to Meshuggah or Judas Priest?

Folk - There's a reason why every SF con has a filk track.

Electronica - It's the music of cyberpunk. Any music made by computers has to be scifi.

Funk - If Prince isn't science fiction, I don't know what is. Plus, Parliament!

Goth/Industrial - If Neil Gaiman likes it, it must be the music of fandom.

Hip Hop - Kanye, anybody? Plus hip hop has its roots in outcast culture (hello, SF geeks) and is made by machines.

Country - Cowboys are the original astronauts.

Indie Rock - The Decemberists had a light saber fight on stage, and Arcade Fire is doing the soundtrack to "Where The Wild Things Are"

Jazz - Ella Fitzgerald did sing about flying saucers once.

Classical - 2001 had the best soundtrack ever.
