Will Jim Balsillie get another chance to buy an NHL team?

When is Balsillie going to realize that the NHL won't be bullied into giving him a franchise and he should stop trying to tell the NHL Governor's how to run their league. We all know that Hamilton could support a team but it could be the death of the Buffalo Sabres.

Just wait until the NHL board of governers turfs Bettman and his cronies. Then the doors will open for more Canadian teams. Right now it seems as if Gary's philosophy is anywhere but Canada... as a side note I feel that the recent run for the Cup was tainted by poor officiating and headoffice meddling, giving the mug to what amounts to a one line team. Ahh yes NHL-Lite.

Sorry to disagree with you if someone with deep pockets were to relocate a team here it would do just fine even with the number of seats we have.
I am willing to wager a small amount that Winnipeg will have an NHL team within 5(FIVE) years.Whoever buys the team may somehow have to find a way to add some seats either way I beleive it will happen.

I think Balsillie will get another chance to bid on a team so long as the NHL persists in propping up franchises in dumb-ass locations like Phoenix. BUT...as long as Bettman is running the show. What is it with this guy and Canada?

Winnipeg will most likely never get another team. The arena built for the Moose is at least 1,500 seats too small (15,015 cap now) and would be the smallest in the NHL.

Winnipeg is a blue collar town and is the wholesale capital of Canada and to boot there is an exodus of business to anywhere but here.

Good bless Mark Chipman in his attempts to talk nice with Bettman and company, but he should stop wasting his time. The NHL will go to Kansas, Las Vegas, Milwaukee, Seattle, Portland or any other American city with an arena and market bigger than ours.

Sorry to be a negative, but them's the facts jack.

I am from Winnipeg and we lost the jets to Phoenix for the same reasons that it cannot survive in Pheonix however I beleive that it could now survive here with the new arena we built for the Moose.
However it requires someone with deep pockets and unless someone comes forward I think it should go to Hamilton.Winnipeg will in the near future have its opportunity to buy another team with lots of them in trouble.

I think the NHL owners are are wrong on there thinking of keeping cototes in phoenix, They are losing money and can't even pay the creditors, Hamilton had an NHL team and it was sold from us, So why can't we have a team back again. we as NHL fans damb well desrve it.
It's been to long that we haven't had a team and i think Hamilton would grow and be a great hockey town like it was before.
GO TIGERS AND GOOD LUCK Balsillie
