It is not appropriate and could be distracting. Only members of the patient care staff should be present in the operating room.
It seemed to work well and may be appropriate in other settings. If the patient and his/her care team are ok with it, why not let our customers take advantage of this tool?
It can only be considered successful in that it attracted media attention. There is no patient care benefit.
