Are you having iPhone 3GS issues?

No problems with the iPhone 3gs as such - I live in the UK and have been waiting for the 3rd iphone, er, since the 1st launched. Sadly I discovered that my house is an O2 (UK exclusive network for iphones) blackspot and I could neither make nor receive calls after stepping through my front door. I know that it is meant to be a mobile phone, but felt that I had to return a phone that I can't use as a phone in my home. 40mins to queue for it, 40 to verify lack of signal, and a 40minute queue to return it. I was gutted.

When restoring my iPhone 3Gs from a previous backup of a 3G, the photos application is damaged. I can't save, retrieve, delete any photos, nor can I take video.

I'm not sure how to recover from this situation, and Apple doesn't seem to have a clue how to either.

If I was jailbroken, I have a feeling all I'd have to do is run the BigBoss permissions repair ... but of course, that's not an option at the moment.

my 3gs is working great. so happy i upgraded. even for $400. well worth it to me. my old 3g keeping losing 3g service all the time and it was driving me crazy. not an issue with the 3gs.

There is a weird red light coming from one of the sensors next to the ear piece. It looks like a C with a dot in the middle. No idea what this is!!

Upgraded from original iPhone to 3GS and was told to wait 48 hours for activate... My old iPhone was still working, so I popped in the old sim card and was working until the new one was activated, then swapped to the new one. Wasn't without a phone, but a little annoying.

YES! I've had the worst experience with Apple & AT&T ever imaginable. I preordered through Apple's online store the night of the keynote, and somebody dropped the ball big time. Apple claims AT&T told them not to ship my iPhone, and AT&T claims Apple somehow notified them to enter me into a new 2 year contract state WITHOUT actually requesting a device. So now, after sitting on the phone with both companies for about 6 hours and talking to them in their brick&mortar stores for about 3 hours over the past few days, they've "figured out" that I simply have to wait (up to a week) for paperwork from Apple to make its way through AT&T's system so I can be moved back into "eligible" status in their system and purchase a phone for less than $700. I find it very hard to believe AT&T doesn't have some master switch that can just make any number eligible instantly for terrible cases like this.

I voted Yes/Hardware.

Here is why:

1. and this may be a software issue - I suffer from the post SMS send 15Khz lingering audio signal issue (very very faint in my case)

2. poor poor battery life in comparison to the 3G unit. I'm in Northern Virginia, a very highly saturated and well covered 3G Data area, and am almost always on WiFi at Home/Work. My 3G would go a complete day of "normal use" and I can't make it past 3PM without my 3GS dying. I understand I can keep it plugged in, I do have an external battery pack for times when thats needed, but I have been testing and my tests as are showing dismal results as compared to the 3G.

3. after shooting video - if I attempt to upload using any of the upload options form within the camera app, while the video is being compressed, I hear a clicking sound - it is not the speakers, it is an internal sound like a hard disk skipping.

I've spoken with Apple Care folks and I have an apt at my local Apple Store for a possible hardware replacement... I'll update after my Monday apt.

No issues with the 3GS here in california. Pre-ordered on keynote day, got it friday, been enjoying it since! Only complaint is that coming from iphone 2g, battery life is far from impressive, but since I got it for the gps and camera upgrades, disabling 3g in the settings puts battery life back to what I would expect. I don't mind turning 3g on only at times when I really need it. Usually on wifi anyways.

Old podcasts which I no longer subscribe are on my 3gs and not Itunes. This leaves no way to delete!

Poor battery life on the 3gs. Maybe getting 6-7 hours befor I have to plug it back in. I am also getting poor reception on 3g in the same locations I got good reception with my 3g. That could be contributing to the poor battery performance. I believe a firmware tweak will fix the radio reception but who knows when that will be.

My power button and home button were flaky right out of the box. They worked maybe 10% of the time. The unit would shut itself off if I shook it. Sometimes pressing thr home button would only refresh the current screen, not take me back to the home screen. It took 2 trips to 2 different Apple stores to get a replacement unit. Not a very nice experience for my first iPhone.

I have a pair of Etymotic hf2 earphones with a built-in microphone. When I'm listening to music on my 3GS in a very noisy environment (on a boat in the wind), the music will occasionally stutter, then come through in very loud short bursts. Covering the microphone stops this behavior. Neither the button on the microphone, nor the button on the iPhone itself are being pressed to activate Voice Control, but the behavior seems linked to the mic picking up noise.

I did not notice this behavior when using my 1st gen iPhone (which doesn't support Voice Control) when using OS 3.0.

I've never had an iPhone before I bought my iPhone 3GS two weeks ago and when I first started recording vids and taking pics, I heard an internal clicking sound and noticed that the screen would continuously refocus. These issues were shown and heard in the videos. VERY ANNOYING. I went to the AT&T store first and they said since it's a hardware issue, I would need to go to the Apple store. When I spoke to the guy at Apple, he said that this is the very first time he's seen/heard of this internal clicking sound and was actually pretty amazed because he's known of ALL the 3G and 3GS issues. He even went as far as showing my phone to all of his co-workers and they were just as stunned. He gave me a replacement phone and I'm pretty upset because it's considered refurbished. I paid the price of a brand new 32GB iPhone 3GS only to get a refurbished one two weeks later. FML
