Would You Bike to Work More If You Had Access to a Shower?

Totally! If I had space to freshen up I'd bike everyday

Maybe: Arriving sweaty is no fun, but that's not my top concern

No: Even if I could shower, it's nowhere near the top of my concerns

I already do bike to work, however a shower would make me, as well as everyone else in the office, much happier.

I already bike to work! :P

But a shower during summertime is always an incentive!

I bike to work at least a few days a week, but it would be REALLY NICE to be able to shower when I arrive. As it is now, I just sort of cool down and then change into work clothes in the bathroom. Less than ideal, but it beats driving a car to work.

1. possibly if the shower provided didnt have roaches coming up the drain... (basement in a rehabbed building.

2. bike paths are entirely too dangerous in this city.

3. its not always convenient since most errands i have to run are father away than my home. we have a "wheel/spoke" set up and most box stores and groceries are not in a convenient area.

4. though there are a lot of bikers the town is still not friendly to them.

I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as Amy on safety. The bike paths (and any other route to my job) are really dangerous. Cyclists have been killed and seriously injured and still drivers are completely careless. I'm WAY too scared to bike to work.

This poll is great, but let's take it with a grain of salt. It's being done in the "treehugger.com" site and readers are already forward-thinkers. I'm sure results would be very different if conducted in some other website. As for the showers, I agree with Amy, if these are clean, I'll go for it for as long as the weather allows me.

No I'm not going to take a cold shower in winter after a workout on my bike!!!

I bike to work about once a week (8 miles), and even if there was a shower, I wouldn't use it. Too much hassle/time.
On the way in, I just take it easy so I don't sweat much, and on the way home, it doesn't matter.

I work from home. Anyone who can do their job from home should be allowed to.

I too already bike to work. Year round. A shower is not necessary but it would be great on hot days and would save me from showering in the morning before leaving. Yes i shower before i ride. Preemptive cleaning.

I already bike to work, and already have a shower at the office! Only 2 or 3 out of about 30 of us bike so don't know if the shower helps that much :(

The people coming off the bus look like they are in more need of a shower than I am. I bike to work everyday and am never and sweatier than if I walked. I'll take more bike lanes and fewer pot holes over a shower any day.

It depends. Our showers at work have very little privacy. It is a big room with several faucets (one for women, one for men) and no cabins/curtains. I have no desire to see my program manager or other coworkers naked, no do I want to be seen naked by them.

I've been on that bus, and yes, we do need the shower.
I've walked two miles to work at one job, and that shower would have been nice at the end of that trek.

Coworkers who have worked up a sweat sometime in their lives, instead of working up a pique of bigotry and bitchiness about that little bit of sweat, would be even nicer. The money saved on shower facilities could, perhaps, go into raises or into layoff prevention.

Where do I get the nice coworkers? I'd walk five miles to work just to have a job with the good guys and gals.

Almost of the places I have worked have worked in the last 12 years had shower facilities - the problem is that they never well equipped or maintained, and usually stink. There is never adequate room for drying and getting dressed and what space there is, is filled with other people's dirty towels, shoes and junk.
