THE WAY I SEE IT,DRINKING IS JUST AS BAD. IT ALSO CAUSES CANCER AND KILLED ALOT OF PEOPLE SO I FEEL IF THEY DO CIGRETTS THEN THEY SHOULD BAND DRINKIN. HOW MANY CIGRETTS KILLED PEOPLE AFTER SMOAKING AND THEN GETTING IN A CAR AND DRIVEING. SO MABEY DRINKING SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE BAND. ALSO WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR RIGHTS AS A US CITIZEN. EVEN THOUGH I SMOAK, ONE IS JUST AS BAD AS THE OTHER.
Sure they're both bad, but what if the person who's drinking happens not to drive; they're really not risking someone's health. Yet by smoking, the people around the smoker become prone to secondhand smoke, which does put their health at risk. You still have your rights, but where you'd have them would be limited for the health of other citizens.
I say leave the bars out of it and let them decide for themselves. If you want to go to a bar and smoke, these are the ones. If you want to go to a bar with no smoking, these are the ones.
Personally, I don't want to go to a restuarant to eat and have it full of smoke ( unless it's a truck stop.)
I spend time in Iowa and trust me, it sucked when that place went smoke free.
Let the business owners decide, not some attention seekers acting like they are trying to save the world.
It's simply a matter of free choice. If smoking is banned, what next? What other freedom will the next person try to take, just because "they" don't approve? Smoke-free areas for non-smokers and smoke allowed areas for smokers. Then we all have the right of free choice to go where we choose. MANY Americans have given their lives to protect our freedom of choice. Are we to dishonor these heros just because someone wants "their" way, wants to impose "their" will and "their" opinion on everyone else? The bottom line is really very simple, our freedoms should remain free. No one person or group of people have the right to decide what anyone else does or does not do. Let me decide what's best for me and I'll let you decide what's best for you. This smoking ban goes far, FAR deeper than just smoking, it's about keeping freedom free. Thank You for allowing me to share my free opinion.
I say make Maryville smokefree or everywhere for that matter. If there had never been any tobaco no one would miss it. Just because it is available does not mean we should use it. I chose not to drink alcohol because it is expensive and I would gain nothing from drinking. I tried smoking years ago and did not like the taste or smell and by the way I could not stand dating girls that smoked ( a real turnoff). I drink coffee and enjoy a couple cups a day. If it were banned I would miss it for a week or so but I would get over it as I don't need it to survive. Lets face it if about anything is available we can get hooked on it or think it is the cool thing to do. The important thing is doing the right thing for yourself and those around you, make it a better world.
If there had never been any tobaco no one would miss it.
You've got to be kidding. That would be like saying if mice had machineguns, cats wouldn't mess with them. It has nothing to do with the topic.
I agree with Jeff, it's just a step in the wrong direction. If businesses want to go smoke free, let them have that choice. I find it amusing that there are always those that have to make themselves feel good by thinking they are saving the world.
I'm not here for a long time, just a good time. You want smoke free air and other off the wall laws, head north to Iowa. I'm sure they'd love to have you.
this is a free country, and i hope it will always be free. but it seems there is a lot of people out there that want to take away our freedoms. i am not a smoker and never have been. but just because i don't smoke don't mean i should have the right to tell someone else they cant smoke. i would like to think that if someone didn't want to be around second hand smoke they would have the sense not to go in a bar that allows it. its just common sense. i don't like liver, so guess what? i don't eat it. p.s. car accidents kill thousands of people every year but i bet we don't outlaw them.
