One option was left off - trade Rashard Lewis and unload that $118 million!!
why in the world would you think about getting rid of rashard?? he played great for us in the regular season and even better in the playoffs. he creates so many matchup problems playing at the 4. however with my plan he would be moving back to the 3 and covering one of the toughest positions on the floor at SF. we need to move rashard back to the 3, somehow package Rafer and Hedo together for say Carlos Boozer??? we need a more traditional PF that will defend and rebound as well as hit the occasional mid-range jumper. We did have a very good defense this year, but it was mainly D doing all the heavy lifting. How nice would that lineup be. Dwight, Boozer, Rashard, Lee and Nelson. Lee is only going to get better, so the offense we lose by getting rid of Hedo we gain with Lee.
I say we have to re-sign Turk. I like the style we play and do not want to change it a bit. Trading Alston is probably a good idea if we can get some value, but for a veteran only. The single most important thing that could elevate this team is Howard making the next leap. He needs to develop a signature shot. That bank shot he was messing with earlier in the season seems like his bet bet. He is going to need that to deal with the bad matchups like Perkins or Gasol. He also needs to work on his handling of the ball. I'm not sure if that is a curable problem but I rate it as more important than even his FT shooting.
