What do you think of the cover art for 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel'? (Poll Closed)

This album cover is something new and fresh for MC! Completely different artwork than all her other albums containing "only one" Mariah but with this album cover it is clear that we will see more than just one side of her. I think it's a great cover and I can't wait 4 it 2 come out!

I think the cover is fresh and fun. I hope the CD does very well. The music is hot so far and the album cover is a good match. Love it.

Why does she look like a man in the middle picture??? The entire cover looks very gay and drag-queenish. I'm gonna need to purchase this online or go through the self checkout so people don't look at me and think weird things.

I voted for I love it, cause it's very different and at the same time so Mariah! I love her idea of the three poses depicting different emotions...for the one's who don't love it I think they should give this album cover it's props because the meaning behind it is great...like Mriah said theirs a little bit of both on this album verses new and old Mariah...and this album cover kind of takes me back to Butterfly era. GO MIMI!

The middle pic is ugly and she looks like she's being pleasured in the pic on the right. The only good pic is the one on the left. But it's all ruined because of the white background and the boob shadow. Did we really need 3 Mariahs and 6 boobs on the cover?

I am a big Mariah fan but I am so disappointed with the choice of the album cover. First, it was so photoshopped. Second, according to Mariah, she chose the album cover as it shows different emotions. Where's the different emotions? The pictures all look like the same. They were all sensual and no other emotion is conveyed. She should have shown one that is lonely or sad, one that is estatic, and one that may be angry, bitch or whatever so as to showcase the different feelings embodied in the album. Or maybe, the songs in the album would all sound the same so the pictures all convey same emotions albeit in different poses only.

Yeah, it was not what i expected. Besides the bad photoshop treatment, seems like the cover was not as deep as everyone was thinking of. The thing is this Cover really should look pretty at stores. It's clear, it's colored, she's smiling. So i guess i'm liking it better with time. It's def not a WOW cover for me, but i think it's just ok.

It's more FHM than MOAIA. People will only see the boob shadows not the emotions. This doesnt reflect the tittle. This is not natural. Not an imperfect angel. The pose is forced and the three Mariahs express the SAME!! I'm a REAL LAMB from the beginning and I am disappointed with this. Sorry

I like the fresh look but this cover doesn't fit with the title at all. Also, the shadows are horrendous and the middle and right pics aren't that flattering. Loving the fonts but why is the I in imperfect not big like the M and A? Not consistent at all.

I vote for LOVE IT 'cause it's another MCC classic cover. It reflects dif. emotions but also some of the previous covers. Still it's like the OBSESSED smth SO NEW for Mariah. She is confident, sexy, beautiful and HAPPY, all in one picture. I'm hungry for the new songs! Mariah is always one step before everyone else and this cover says it all.

Mariah, this cover needs to be changed. There are some fans out there that will love anything you do, but I know when to criticise. Your cover needs to be deeper. The title of the album is SUPERB and it suggested that the cover would be incredibly artistic and personal. This is more like a photo shoot for a magazine. The shadows on the wall are embarrassing. The middle picture isn't very flattering, and there's not enough emotion shown.

I just hope that we fans look at this cover very objectively and try to reach out to Mariah that this has to be changed. We love the new title but the cover should also reflect the title. She can do better. We should not patronize all the things when we think she can be better and I believe that she really is.

The cover is not good and needs to be changed. It's a sad fact that many of her fans will say they love this ridiculous cover whether they do or not. They are totally not being real with Mariah and are letting her make a fool of herself.

The cover is OK! I like more when it's only one Mariah on the there, but the new one is still good! I love the fact that there will be a lot of different emotions and moods on this album! I love every side of Mariah so i really can't wait to buy and listen to this "Memoirs" again & again! Mariah's the queen! I love her!!!! And i'm sure this will be one of the very best albums she has ever made!

The cover is not THAT bad, but it could have been better. I mean, the central picture is terrible, it must be changed. And the shadows should be polished; they make her boobs look bigger. I L-O-V-E Mariah, and this cover is not a huge disaster, but there are just a few annoying details that can be fixed. Mariah! Just ask your photographer to polish it up. That's all.

I'm a huge Mariah fan since 1902, and I love her and support her in everything she does, but I think being honest is also a part of being a true lamb, so I must share my honest opinion.

I'm a graphic designer, and ok, the cover is not awfully bad, BUT it's not great. The photos are ok, and it would make a nice mag cover, but for an album cover I find it cheap, like someone who just played twice with photoshop made it. The composition is so simple, it doesn't bring anything new, and Through The Rain font type is just not cool for this album.

The feelings that come to ur mind are not the ones u're supposed to get with that incredibly great title... I don't know who worked for Mariah on this, but I'm sure he/she lasted like 2 minutes doing this... just look at the left elbow of second Mariah, so bad cutting!!

I truly think she should reconsider doing another photoshoot and hiring someone more qualified to do more ideas for the best album of 2009, it deserves much better!!!

I just think we all should be honest and say our most sincere thoughts about this... And if I'm posting this comment is just cuz I LOVE Mariah so much and just want the best for her.

none of the pics look like her.... the left one reminds me of "glitter" for some reason... the middle one has a weird face.. the right one emphasizes her nose(which, from the bottom, doesn't look all that sexy.. lol)... but all in all, i'm sure the music will make everyone forget about the cover....

This album needed a more natural and organic cover - something along the lines of the inner photos of CB. I am a bit disappointed but then again once the music is good I'm happy out.

I don't know how exactly to go about it, but this is fcuking pathetic. It's like Mariah and her "advisers" just work overtime to figure out ways to make Mariah laughable/amateur/trashy. This has go to be her worst album cover to date! And I have worked in marketing, so I can tell you PACKAGING is important! Even moreso in the music/entertainment industries. I am so shocked and disappointed, I can't even know what to say.

Please, let's organize on Twitter/Facebook/Email/Telephone to each individually voice our disapproval of this $HIT COVER. Mariah is in desperate need of feedback and since none of the flunkies around her provide it, then we might as well!

I thik the album cover would've been much better if it was just the picture on the left. The middle and right pictures are Horrid. She looks like she is being sexually pleasured in the right picture, and in the middle pictures she looks a dude. But really the album cover would'be been alot better if it showed mariah wearing all black clothes (kinda like daydream) and she was standing to the side a little with black/gray wings coming from her back. With her head faced toward the sky. It would spark major curiosity. she would look like an imperfect angel. But really. the music is what trully counts. i would prefer her to keep the cover the same and have bomb classic songs. then to change the album cover, and the songs be shitty. so please just focus on the music. besides the cover ant that bad. it better than e=mc2 in every aspect. it better than emotions and rainbow. But not to stray from the point. I just hope she makes songs like "All I Ever Wanted", "Melt Away", "Forever","Dreamlover", "Hero", "Underneath The Stars", "Close My Eyes", "I Am Free", etc... I'm glad to hear she's working back w/ Walter A. Again. He truly brought out the best in Mariah. So if she goes back to makeing good, emotional, classic songs (like from the "Daydream", and "Music Box" era) we would have an unstopable genuis on our hands. Also I really wanna hear her sing. not just hitting high notes and what not. I just wanna hear her sing, and write meaningful songs, that comes from the depth of her warm heart. I wanna hear songs that will make me mourn over a failed relationship (Forever). I wanna hear songs that will make me reminence about young love (Underneath The Stars). I wanna hear songs that will show the 'imperfect side" of not just her but love over all. Besides most of her songs talk about love anyway. Mariah i'm trying to be optimistic about your music, but after hearing you rebel from your daydream, music box, MC, Emotions, music so long, I almost cant help but to be pesimistic. Please reclaim your crown. Because over the past few years, I've supported you. But its really been an over all let down, because us fans know what you're cable of. It almost tragic. I for ONCE dislike something Mariah related. I voted for hate it, even though I dont totally hate it. Its a good concept I guess but they couldve done something with so much more depth. For a start, I CANNOT believe, even if you pay me, that those are the 3 best pics from the shoot (the middle pic... eek, its too bad, and only makes it worse being the center pic). 2nd whats with that choice for an "outfit", 3rd, im all for her almost flashing her boobs but its a tad much in this, and im not even counting the boob-shadows, its crazy. Maybe its the white, maybe its the bad photoshopping (gotta admit it), maybe its cause im not seeing her best assets (the legs), but I would've rather have the Obsessed picture as the cover. At least she looks like a bad-ass on that one!

