Everyone should be concerned, no one wants to go to a school meeting or function and mistake the teacher for a student. Teachers is supposed to be a role models and not the students friends. Society today is so messed up due to the lack of morals and values, give me the old school ways any day. One of the problem in todays world is that so many adults are corrupted, living in the flesh and not the spirit. People need to realize that we were created for GOD and our journey down here is not a dress rehearsal, this is our final walk. And whether they realize it or not we are responsible for these children and their school. Mainly the fatherless children and if we as adults don't get it together.
GUESS WHAT? You're looking at a lost GENERATION and yes it's our fault. WHY? Because we failed them. How, turning our head and backs because they were not our children or family. Blessed to help and looked the other way. Selfishness, lack of love and concern, the teachers dress code is a small concern.
Schools are supposed to educate students so they can better themselves. We need teachers who set examples of what the students can become, not mirror images of who they are! Schools are supposed to prepare students to earn their way in life. Businesses have expectations of the people they hire to represent them - expectations in dress and appearance as well as book learning knowledge and the ability to count change!
If they are hiring people who haven't learned to dress appropriately, perhaps they are hiring the wrong people? With the number of teachers seeking work after state layoffs, Henrico could probably be more picky about who they employ. A teacher who can't/won't dress in a presentable manner is probably slovenly in their teaching habits as well.
I think that's a broad generalization. I think teachers should be able to wear jeans, but facial piercings are not appropriate. Are we suggesting uniforms or just certain restrictions?
Restrictions are necessary but deeming semi-casual clothing "inappropriate" is a bit much. I'm a professional and we are allowed to wear jeans on a daily basis, why should teachers not be allowed?
Students learn from teachers. Teachers teach not only verbally but by actions. They are roll models who students mimic. What is the message that is being taught by actions? This also applies to a students home life and many are getting the wrong messages.
