i love you guys. i cried when i read the blog about the hiatus.. all good things must come to an end. but just because the matches stop making music doesn't, by any means, mean that the impact you made on all of us will ever, EVER fade. i feel so privileged to be a part of this.. all of this. the music, the fans, the band, the energy, the inspiration. i've never felt more that i really belong to something than to this. "when you belong to a song..."

I saw you guys for the first time when you opened for Yellowcard at the Warfield. I was hooked. You guys had a plastic blue guitar that you had gotten from a second hand store and you shattered it. It is now in my possession and signed by all the guys. You guys rocked the shit out of every where I saw you from the West Coast to the East Coast.....I cannot wait for both shows and I'll be flying in from Maine just for this.....I cannot wait
I CAN'T CHOSE! All the songs rule! I'm gonna miss you guys so much. Thanks for showing me what punk TRULY is--this little girl is never listening to My Chem again. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the awesome music, the crazy interviews, and all your words of wisdom. The Matches may not be making music anymore, but you guys are going to live on in our hearts beyond eternities... PLEASE make a DVD for the show, for those of us that can't spring the money to make it there. I wish I would've been able to see a show, but whatever; I'll survive. Hopefully it's in the cards for you boys to get back together in the future.

Coming from SLC! Only got to see them once at the warped tour a while back and have been my favorite band for many years, i'm way excited, and voted for all the first CD.. love it.
I wish I wasn't going to be overseas that weekend. Damn it all. Been a long, long ride and a long, long time since the days of iCast, that joint down in Los Gatos (where Jon slipped in the bathroom), hell, that night (as the Locals) at B St. Music in San Mateo back in '02. So long as Gabe's there, that's all that matters.

it's way cool that your letting us (your fans) choose the set list for your final show. i've seen you guys play in michigan countless times, and it's crazy/lucky/coincidence that i'll be out in california (visiting family) when your playing in LA, and of course i wouldn't miss it for the world. the news of your break up brought me to tears, embarrassing as that is to admit, but your music is really the only music that could trigger such an emotion in me, and I thank you for that.

I, like many fans, am sad to see you guys part ways since The Matches has been my favorite band for years now. At the same time though, I'm very excited to see what all you guys have in store for us in the future. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have at least seen you guys play a few live shows and I wish all of you the best. I only wish that I was in California to see your last two shows.

You guys were the first "real" band that I ever saw live back in 2004, and I was hooked from the very first song! I bought the album from you after the show and Shawn ripped the plastic off of it with his teeth so he could sign it for me. You're an awesome band and I'm so bummed to hear you're splitting- but I'm sure you'll be great wherever you end up- good luck :)

How come 'people on the block' isn't on the list? Because it was a locals song? It would probably make every local fans life if you played that song! It was the very first song I heard you guys play when you opened at blink 182 back in 2001. So sad this its over.

I will -never- forget the first time I experienced the Matches. Newport Music Hall, Audio Blood, red lighting, the crowd throbbing like an entity... It was amazing. Thank you thank you thank you chaps for getting me through high school. =) You will be greatly missed.
That was actually really hard, so many great song to try and fit into a small 15 set list. Either way, it will be beyond amazing.

Literally almost cried when I read that you guys were separating. I've been so excited for a new album and to see you guys perform. I had to work when the rest of my friends went to see you in NJ, and figured I could see ya guys some other time. Hopefully I get another chance, sometime.