Even if the text of the album title were in color. This album cover is such a boring brown and white. Bland! Sure, she looks HOT! But the album cover is way too bland looking. Come on. This looks like someone put it together overnight in photoshop.

MikeRC, I am absolutely taken by your own Mariah artwork. It is *much* better than the real one. Here's hoping the right person sees it and it becomes the real cover.

Your artwork shows Mariah as she truly is - classy, sexy, beautiful...angelic. It is not much more colorful than the official album artwork, but, similar to the "Butterfly" album cover, it just works. It fits the title perfectly, and the image is striking and eye-catching.

This cover is horrible to CD cover, if mariah likes show her body she can does in a X Magazine, but this is a CD and the title of the album Memoirs... needs a realy good cover.. this is a ship!

I just made it in 5 minutes, I could do better, but that was just to show people (and Mariah if we are lucky) that in so little time, you can get something much better than the actual cover (with so many big mistakes), and EVEN using the SAME photoshoot (just in case they don't have time to do another one or just want to use one of those pictures)...
Just wanted to make a point, and I just hope Mariah or someone near her sees this and do something! I'd be happy even if they use the actual cover but fixing those horrible mistakes (fading boob enormous shadows, the elbow and the hair of third M)...

I am absolutely astonished at the amount of people that voted "Love It" so far. The album cover is bland and completely boring. I have taken plenty of classes in computer graphics and this album cove looks like it was made by an amateur in less than 2 minutes time. The cutting and photoshoping around the bodies are hideous and the title of the album is lopsided (or appears to be). Please don’t let this era go down the drain like the previous one.

JOHNNY, I definetly agree with you: I tried to figure out wich the 3 emotions were, but I failed. I also waited for a deeper cover, I mean, "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel", that's no cheap title, so the cover shoulda been a piece of art. Anyway, I like the cover, but I don't love it so...I really hope our MC changes her mind and release the album with a brand new (and much better) cover.

P.S.: Migrate and Side Effects would've given Mariah her 19th ad 20th #1's.

I like how fresh and serene it looks. It almost looks angelic, really. It's pretty different from some of her past covers.

However, I totally agree with the comments being made about the shadows. They are O.O.C. and not in a good way. They are completely off and look almost ridiculous. it's definitely something very different from her previous album covers but it could do with a little bit of more colour and effect...but still overall it's beautiful and fresh...it was a bit confusing when she said she was trying to emote three different characters on the cover but she is smiling in two of the poses hehe...but i still love it! and as for those stupid people who said it was photoshopped...i don't think it is...those are her real curves and boobs...although i'd have to admit she could have reduced her boobs in the cover hehe...well at least Mariah is not being a fake...rather than some idiots who say how Mariah's cover is photoshopped and still hating on her but then praises Madonna for her poster ad and also admitting it was photoshopped...you silly pink hog!

I love all things MIMI related, but I don't LOVE this cover. I'm honestly getting a bit tired of seeing so much airbrushing, but I'd probably be airbrushed too all the time if I could be! I am happy to see a cover that isn't black, though. Whatever the cover is; I'm still gonna stock up ASAP! Love to all the Lambs!

The other thing, is that I'm not really loving the up-the-nose shots, never a hot look. And I really just think Nick should be standing next to her with a hose. lol I love MIMI but this doesn't make me want to post this album cover. I'm not a huge fan of the Obsessed cover either, but I do like that better than this. Guess we'll have to see lambies. It's interesting to see so many people not like it. I do love her haircolor and make up, but overall, just a bunch of bad angles.

This is by far the worst cover Mariah's ever had!!! I've never hated any of her other covers, but this one is really terrible. They aren't good pictures of her, and it just looks so cheap and amateurish. I'll have to buy this online because I would be way too embarassed to be seen buying it in the store.. I definitely think that this cover could cause some people that might have bought the album otherwise not to.

It's the worst cover she's ever done. I always love Mariah's cover. In fact, I think I love all of em. Butterfly, Rainbow, #1s, Glitter, E=MC2...all of em. But this, Mariah is hot but she just doesn't look too good in the middle picture. Puffy face. Left Mariah looks very pretty though. I hate hate hate the tacky boob shadows. I mean, that's just soo silly. And as a die hard Mariah fan, I know her boobs aren't THAT big and I just absolutely don't get why it's been made even bigger. So unnecessary. The white is fresh looking but maybe a bit boring. Love the title and font. I'd mcuh rather have the Obsessed cover as the album cover!! That one is HOT.

MikeRC. That one is so much better! Good job! The HQ picture magnifies how bad the photoshop work they did is though. It would've been very pretty if it wasn't for the distracting nose. Photoshopping should be done subtlely and not stick a whole different nose on her (and an ugly one too). It's like she had bad plastic surgery. These people call themselves professionals?? Ugh. I know we are b*tching and I hate to be so negative but it's only because we (I) care (maybe a bit too much)!!!

I think that it's a step backwards. "The Emancipation of Mimi" and "E=MC²" were sexy, but were mature and sophisticated, too. This, to me, just seems like a sequel to the happy, fun, and tweenie bouncing on mattresses in lingerie of "Rainbow." She needs to have it redone.

I think this cover looks like a shampoo advertisment or a hair highlighting product .. I really like how this product left her hair colour! The album title should be "L'Oreal's Feria for an Angel".

i couldn't care less if the cover was completely blank i just want to hear mariah's beautiful voice singing quality and diverse music. she does look fabulous on the cover but she is a musician in the end and not a model. so far with "obsessesd" the album looks like it's gonna be good. i really hope she doesn't completely back track t the 90's on the rest of the album though. i really luv emancipated mariah and "obsessed" is really reflecting that fiesty side of her that i luv. obviously her earlier songs were classic and inspirational and i luv those to but her more recent stuff just sparks something in me.

Have you noticed the V-Neck at the right and left Mariahs seem to be fake! The central Mariah has a round neck and in the other it is cut, but the breast/skin don't seem to be real.. specially on the right Mariah it looks so weird.
When you look at the cover.. your eyes automaticly goes to the boob's shadows.. it is so funny!

We love the cover and understand the concept of it;
The mariah on the left is R&B, the one in the middle is POP and the one on the right is HIP-HOP. Great idea ! We love it.
Suggestion: I think a silver backgroung would add more drama; and the dress being black would look more sophisticated.
PS: We think Mariah should stop with all those pink colors; it's unapropriate.
PS: It is very nice that she tooks back her hair color from the butterfly album.

And please dont release a ballad as 2nd single. We have an hip hop uptempo with "Obsessed", now we need a urban/pop/dance/electro/R&B uptempo as a 2nd single; than will come the ballad as 3rd single.

Those who voted for "love it" obviously don't feel the need to add anything in this blog - the blog still makes sense. At the beginning I really liked the cover. I am happy it is different from the last two - not as dramatic and statuesque. This one is more carefree, natural and casual. It made me think of the earlier albums. However, after reading all your comments and taking a better look at the cover, I must admit that if you start looking at the shadow of her "upper-layer," that's all you see. It would be enough to get rid of the shadows altogether and fix the elbow/hair situation. Yes, a silver (or gold) background would be a great idea - maybe for the Deluxe edition. Well, I still like it any way. I am just so glad that she didn't make any explicit reference to the "angel" part - wings or feathers would have been so tacky. P.S.: The font for the title is not the same as that for Charmbracelet.

I LOVE IT! Mariah looks GORGEOUS. I like the poses, how her hair is style, the dress is very pretty and sexy at the same time. It's completely unique as there is not an album of hers that contains 3 pictures. It was a great idea!

