Washington, DC, will not allow the firearms, so leave those at home. Bring something to sit on, sunscreen, a broad brimmed hat, lots of water to drink, a snack or lunch {there are a lot of places to eat inside Union Station (restaurant upstairs, lots of 'fast food' downstairs) but it's three blocks away and there is usually a crowd} and lots of water to drink. Bring ID and some cash. Fanny packs suggested . . . they even make them with a reservoir for water or places to hold bottled water. Be careful when in any crowd as there will be "pick-pockets" who bump into you and lift your wallet at the same time.
Come to Washington, DC, for the activities Sept. 10, 11, and 12. But especially the 12th. Park in a Metro parking lot and ride to Union Station. Or take Amtrak to Union Station. See http://www.commuterpage.com/metroconnect.htm . . . Parking at the BWI Amtrak lot is less than parking inside DC. There's also Maryland's Light Rail Service (MARC) and Virginia's Railway Express (VRE) for those living or wishing to stay outside DC.
Let me tell you something....as one who spent 18 years working on Capitol Hill, use your LAST DIME if you must to get there. It is the ONLY way you will get their attention.
The future of this nation depends upon us. Ever heard of The Million Man March? Even the blacks know you must show up in great numbers.
Money is tight for us, too, but WE ARE GOING. Do it for FREEDOM, please.
