Good luck to the three finalists this week. I thought that there were some better entries too but everyone has their own sense of humor I guess. That's what makes the world go round. Just have fun with it and get a few laughs. Life's too short to mull over the little things. Laughter is the best medicine for relieving stress, that, and of course exercise. I didn't make the top three this week by the way. Keep the punchlines coming and enjoy.

Dale, I agree with you. I mean the only choice is the bottom one, and even that caption seemed just a bit too obvious, maybe generic for me, but it is the only one with actual humor. (All this is just in my humble opinion...not looking to offend anyone)

I think there should be one up there saying something about this version being for those who hate the small screen and tiny icons or maybe something about being able to upload more apps and see them all in one screen. What do you guys all think? Personally, I can't wait to see all the others next week!

I don't like any of them and it is more than just my opinion. Last week was the first good one in a while and even that was a little thin.

And here we wind up right back into a Steve Schuman type bunch of snipping, if you guys can't shut up about what's funny and what isn't just because you didn't get picked then just leave the site, I've been cheering everybody on for weeks since my last time for being picked and have been rooting everybody on even you, Coyote, and if there's one thing I can't stand is to see sour grapes on a site that should be just for fun. Its like as soon as the site gets quiet people start getting bored and as if there's not enough to get steamed about in this world between the Iranian elections and tax junk, all you people can do is whine that you don't care for who the Tribune selects for finalists! I have said many times on here what it takes to get selected as a finalist and if you guys just don't get it then go join another contest, I mean my god, are your lives that boring that THIS is what you have to gripe about??

Hey everyone, don't mind my mom (Berta) she was off her meds when she wrote that. I would like to say I am kidding, but I am actually serious. She is embarrassed about what she posted and wants everyone to know she is sorry for the negativity.

Um...Brian. This is the "Comments" section. I think we have the right to express ourselves with honesty here. I mean not everyone is going love every entry that everyone makes. We don't live in that kind of fairy tale world. Really, would you rather read honest commentary, or only sugar coated praises, meant only to let others think we are all good sports. You might also want take a look at what you are saying about others here in your own comment as well, and that was that we don't have lives. At least when some of expressed that we really didn't care for the week's picks, it was only an opinion that we are certainly entitled to, not an insult on one's person.

Then take your comments elsewhere because your "honest opinion" was directed at two people by saying that the third caption entry was the only one with humor and blah blah blah, it has been several beautiful weeks since we kicked the last bad mouther out of here and everyone has been nice and sunshiny to each other and it has been quite pleasant around here which is a breath of fresh air. I have to note that the only negative ones posting this week are ones who I haven't ever noticed before in the comic section which is rather suspect in itself....

Brian, you have issues buddy...my opinions were directed and their captions, not at them personaly. There is nothing wrong with giving an honest opinion on their captions because this is the comment section for those particular captions. A thumbs or thumbs down, it is still only constructive criticism and an opinion that everyone is entitled to. It is what this comments section is for. It is not bad mouthing.

You on the other hand contine to bash and bad mouth in a personal manner. You not only said that some of us have no life, but you even go on to say to leave the website. You comments have been abusive and personal attacks.

John, I will say that in the spirit of following your last statement that I am going to openly criticize your opinion as is my right per you. This is a comic section. Not local politics, state politics, foreign affairs, unjust warfare, condemning of personal lifestyles, food reviews, dear abby or anything like that. It is a comic. One writes in and says this is what I think is a funny idea for what the comic should say and the newspaper either publishes it or you try again next time. People who have to write in and gripe about what others think is a funny thing to say in it are just sad. There are so many real things in the newspaper that deserve criticism and comments. Why not scoot on over to the State and Local page and comment about the drug trafficking or something real. Let those of us who in the spirit of the comics faithfully submit our ideas week after week because we have fun doing it and encourage each other and we leave it at that.

Brian, this is NOT the funny, caption "submitting" page, we are not submitting funny captions here. This is the "comments" page as I pointed out earlier, where we are free to comment on the captions being voted on. I know you feel that all comments should say things like; "Good luck" and "Great captions", but the truth is, we are allowed to also say so when we didn't like the captions. If my caption were up there, I would not want everyone to just post a phoney "Good luck" or "Love your caption" if they don't really mean it. I would much rather hear the truth and tell me if you thought it was not very good. Also to address your other offbeat concern; if the topic here were to discuss current happenings in the media and the world, I would discuss that as you suggest, but it's NOT the topic here. The topic here is commenting on the captions that are currently in the voting stage, which by the way is what I had done.

Whether anyones cares about what I have to say or they don't, is irrelevent. Just as it is irrelevent whether anyone cares about what you, or anyone else here has to say in their opinions. You can never expect that to know if anyone will, or will not care about your opinions. That pretty much goes without saying. The point is, that this comment section section is here to express your comments (opinions) about the captions being voted on, and those opinons will not, by nature always be what everyone would like to see as their feedback. that's life ya know?

Wow! I guess that I stirred up a hornets nest. All that I was saying was that the choices for the finalists were not inspiring. No big deal.

Exactly Dale. It was your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it. You were only using this section for it's proper purpose, to comment on the captions. It should be understood that it was not meant to be something that should be taken personally. If you had liked them, it just as easily could have gone the other direction, and you might have said they were great or hilarious, but there's definitely no reason to be guilty for expressing your opinion on a board that is set up to do just that.

All I have to say, John is the proof's in the pudding and people who have to resort to griping about people's humorous entries seriously need to consider their priorities in life. There's a reality check for you, Dale you're still cool, yet I hate to see another Schumann entering the fray with nothing other than sour grapes to spew on happy peoples' parade

I guarantee I will be a finalist next week ( the judge cartoon)....I already have a spot picked out on my bathroom wall to hang a framed copy of the winning caption....this is where I do my best caption creating, not to mention having very enjoyable bowl movements as of late....ps. nicole, where is my copy of the winning caption "toy-ota"?....someone from san luis obispo want to mail me the Tribune paper with the winning caption?.....i will pay you

Brian, I am done trying to get you to understand that what was posted were not "gripes", they were opinions. You just don't seem to understand that this is the "comments" section to write opinions on the captions being voted on. If you want to believe that a person's opinion is a "gripe", just because they didn't like your caption than go ahead. I'm tired of repeating the same things over and over again for you.

I really wasn't trying to start anything with my comment, I was genuinely curious why Steve chose to stop posting comments in this forum. He was there one week and gone the next. I was just curious.... I was hoping he might comment on his opinion....

I never said the captions were bad, just that I thought there were some better ones, and not necessarily mine. Only 3 can get picked and there are many people submitting captions. Just enjoy yourselfs and have fun.