Big Mariah fan here... Some of you may have read my previous comments before... There's no doubt that I love MC... But I hope that they've put a halt to any printing they may have already done, because the cover has got to go!
It doesn't reflect the album in any way whatsoever. If anything, it looks more like "Memoirs of an Imperfect Ho."
I was really hoping for an amazing cover. Something classy, and perhaps I don't know, maybe something ANGELIC. I mean, she doesn't need to have angel wings , or anything, but at least an angelic expression--kind of like the cover of her Greatest Hits album (NOT referring to the #1's CD, the actual greatest hits one). She could've also done something a little mystical, like the cover of her "Can't Take That Away From Me Single." I mean , wow, there are so many possibilities that could come out of the cover that could match the album tittle... But this one is doesn't match at all! Mariah please, we want people to take you seriously. I thought that she had learned her lesson from the "I'll be Lovin U Long Time" video, TOO sexy (or skanky) won't sell--quite the opposite. Mariah, we get it, you're way hot, and you have big boobs... but this doesn't need to be shown all the time. Please go back to the photo studio, and make a proper album cover. We want you to do well, and to sell. This album could easily have at least two number ones--so we need to play the cards right so that you can achieve that. Come on, do you think the Grammy's will take you seriously with this album cover? Don't you want them to finally show you some respect, and recognize you the way you deserved to be recognized?

Something else I just notice, thanks to the close up MikeRC gave us of that pic... her dress isn't actually a dress--it's a regular men's tanktop. Look close at the link I placed on my previous comment. It's a tanktop, but the neck was cut to look like a v-neck, and so was the bottom to give it more shape. I wonder if she's been wearing Nick's tanktops, and maybe thought it was hot. (I think it's hot for sure, and showcases her curves, but not good as an album cover, at least not this album).

Obsessed is exciting and unexpected, the phot for obsessed not overly sexy (just enough clothes) and love the new cd title, but the picks for the cd remind me of a MINDLESS playboy bunny and they sell your talent short. My advise: show beauty and a little depth with the 3 Mariahs. TRUST ME ON THIS!!!!

Also, my dear, please check out your direct competition on their cd photos (you know the 2 ladies I'm talking about!) The level that Bret Ratner is on for your video...that's the level you need for the photographer of your cd. Your cd title is too promising for cheezy photos. OMG, those pictures are SO funny! It's so odd to see her as a boy. It's cool. I think the concept of the video is that EVERYONE is obsessed with her. As she walks down the street, everyone stares... This album cover just shows that even though she is 40 she still has an amazing body, although it's probably been airbrushed? I like the left picture and the far right one, even though her breasts look, to be blunt, huge. The middle one i'm not so sure about..there is just something about that picture that's just, different. She said each one stands for a certain emotion and it doesn't necessarily mean the usual: angry, depressed etc. The left one could show freedom (in her songwriting and in her lyrics), the middle one could be cheekiness by the half light, half shadow on her face (@ eminem, clearly by the single Obsessed) and the last one could be showing her confidence by how open the picture is. Overall, it's a decent album cover and everyone is chatting about Whitney's comeback and album, firstly where is the lead single? She only has 2 months to promote the lead single and album all over the world, not going to happen. Mariah's album should be amazing :D

First of all, about Charly's comment, I must say I consider myself a TRUE TRUE LAMB and the reason this cover is SO IMPORTANT is cuz we're expecting this album to be THE BEST ALBUM of 2009, so we NEED a good cover for it! The best album of 2009 can't have a trashy, cheap and awfully-made cover! The packaging is also a very important thing to sell records (I'm sure the music will be HOTTT). And we, TRUE LAMBS, just want THE BEST for Mariah, and this is clearly not :(

@MikeRC Thats a fantastic cover! (the 2nd version) I really really dig it! It's probably how it should be! I like how the letters at the bottom kinda resembles the Daydream cover. I just think it needs an outline so it pops. I still dont really think its the best picture (cause she has her eyes closed and looking up her nose is not very nice) but i'd buy this just cause you got rid of most of that bizarre blurred hair at the top. I'd also use a different font for the title, one thats less generic, or maybe have it on bold (its not just a title, its a statement!). So congrats! overall its more appealing to me than the real one cause I dont like all the white. I like her more darker / coloured covers. I'm over this whole dilemma to be honest, at the end of the day it won't be changed. Lord only knows why she approved this one...

I've been a Mariah Carey fan almost my whole life. But I have to say that, after so many years waiting for Mariah to be a serious artist again (like she used to be in the '90), I'm getting angry. I CAN'T undertstand why she is so OBSESSED with making herself a teenager icon, instead of continuing to be a worldwide superstar. This new era is not was I expected. I am very very very very disappointed with the first single. I think it's one of Mariah's worsts songs ever. And now, the album cover, with that horrible boobs shadows. Why???? Mariah was perfect back then, she had everything. With Rainbow she decided to change in every way, and I can undesrtand it, cause she NEEDED to have fun. But please, nowadays she is 39, she needs to be classic again, serious, deep music, great videos... Stop doing ridiculous things! With E=MC2 thing get better, please don't go back again! I think this cover is horrible. It is the typical Mariah photoshoot. It's not original, It's the common picture that you san see in every magazine. It looks like a shampoo advert. There are many STUPID fans who are blind because they adore every single move Mariah makes, and she's a human being. As the title of the album says, she's not perfect, and fans like me, who have been there since 1990/91 want Mariah to GIVE US HER BEST, and this cover is for me the worst in her entire career. Mariah has been doing r&b and smooth - whispered ballads for more than 10 years, when she turned to hip/hop and what today they call "r&b". She did great in Butterfly, Glitter (a misunderstood album), Charmbracelet and The Emancipation of Mimi. But she needs a change, and I think she's starting to get the idea. Noticed the lady gaga influence in "Obsessed"? She needs more rythm!

E=MC2 was not what we expected. She used the same pose she did in the cover of The Adventures of Mimi. With some exceptions (Touch my body, Side Effects, I'm that chick, I'll be loving you long time, Bye Bye) the album was boring, indifferent, the same r&b songs. Because I LOVE MARIAH, and I THINK SHE'S ONE OF THE GREATEST PERFORMERS EVER, I want her to surprise me, I want her to give us her all, reinvent her music. I like "Obsessed" a lot, I think she needed a change and she took the lesson from the mediocre sales and reviews of E=MC2.

The left one is nice but it is clear that there has been some airbrushing and photoshop. the right one is okay but nothing special. the middle one, wtf. i love mariah and even though i was born in 1991 and wasn't there for her debut, i have grew up listening to mariah carey and she is amazing and i want the best for her and the single Obsessed is amazing, so catchy and likely to be her 19th NO1 but the cover is not reflecting how good the album will probably be. If she had just had the left one on the cover, i don't think there would've of been all this debate over the cover, but then if it was just the left one it would be a LOT like her Butterfly album cover. This is for Andrea (from Spain) I totally disagree with you: E=MC2 is a thousand times better than Glitter, Chrambracelet and TEOM together. Glitter has two of her best ballads, and even thoug TEOM was a huge succes, I think E=MC2 is quite better: Songs like For the Record, Touch My Body or I Wish You Well are something we couldn't hear since 1999.

I have to say that I LOVE Mariah's performance at MJ memorial: The final was amazing, she has the most beautiful voice. It's perfect (although it was a perfect performance, the voice is BEAUTIFUL)

I thought her performance of I'll Be There was so emotional and in the circumstances and how emotional she was, it was an amazing performance. It made me cry because you could see she was trying to sing through every word and on her twitter she said she fought so hard to keep the tears back and that's why she didn't sing a lot of the high notes and the pressure of the coffin being there and the Jackson family in the front row, she said she had so much pressure and was so upset. She's human, not a robot. People who criticise her about her performance have no understanding of the situation. She has feelings and sometimes can't control her emotions which will affect her performance.

