Just another Elitist "black" liberal who thinks his "higher" education means he is better than the police who responded to the burglary report. His snob attitude demands that he be reprimanded by the University for his obvious "racial" victim attitude, sinse it is the police officer who is the victim. I look forward to the Officer getting an apology, and Gates getting locked up... after he is fired from his University job!!!

I agree with Joseph Lozano completely. This Afro should be kissing Sgt. Crowley's hand for responding to a breakin call and protecting his home, instead like 92% +/- of all Afros, he pulled the race card when he became out of control and beligerent and subsequently arrested for being uncooperative and disturing the pease. Our president showed his true colors by defending this guy without knowing the facts - a true rooked mistake.

I was very disappointed in Mr. Gates reaction as he is an educated and respected man. The police were called and they were doing their job to insure Mr. Gates's home had not been unlawfully intruded on. Why was Mr. Gates not thankful for their action and protection for him. Our policemen lay their lives on the line every day for our safety and protection. I for one am very grateful and when our alarm went off late one night and the police came, we had not problem identifiying ourselves and, and though it was a fals alarm, we were thankful they came and came prompltly. The main surprise is the reaction of our President. And thanks to Sgt. Crowley for doing his job.

NO, NO, Gates was not a victim of racial profiling.... Just because Gates is a important black person does not prevent him from being arrested. Just as well as, it's night time, the police respond to a call of a possible break in, they have no clue what they will arrive upon. Gates was apparently attempting to break into the house, so SGT.Crowley was following proceedures when he asked for Gates I.D., Gates in turn has absolutely no RIGHT to react the way he did to the police officer, even if it was or was not his residence. All Gates had to do was provide appropriate I.D. and react reasonably. And for the President to call the police actions "STUPID", is absolutely outraqeous!!! Totally uncalled for, he is just supported his friend's "Gates" side of the story. This rediculous, and should not even made it to the media's attention, it only did because Gates was a friend of the President.
