Unfortunately the economy collapsed right after my wife got a job out of state so I left my salaried design job to move and job postings disappeared. I started up my own business but even my big name clients have closed up their pocketbooks until late summer. Thankfully I've had some business but not nearly enough to consider it sustainable.
I think if you already have a nice client list it would be easier to manage but just getting started is a bit trickier. (or at least that is how it has been on my end.)