I know Mariah is critical of herself but I think she's being a little harsh when she apopligized for her performance at MJ's memorial. you could tell that she was really emotional at the beginning but she pulled it together at the end and and started hitting her notes. common she was the first to hav to perform in front of a casket with a dead icon in it in front of millions of his fans and famiy. now if the next tme she does a normal performance she cracks then people can start speculating, but i don't think that's gonna happen

It's obvious that Mariah Carey's voice changed after several years (of course it will). But I don't think she can no longer sing the song "Ill Be There", which she did during MJ's Memorial, cause she just sung that song wonderfully on VH1 Save The Music. Besides, most of the cracks occured during the start of the song and I don't really think a high voice is needed for those lines of the song, so it was clear she just choked up. But she finished the song okay...in fact she still was able to sustain the high notes in the end. So if she can't really sing anymore, then I don't think she could even finish that song, cause the high notes are on the last part of the song...she could've just dropped the mic and gave a speech. But that didn't happen, as we all know!

Don't like the cover....could it be more sophisticated this time?...Mariah could include nude photos, as many as she wants, as long as she place it inside the album...so as not to deteriorate the impression upon looking at the cover...it's just dry and it's like a cover of a men's mag...not album worthy like the previous TEOM cover! Although I don't think they still have the time to change it, with just how many days before the release.

It was obvious she was emotional, but she can't sing live anymore. Her voice and lack of confidence have just gotten to that point. I don't want to see lip synching and pre recorded vocals anymore. Just admit your problem and keep the singing to a minimum. That said, the memorial performance was decent and is excused for what it was.

The didn't rehearse thing is bs b/c she never rehearses and she's sung that song so many times and someone said there was rehearsal footage on ET. I really don't want or need Nick to be her publicist. Focus on your shit and stay out of Mariah's career. Thank you.

Mariah has 18 #1s and we're being greedy. IMO, if she gets anymore, the songs need to be quality. Obsessed isn't that and thus I don't care if it gets to #1. I only hope it doesn't flop b/c the album would suffer, but otherwise its not that great and I don't care. The video seems like it will be great hower.

I think, no evidence btw, but I think Mariah fans are obsessed with #1s. I was and can be too, but the music isn't always great. It really pisses me off that she can't strive for Butterfly greatness and do the remixes and all. Thats the bar she set for herself and why she stands apart and to let that go sometimes makes me question whats holding me to her. Especially after horrible performances, having to deal with Nick's bs and other stuff.

I hope the new era is a positive one with great work but her voice is already such a let down that I can't look forward to performances and only hope they aren't embarassing.

Wow, Mariah looks REALLY hot in this video. I think that this is the hottest she's ever looked on a video... besides Heartbreaker, and Honey. Brett definitely knows how to bring out her sexy side. Don't get me wrong, she usually looks pretty in her videos, but never this hot. All I can is WOW! I'm totally cool with the photoshoot scenes. It's a great way to do the close up shots, which are required for any video, no matter who's the artist. It also goes with the theme... The whole video doesn't have to be about Eminem. The video is about everyone being obsessed with her (including Eminem). You have the fans that are waiting for her to walk into the hotel (which happens to her in real life), you have the doorman, who may not be a fan, but is stunned as soon as he lays eyes on her. You have the guy that works with her/for her... who can't even concentrate on his job because he's too busy being obsessed with her. Then you have Eminem being obsessed with her at his place, with Mariah posters all over his room. Then of course you have the stalker who follows her around.
I personally think that video is great. It's going to be a huge hit on Youtube. I mean, talk about eye candy... and the end was hilarious!

On itunes the single has fell down to 14. I know i want this single to be successful because it is an amazing song, even if she is using auto-tune. Also, the video is good, especially the ending with the bus, it made me laugh because it was just like Mean Girls. I can't help but think the single isn't going to do well because she should've released the video before actually releasing the single, so now a lot of people have already bought the single. Hopefully, it'll be like TEOM when she released It's Like That which reached 16 but then her second single WBT was her most successful single. It's also best to focus on the positive things, and not the negative. There will always be a negative, so best to just move on. Lately I've noticed that the people that have been saying the worst things on the Internet about Mariah, have been who actually claim to be fans. If all you do is point out what she didn't do, or couldn't do, then you're not really a fan, are you?
We should all be thankful that Mariah is still recording music after all these years. The careers of most performers don't last past ten years, hers has.
It's also good to appreciate that she's still with us. What if it would've been Mariah, instead of Michael who would've past away? I bet that all the sudden all those haters would all the sudden stop being in denial and would proclaim their love for Mariah just like many people did with Michael. Although Obsessed is slipping down the Itunes chart in the US we can still make it NO1. Stream the video on Yahoo or like some Mariah fans do, download the single multiple times. Obsessed is currently at NO1 on the Japan's Itune Chart :) which is amazing and NO8 in Austrailia's and also, NO10 on Italy's Itune Chart. Obsessed has just fallen another place on the US Itunes to 16. HollywoodLeo, i agree with you. People are hating on Mariah and some claim because of the auto-tune in the single. Wait there. Doesn't a lot of artists use auto-tune and no one criticises them. For example: Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, to name a few. Mariah is experimenting with music and if she released a single that was in the style of her debut, do you think it would chart well? I really love the song "Obsessed", its not one of Mariah's best singles, but she is just trying something new, now every artist is trying something new like Shakira with her new single "She Wolf". The music video is also not one of her best, I expected way better, there was too much of her in the photoshoot, don't get me wrong, I love the music video. Mariah needs to start promo pronto, she should've been gone on a radio promo tour like she did with "Touch My Body", or atleast start performing the song. When we ask for good musci we are not thinking only about the ballads. Love her up-tempos, but Obsessed is horrible. It's not good at all, it's one of her worst songs ever. We love her singing ballads, but it would be boring if she only sings that. We love mid and up tempos, but, repeat, the good ones (Emotions, Fantasy, Honey, Heratbreaker, and my so loved Touch My Body). These songs are pure Mariah, and have become classics. Obsessed sounds like Britney Spears or ever worse, and next month nobody will remember this song (I hope)

^ for the millionth and one time, i guess she cant please anyone. I clearly remember when TMB came out everyone was flipping out 'cause "she sounded weird" or the song was "overtly sexual" or "why she sound so nasal?". I'm actually glad it doesn't sound like anything she's done 'cause I know ya'll would be ready to call it a TMB part II, for example. I like it. Britney Spears? she wishes she could do something like this. You call this horrible, obviously you have not paid attention to what's "hot" right at the moment. Now THAT'S horrible. At least this has some substance.

Probably only Beyonce but that was just hype out of a good dance routine).. and WHOA back off stan! what's this "she decided fucking Nick was more important than her album" -- here i was trying to keep it PG-13 for the kiddies but you went R-rated on us. Probably having a life and being happy (you call it "fucking") was far more important to her at that moment. think about it. By the time ISIL came around, all hope was lost, and that one wasn't even half bad. You say you want quality.. Had she released "For The Record" or "I'm That Chick", Lord only knows why there was so much hype about those in lamb-land, do you think it would've made a difference? Well, actually she did promote "Chick" far more than ISIL and yet, nothing happened. Overly concerned with hits? what's the point of releasing singles anyway if they're not gonna do anything for the project, or bring some type of fulfillment? Thank u "honey" for slapping some common sense in here. I wasn't dissing on Butterfly, I agree it's one of her best songs. I was just comparing it to how it was a follow-up to Honey (the #1 hit-debut that it was) and then Butterfly got released and I think it was her very first real single to go nowhere (shock horror!). I'm still mad IBLULT didn't get the attention it really deserved! Obviously some effort from her would've helped but I'm thinking ppl should've just picked it up for the great song that it was, or would've if we were living in different times. It was like the perfect 90's throwback pop single.

Yes, IBLYLT was very underrated but at the end of the day charts don't matter as much as good music, and that was definitely good music!

