For me it totally depends on the handset I am using. Now I am using a 3GS more and more it is widescreen alll] the way, previously to that I used to film in a tall screen format.

Of course for Silver Screen & Blu-Ray, Widescreen is the way to go,
but for Mobile Video & Web Surfing, Tallscreen is a much better format.
I love the HP w2408h (Widescreen / Tallscreen ) swivel monitor;
it virtually eliminates the need for scrolling; and Tallscreen looks wicked cool ::)
My HTC Touch Diamond feels less clumsy recording & viewing in Tallscreen;
and Tallscreen allows you to get more of the "actor" onto a small screen device, as portrait suits people & landscape suits landscapes ;)
