With the financial crisis before us, the pending layoffs, the union contracts that will be negotiated under very strained conditons, what Billerica needs is a very seasoned, experienced negotiator. This is not the time to give anyone on-the-job-training, and that is what we will get with an assistant manager. This was a very bad idea, and unfortunately we will be the poorer for it.