MARIAH CAREY MEMOIRS PUSHED BACK

Fans will have to wait to get their hands on Mariah Carey's Memoirs. The pop diva's 12th studio album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, has been pushed back three weeks to September 15, Rap-Up.com can confirm. It had previously been scheduled for an August 25 release. There are reports that the album was not completed in time to make the original release date.
"Can't wait to get bc in the studio and finish up tomorrow. My deadline is asap, so if I don't tweet much for a few days, please forgive me," Mariah wrote in a tweet from July 12. As recently as Tuesday morning, she tweeted that she was still in the studio finishing the project. A video for the "Obsessed (Remix)" featuring Gucci Mane will premiere Thursday.
The album will miss the August 31 cutoff for the 2010 Grammy Awards nominations and will now go head-to-head on the charts with Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 (Sept. 11) and Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon: The End of Day.

The release date for Mariah's upcoming album, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, has changed from August 25th to September 15th on Amazon.com. Could this be just an error on the Amazon site? Lately, almost every Mariah album gets delayed. The Emancipation of Mimi was delayed several times and was finally released on April 4, 2005. E=MC2 was supposed to be released in November 2007 and was finally released on April 16, 2008. That is 5 months later!
In related news, according to Billboard, Mariah's next single will be an old-style ballad produced by Tricky Stewart. The remix to Mariah's new single "Obsessed", featuring Gucci Mane, is now available for download at iTunes.

There have been a couple of single choices I was upset about here and there (especially on E=MC2) but i didn't sit around b!tc#ing about it everyday. I actually made the effort as a fan of Mariah's music to go and actively promote her singles and purchase them and if the single flops oh well i did my part. So shame on you fans here that just come on here griping your wo-is-me moments and do nothing else. Mariah has a great first single to kick off the album (and very radio friendly) and hell some of you are already talking failure and you haven't even heard the album yet. Oh and by the way the song that some of you hate soo much (Obsessed) debuted at #11! (on its way the #1 soon) This is huge for Mariah at this point in her career (last time she debuted this high was in '98) and it is just barely building momentum on the airwaves. Plus the video and remix were just introduced. So just step out of the way with your uselessness while the real fans step up and get the job done.

I kinda get the feeling that she didn't want to compete with that. Whitney has yet to come out with a single, and from what I've heard, the few songs weren't all that good--the single with Akon sucks, and the ballad written by Diane Warren isn't that impressive either. The only good song so far is "I Look to You" written by R. Kelly, which is a beautiful ballad. It's kinda odd that they haven't chosen a single for her yet, but they probably weren't expecting to have Mariah come out with something... So maybe now they're waiting to see what Mariah's next single will be so they can base they're decision on that. (Mariah should play it smart, and hold off on releasing, or giving any info on her next single till Whitney comes out with hers, or at least wait till mid August). But who knows, I'm thinking that people will buy Whitney's album no matter what, because people want to hear what she comes out with. The sales might actually be over the top. I think that's the reason why Mariah pushed it back. Hopefully she's just adding 3 more hot tracks, or something. By the way, who was she referring to when she said that "BC" was coming to the studio? Was she referring to Beyonce? I've heard Beyonce refer herself as "BC" before (Check on It--single). Something else, I know that this is Generation NOW, and all... But we have to give Obsessed a break. Why are some people saying that they're ready for the next single?!? The song was just released last month! The song aired for the first time on radio 5 weeks ago! You can't expect a song to become a hit overnight, specially if people haven't heard it yet. Yes the song debuted at number 11, and dropped to 20th, but that's fine. The only reason that happened was because fans where buying the song left, and right. A lot of the general public hasn't even heard the song. Most Mariah songs take a couple of months to hit number one (well, at least her last #1). Look at TMB, it had been on the Billboard Top 100 for SEVEN weeks before it hit number one ( 57-34-24-16-14-15-01)... It had been out on radio for like two months, and a half before reaching number one. And that was with plenty of promotion, and anticipation. Two months ago we didn't even know that she was coming out with an album this soon. We need to give Obsessed a break. It's barely been out for a month, and it's only been on the Hot 100 for two weeks. It's actually doing pretty well for a song that came out of nowhere. Don't give up! Spread the word, request, stream... Forget about HATE U, or whatever the next single will be... Focus on the CURRENT single. Believe me, we're not getting a second single anytime soon now that the album was pushed back. Stop all the B.S. talk about how Obsessed is not supposed to be a number one. Come on, this is nothing like what Mariah has done before, it NEEDS to be number one. Look at what all the critics were saying the day the song came out--they were already calling it the song of the summer. It has only been out for five weeks for crying out loud! Stop trying to rush through the album when it hasn't even been released! Let's make Obsessed her next number 1!

I see your point HollywoodLeo, but if the reason Mariah's album is being pushed back is because she's worried about her competition that week, then she wouldn't be releasing her album the same week as Jay-Z, whose last album sold more than E=MC^2 in its first week even though Mariah's had a more successful first single and much more anticipation. Albums from huge hip-hop artists tend to have big first-week sales despite the reception of the first single. She said herself she's still working on the album, that's probably the main reason she pushed it back.

The album would come out in a month, she isn't done, and yet she has yet to start promo and the single isn't doing so hot and oversees, its mostly non existent. Its not going to work and thus she has to push it back.

It's only been out 2 weeks. It wouldn't be the first single to make a big drop in its second week on the Hot 100 after a digital release then build its way back up with radio increase and promotion. GIVE IT TIME BEFORE YOU CALL IT A FLOP. =)

Remix Video of Obsessed is aeons better than the original!!! It breaks up the monotony of the color scheme that the original by replacing the soft blue theme that the original video has with warmer shots. It makes the video more dark gritty and less pastel pop. It's a great balance and the shots are transitioned so smoothly. And of course more of Mariah's hotness. It's soo hot tamale and the remix itself is a beast!

Cons, some of the transitions went too fast, gucci got too much airtime and she seems mighty uncomfortable on some of the scenes where she's singing on that.. table? desk? oh, and where did the boobs go on that white dress?? Very awkward like shes about to fall off :P Reminds me of other awkward poses that shes done like the whole Marilyn Monroe leg pose in the pool (Don't Forget About Us) and laying sideways in the grass (Touch My Body). I prefer more natural shots like when she sings on top of the jet (I Still Believe) or when she sings in the back of that sweet burgundy ride (The Roof ) and pretty much the whole video We belong together every shot of her alone was so natural and inviting. Sorry just ranting about random Mariah moments :P I'm dying to see her shoot a video that could captured the essence of WBT, The Roof and My All.

DRB I'm not gonna lie, I agree with you that a lot of the 90's Mariah video's and songs were leaps and bounds above any thing she's done recently especially in the Daydream and Butterfly era. When the remixes were actually remixed (voice and all) and the videos were artsy, gritty, and didn't have Mariah posing awkwardly on a rock or table. Heck there were even attempts at choreography. But that in no way makes Mariah lazy nor does it make the video a p-o-s. She's got a lot on her table what with trying to finish the album and getting ready for promotion. So cut her some slack. Would you rather have Nick directing again (no offense Nick :P). Besides in those days Mariah was always fighting with her label and the music and the videos were her rebellion. What your asking of Mariah she couldn't provide because the greatest art, like the art of many famous artists, was created during times of great struggle. Those days for Mariah were like the Renaissance in the midst of the Black Plague back in the 14th century. Stop having such high expectations for a human being such as Mariah and maybe you will be pleasantly surprised. She is still doing her thing and who knows maybe she'll return to certain aspects of her early career that she let go of just like any person does when they retrace the steps of their own lives. And any person is capable of success if they just get it in their mental process. Mariah is no exception, as long as she has a goal and something pushing her to give it her all, she'll be alright. Beside the point of her first single was to make something fun and catchy for summer. Negativity isn't gonna yield you any results so why don't you try and leave some suggestions or ideas that you think could be great for her rather than talking smack about her.

I would even say that For the Record was in that category. Mariah has always had lyrically brilliant songs on every album. They just happen to be like the last songs on the track or hidden between the new hot single. I love the urban side of Mariah and the club banging dance remix side of Mariah, who am I kidding I like all the multifaceted sides of Mariah's music. That is what makes her stand out, that is what makes it so easy for her to remain so relevant in music (past present and future) and that is why she is able to please so many of her fans that love specific sides of her music because regardless of what kind of music you like its likely you get a small dose of it on one of her cds. That versatility coupled with her one-of-a-kind, multi-textured, multi layered, amazing voice make her the Music Legend that she is today.
Man, I wish I lived near the LA area so I could stop missing out on all these exclusive events :( This would be the week to push Mariah into the number one spot shes made so many venues for us to help her promote Obsessed. Mariah Daily even made it so much easier by giving us all the links to help her. Obsessed is, in my opinion, the worst single she could have released. And you only have to take a look at Bbillboard Hot 100. If it wasn't for the fans buying the single on iTunes, the flop would have been worst.

TEOM just doesn't feel like a Mariah album to me. I have a hard time enjoying it now. So that and it aged badly. WBT, DFAU Joyride, and occasionally FLAB are the only songs I still listen to. CB is great lyrically, but production and especially vocally, its ruined.----About the Grammy's she probably would have loss if they haven't 'renewed' their relationship w/ her.-----People who can still sing: Patti Labelle is however old and still sounds amazing while rolling across the floor. Celine lips a lot but her voice hasn't taken a major hit.----I can't even look forward to Mariah's performances b/c she will lip, be horrible or both. It just sucks and she doesn't make up for it performance wise or on albums when she acts like she forgot how to write and create amazing songs. So just downhill,

Oh more about Glitter: All My Life, Twister, Never Too Far, Want You, Reflections are all amazing. Lead The Way is a great vocal and content wise, its decent enough. I hated If We for the longest but like it now. Don't Stop was ruined by her letting Mystical take over. Loverboy didn't need to be there twice, barely once for that matter. I like the all the covers. She didn't change them up that much so points off for that, but I do like them a lot. Only 2 songs are covers.

I am so glad Mariah covered I Want to Know What Love Is - I mean the full song. For a moment I was afraid that she had just incorporated part of it in the remix for HATEU. She said in a twitter that the remix features a "classic," so ... I am sure she's going to sound PERFECT. Also excited about Standing Ovation - and no worries if they say that it sounds Ne-Yoish. I remenber when they were complaining about WBT sounding like an Usher song. So, let's stop hating. I'm excited about this album.

I want to hear Standing Ovation and I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS..because here in the philippines , there have been a lot of singers who sang their version of this song..and i hope with mariah , its going to be a lot different.

Tricky and Dream having so much has always bothered me. Don't like Standing Ovation sounding Ne Yo ish, but nice title but doesn't seem like her writing style. If Candy Bling is juvenile crap, hope it doesn't make it (though they didn't mention it this time). Wanna hear H.A.T.E.U. and hope they give more titles. Overall, I need her to get back to her amazing writing style and stop adopting the style of whats hot or the producers.

she has a weird choice of cover songs, well most of them being cheesetastic soft rock 80s ballads, but i'm actually looking forward to this one. i hope it maintains the rock feel though and then something extra. Bringing Dave Navarro on BOTH was a hit for example. Plus we know there's gonna be the full blown gospel choir on this. I can already see this being released in Europe. My fav cover from her is the Beautiful Ones by the way.

I offered my opinion on the Essence thing. Is that what you are talking about? What's the problem? I'm not ecstatic over the news? A title like Candy Bling concerns me or her writing an album w/ people who are below her in writing talent, thus she's dragging herself down.

I'm pretty excited about the cover to "I Wanna Know What Love Is". I think this one will be a monster plus it sounds like it could be reviving the feeling of "Without You" which for all the classic Mariah fans will be happy with. Ribbon sounds deep. Candy Bling sounds fun. I love the fact that Mariah has more songs than she needs and like someone said maybe she can do a two disk.

Wow, sounds like the album is going to be pretty good. This might be her next Emancipation... Too bad the album cover won't be as cool. Though who cares, as long as we get good music, and from the sounds of it, we will! I'm SO GLAD that she chose to do "I Want To Know What Love Is," and that she pulled it off. It is such an amazing song, I remember that my mother would always sing it when I was a kid. It's the perfect song for Mariah, I can already picture her busting out the choir for this song, lol. I'm so looking forward to it... You know, she did this song for us, her fans. We've been wanting an old school ballad, and here it is. She always picks great songs to cover, and makes them takes ten times better... "I'll Be There," "Without You," "Open Arms," "Against All Odds," Do You Know? (Theme From Mohogany)... "Bringing On The Heartbreak" was good, though it suffered from too much whispering like most of Charmbracelet. Anyhow, things are looking good for the album, and the same goes for Obsessed. It's still making it's way up the charts, and each week it's been gaining more airplay. I truly think that this could go to number one, and it should. We just need to be patient, it's only on it's 3rd week on the Top 100, and it took Touch My Body seven weeks. So it could still happen. We need to request, and stream... Come on guys, this is going to be a kick ass album. She might actually surpass te Beatles with this one.

Hey Ariel, I think the song is called "the warning," and yes it's pretty scary. I think some lines at the end of the song could be MC's voice but some other lines are definitely not her. Ok, so I'm listening to Kiss FM in LA, which of course is a top 40 station, ad they played Obsessed. Then half an hour later, they played Obsessed again! I couldn't believe it! See, the only thing the song was missing was exposure. It's been blowing since it got released on top 40/pop radio just a few days ago... And already it's been playing at least hourly on some stations. I played the song to a couple of non-Mariah fans, and at first they were like it's ok... But now they're obsessed with it once they heard it on the radio. One of them even said that this would be the next club hit, which could totally be the case for the remix. He also loved the video, and thought that it was great. Which, I always thought it was. I you think about it, the only people who were dissappointed with it were the people who saw the early pictures of Mariah in drag, and they speculated the video to death... LOL. So by the time it came out they were already picturing the video to be a certain way. Then they were dissappointed... But the video is excellet for those who weren't speculating... Anyhow, this song is getting a lot of airplay, and I think that it's going to jump at least 5 spots next week. This song is definitely going to #1! This will be a slap in the face for those who kept saying that this song wasn't meant to be a hit. Watch, I guarantee you that it will top the charts before the album is released. On another note, thank you for posting those album tracks, whoever you are. I'm glad to hear that there are a variety of producers/writers on the album. Even Seal, wow. Well said Rindy. I agree with you 100%. Eminem just dug real low as a human being doing what he did regardless of whether it was for publicity or not. What he did is something that I could forgive a naive child for but he's a grown man over 35. I recognize that he may have a talent for what he does but his poor excuse of being a decent human being and the way he trashes people for his own personal gain overshadows any reason for me to respect him and what he does. I do know that I owe Mariah my time (well, not all of it :P) because if it wasn't for her songs getting me through some tough times as a kid I may not be here today. Now I don't know for sure if that is true but I know her message helped me. So I'm here to help her make her mark in her lifetime. Well, I'm sure some of you guys knew this, I had to research this one, but here it is: According to Fred from Billboard.com, buying the single twice DOES count towards digital sales and is not considered cheating: “Buying a track two times would count as two sales. There could be a number of reasons you would want to buy the same song twice (maybe you want to have it on 10 different computers). However, if you were to buy a track, let’s say, oh, 800 times, that would be considered an anomaly and would not count.” So if anyone hasn't downloaded the song/remix/video/videoremix a several times and are are considering doing so to help Obsessed you can and it will totally count towards sales. Obviously no one is twisting anyone's arm so if you can, awesome, if you can't, that's perfectly fine (we are still getting out of a recession). Downloading all the available Obsessed songs (ie. Obsessed and Obsessed Remix w/ Gucci Mane) and the coresponing videos for each will run to a good 6 bucks. So if you guys have 6 bucks to spare to help Mariah start this album out on a "High Note ;)" lets do this!

Although i don't like Eminem or his music, i still respect the fact that he makes music and writes his own lyrics, just like Mariah does. But when Eminem released The Warning, i thought he had crossed the line from the situation being a celebrity feud to being nasty and personal.
What reason does he have to go and call Mariah a "cunt," which in my opinion is a disgusting word. I've lost all respect for him now because Mariah was having fun with the song, whilst mocking Eminem is a talented, classy way. However, Eminem just had to go that one step too far by releasing the song that basically sounds like he wants to hit her. And if he has got the pictures and voicemails, that is so pathetic because the "feud" started earlier this decade like 2001, wasn't it? and he claims he has voicemails and pictures, how sad and obsessed he must be to keep them.
Mariah is gaining a lot of airplay and people are beginning to hear the song more and more and seriously, she is in another league compared to Eminem. To all the naysayers regarding Obsessed, it looks like it's here to stay for a while. It's climbing every day in airplay while maintaining its sales figures, which means it's starting to head towards the top 10. KEEP PROMOTING, REQUESTING etc.

Also, don't download the song many times at iTunes on one account. It will NOT count as two sales towards the Hot 100. Instead, stream online and encourage others who don't have it yet to buy it.

A very shallow album cover, clearly saying this record is not to be taken seriously, re-instating every mariah stereotype and cliche out there. e=mc2 was much classier. So far touch my body and obsessed have got non mariah fans saying she is an egomaniac, this album cover is hammering that opinon home, not 1 but 3 self asoring mariahs on the cover. And unfortunatly they dont even achieve their point, the middle pic is ugly, her teeth look very messed up, the boobs look spaced apart implants, terrible.

I thought her taped performance on AGT was a little shaky in some parts but she hits the big notes and the whistle note, whilst being lifted was amazing. There were a few pitchy moments but at least she is singing live. The only problem i had was where the dancers picked her up three times one after the other, that would certainly interrupt with her singing. But other than that, it was good :) lets hope we have more good live performances, like when she shocked all the people who thought she couldn't sing live when she sang Fly Like A Bird which amazing.

Oh, I found the link and I LOVED the performance. I liked how she made some changes. She sang well - but we really can't judge her vocal abilities based on this song - seriously. She hit the high notes and this is great! We'll have to wait until she sings some of the new ballads life to say where here voice is at now. Well, I've been obsessed with The Dream's demos for the last couple of days - love them. I can't wait to H.A.T.E. the album!!!

Personally, i just thought that she got a little bit breathless and a little shaky but i'm not expecting a jaw-dropping performance from Obsessed because it's not meant to be. She did re-arrange the song a little and used back-up which i think was needed because there is so many underlying parts to Obsessed she couldn't possibly sing them all. Also, no one can expect the performance to be pitch perfect, she is using auto-tune so it's not possible. Although i did see the performance from the perspective of a mobile phone that had serious videoing problems on youtube, i thought the performance was good. As of August 6, 2009 "Obsessed" is sitting pretty at #14 on the iTunes Chart (USA), and currently at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 (USA). It's clear to say it's moving back up; in the right direction with sales and airplay gainer.

To Maria - I'm pretty sure Mariah will have more than 6 songs on this album. Her trend to me, is like 14 to 15 tracks at least on each album so far.

I love Mariah and this is sad to say, but i think the cover album is horrible. The tittle of the album itself however is perfect. It's diffrent from any other Mariah album. I think it would be better if the album cover reveals more graceful style as the the album title is. I have seen Whitney new album cover, and i must say, this is a good example of how mariah new album should looks like. However, i also dont think Mariah should release 'Obssesed' as her single, somehow i think it doesnt relevant with the new album title. We all know that Mariah songs are all about positivity. I'm from Britain and we aren't jealous of Mariah, Britain is one of the countries were she is loved and there was only two songs where there was a mixed reception, it wasnt truly bad. 3/5 is not a bad review, and 2/5 is slipping to the negative side but you can't expect the reviewers to be like a lamb, they're objective and are entitled to their opinion. The H.A.T.E.U. demo, although it was a demo, it sounded really good, i hope the track is on the album.

a review from 'The Sun' .... reaaaaaaaallyyyyyyy?? TINCHY STRYDER?? DJ IRONIK?? In my opinion, the only good thing that has come out of the Uk are Rock Bands (pop/rock bands if we go into detail). Funny how her biggest hit over there is Without You and that if she'd tried to go in the directions of "Tinchy&Ironik" she'd be accused of trying too hard to stay relevant.... She's on her very own league. She redefined pop music with the Fantasy Remix and she did it again with WBT, it's her style. There's nothing else to prove.

Wendy Williams, on a recent taping of her new television show, The Wendy Williams Show, claims that Mariah Carey is the blame for the attacks brought on to her by Eminem in his new song "Warning" and she believes the naked pictures of Mariah Carey and more.
As reported on HipHopRX.com on last week, Eminem released his new song entitled "The Warning" and, in the song, dissed Nick Cannon calling him a "punk" and dissed wife Mariah Carey, calling the Pop singer a "liar" and "alcoholic", among other things while hinting that he relieved himself on her and that he has more on Mariah including possible naked pictures of the singer.
"Mariah, you started this," stated Wendy Williams on a recent taping of her new television show, referring to Mariah Carey's song and music video "Obsessed" where Mariah Carey, dressed in Eminem swag, portrays a stalker who stalks after her.
Following that, Wendy Williams goes after Nick Cannon, for inadequately defending Mariah as she claims a husband should. "It's gotten so ugly now that Mariah's husband Nick Cannon is not even adequately able to defend her character," expressed Wendy Williams.

I'm a little surprised that they're STILL working on Mariah's album. Hopefully it'll come out on time... And that page six article is BS... after listening to 4 tracks from Whitney, I've come to the conclusion that she isn't going to have the comeback everyone's expecting. Mariah shouldn't be scared.

More, and more people are buying the song, and is gaining airplay. Actually the airplay is just fine, what I'm surprised about are the audience impressions. See touch my went to number one when the airplay was somewhere in the 9000's I believe, but the audience impressions were at about 90 million, or so. Obsessed currently is spinning in the 8000's but barely has half the impressions TMB had. Odd... Though I think that TMB was playing in more stations than Obsessed, I doubt that Obsessed is playing in Adult Contemporary, lol, but TMB did here, and there. TMB had a broader audience. Either way, it's still getting up there. By the way, I figured out a way to have Obsessed stream all day in your computer without you having to do anything but play it once... Go to Yahoo, and log in to your account, if you don't have one, then make one, takes 5 minutes. Once you're logged in, look up Obsessed under music, and play it. Next to the video window you'll see a link that says "add to playlist." Now here's the trick. If you already have a playlist, then make a new one just for this song, if not, then just add to play list. The key is to just have one song playing on your playlist, that song being Obsessed of course. So go to your playlist, and click on Obsessed, and from that point on you'll see that song will play over, and over without you having to do anything. Yahoo might sneak a 10 to 15 secon commercial in between songs, but it'll play the song again. Its simple. Now I'm sure that people have things to do in their computers besides streaming Obsessed all day.... On the video screen, turn the volume all the way down--not your computer volume, just the volume on yahoo, then minimize the window... Now you can use your computer to do whatever you like, even go on YouTube, and watch a video, and be able to listen to it... all while Obsessed is playing in the background all day without you having to do anything but play it once! You can do this at work, or at home. Give it a shot ;-)

To those who missed my last comment (right above), or were intimidated by it's lengh, lol... Go back, and check it out. I gave a tip on how to steam Obsessed all day by just investing 5 minutes of your time. This will definitely help Mariah!

teom was not much better than e=mc2; it was just backed up by a fortunate choice of singles. of course whitney's voice is not the same, but if she does what is expected of her, i.e. at least a couple of big voice ballads and a few radio-friendly songs, i think she'll do just fine. and mariah - she has nothing to prove by now. her album is going to be great.

Obsessed is finally selling, and I'm not worried about the other guys who got to top 5 on iTunes in a matter of hours. Remember that Obsessed got all the way up to #4 when it was first released. As long as the sales are steady, as well as te airplay, then the song has a chance... The funny thing is that iTunes doesn't truly reflect how many Americans are listening to Obsessed in their MP3 players... More, and more people are turning to Limewire, or other file sharing program/sites for free downloadable music. Specially with today's economy. If you think about it, that's probably one of the top reasons why album sales are down. I personally know a few people that have all the latest music in their iPods, but they didn't pay for any of it! I can't blame them for not being tempted, but it sucks for the music biz, and for Mariah. A friend of mine got Obsessed from Limewire, and of course I mentioned how that affects her getting a number one -
-he told me that I should download it twice then from iTunes to make up for it.
Of course I wasn't too happy with that. But this is happenning more, and more. That's why we need to stream, and request--to make up for the cheap people that can't pay a dollar for a song. I trully feel that Obsessed can get to number 1 before the album drops. That's probably why I'm not in a rush for the next single--the current one still needs to get up there. Nonetheless I can't wait for the album to come out! Four weeks!

Ok, Five weeks! @Honey: I'm also thinking that Mariah is on full album mode.
She must be laying out the final touches on some tracks, or maybe even making new ones. I think that's part of the reason why she wasn't a 100% there (vocally) on her last performance. Her voice is probably being put to use daily at the studio. She also has numerous performances coming up in August, all the way through October. So she might be arranging the set list, working on light choreography, and such.

Man!!! In my country iTunes Store finally was released... and it sucks!!! They don't have OBSESSED!!!!! I thought I was gonna be able to buy it and support Mariah in another way than just stremin' the video on yahoo.

so, since the site is not informing at all about it, as of yesterday, Obsessed seems to have peaked on Urban radio with only 12 new and additional spins during the last 7 days, but not to worry as Pop is slowly catching up and Obsessed is the 8th gainer on that format and at Rhythmic is the 7th, both with +300 new spins. Itunes is plagued with pop cheese, but Obsessed is steady and currently ranks at #15. Actually I was begging for the Jay-Z track to come so the BEP can give it a rest, but now I'm appalled by the fact Miley is overselling Jay-Z. The kids on the US of A should really spend their money on something more productive.

Fans who requested tickets to Mariah Carey's August 28th performance on the Today show received an email today stating that Mariah cancelled on NBC and has been replaced with Miley Cyrus. Not a good sign. Especially with a new album supposedly coming out next month.
To add insult to injury, Carey is also noticeably absent from the list of performers at this year's MTV VMA's. The songstress was originally scheduled to perform at the September awards in NYC, but Mariah's name has been left off the latest press release.

I can't believe that Mariah has cancelled ALL those apperancesses. This is not good at all. Uugghh, why does there always have to be something. Those were all great ways to promote the album. The Today Show twitter said Mariah did not cancel, she postponed her Today Show performance. Makes sense until after the CD is released. Sounds like more Perez crap. The VMA's are right after her Vegas date in September so it would not surprise me if she did not want to attend or perform Obsessed there.

Everyone needs to chill. Here's my take on all this, for what it's worth: Girlfriend isn't done with the damn album and needs more time. Now she's panicking a little and rushing to finish up. But she'll finish, it'll come out when it's ready to come out, and all will be fine.

Why are people paying attention to this Whitney Houston character (the one posting here--not the singer)? Remember the suggestion I made before? The one about ignoring the hater, because all they want is attention, and they have a need to spread negativity. Remember? i don't think being a fan means uncritically accepting everything mariah puts out. honestly, i wouldn't like obsessed (song or video) if it was someone else's; it took me a while to get used to it. and this does not make me a hater. it's great that you like it, though!

i love obsessed....i can't wait for the album but i hope she doesnt have it too old style...i love mariah's new stye of music such as obsessed, touch my body, migrate, cruise control...even though i love love love the classics we have sooo many of those options i want more fun let lose songs from her!!!

please, of course Obsessed is the first single. there's even a freaking CD single (yeah, the physical ones) out there. not to mention a video (actually two versions) and remixes. That was just some BS marketing excuse if you ask me, because of all the controversy. Now Cindi's gonna try and fool everybody saying it was never meant to be a single? They better keep Obsessed on the MOAIA tracklisting too or else! Obsessed is the bomb, so speak for yourself Silvana. Hope you dont crash and burn when MOAIA comes out.

yay. Airplay is increasing :) 51.68M and Obsessed is still steady on Itunes at 13/14 and although Obsessed is not an "official single," it's clear that it was meant to be. But i am so excited for MOAIA and the next single. I love her huge ballads and i hope she does a live performance like the Grammys when she sang Fly Like A Bird. That performance was just unbelieveable :)

I was a little upset at first, because Emancipation, && E=mc2's covers were so iconic... yknow the golden veils and white fur, all dramatic, this was simple... and i prefer a more, i dont know, exciting mariah, and if three of her on the cover why not E=Mc3?
Anyway, now i think it really fits the title, the "Angel" bit, its white, white means purity. I think now the cover, could easily fit in with any of the songs, like for example on E=mc2, Lovin you long time didnt nescessarily fit with the "Diva Pink Fur Dramatic" cover, but this cover is suitable to fit any kind of song!! Which is a god thing!!

Oh boy, it's getting to the point that I'm just laughing out loud when I read some of these comments, LOL. I agree with "Me," Obsessed was definitely a MOAIA single. Hello, what else were they promoting it as for the past two months. Since when in the past 10 years, if ever, has Mariah just come out with a random single just for the heck of it? It's pretty clear that it isn't a coincidense that Mariah was MIA for like a week, then all the sudden we hear from her, and she has a new team, as well as a new album date. NOT a coincidense! I'm sure that the idea of not making Obsessed the offical first single for the album was the idea of the new team. The album is being pushed back... They don't want two singles to be in rotation before the album even comes out. They want to have a new single come out as the album comes out, so people will buy the album, and not just the single. So what's the issue? They can't wait till like the last minute to come out with a new single, but they can't come out with it too early either. So they're trying to figure out what to do. For them it's probably easier to just forget about Obsessed. I don't think they should though. The song is getting more, and more popular, and needs to be included in the album. Either way, I really really hope that this doesn't have to do with Whitney... I know some of you guys don't want to hear that, but you have to admit that whenever (in the past month) there has been news on the Whitney album, there were changes Mariah's album. This is true. I'm not going to debate about Mariah being scared, or not. But maybe it isn't Mariah who's scared, perhaps it's the label... What happened in the past two weeks right before Mariah stop tweeting? Whitney had her press conference, and they announced her new single, which is a ballad. Then all the sudden we don't hear from MC for over a week, and when we finally do, they pushed back the date again, and now they want to say Obsessed isn't the first single, and the real single will be a powerhouse ballad. Doesn't that seem odd? Very ironic... I mean Obsessed was the single just ten days ago, and they had been talking nonstop about HATE U, which isn't a powerhouse ballad, implying that it would be the second single. Now that won't even be the next single.
You have to admit that this is odd. I heard that LA Reid went to that press conference. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to make some changes to Mariah's album after hearing Whitney's. That really seems to be the case.
This isn't the first time this has happened with Mariah, and LA Reid.... Charmbracelet. For those true lambs that were up to date with the 411 on Mariah... Remember that cute little VH1 special that MC did when she was promoting Charmbracelet? She had some behind the scenes footage of her new video of "The One." She was in Japan, shooting the video, so she knew what song it was for, yet she kept saying that it was for The One. Then what happens, we see the video, and it was for "Boy." I was so dissappointed. I didn't get why she insisted that the video was for one song, when it was for another. Then I figured out what was going on... JLo was releasing a single at around the same time. This must've been a move to throw off the opponent. They didn't want JLo to choose a single based on Mariah's, so they put out false info. Remember, Mottola, and JLo had already stolen tracks from Mariah. So in a way it made sense for them to be on the deffense. Unfortunately it didn't work out for Mariah, because "Boy" was a crappy single. "The One" could've been so much better. I have played that song for people, and they love it. Even last year I played it, and my friend thought that it was from E=MC2, and that it should be a single... I laughed, and corrected him. The point is that label was playing it safe, and it didn't work out. The same happened with E=MC2. They played it safe, and it failed. Now it seems like they're trying to play it safe again by trying to take back

I really hope that they don't play it safe with this album. The last thing they need to do is base MC's singles on Whitney's. I really hope that I'm wrong, though I think I'm at least 80% right. Either way, I just want Mariah to do her best, for the album to kick ass, and for the singles to be original, and not safe. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
