What was Stan Van Gundy's worst coaching move in Game 4

Not fouling Lakers before Derek Fisher hit his 3 at the end of regulation

Benching Rafer Alston and having Jameer Nelson in the game at crunch time

Not having Courtney Lee in the game for defensive purposes at the end of regulation

What's the big deal, Van Gundy did a fine coaching job

I know that the coach wants to believe that Nelson is ready to play, BUT after 4 month you don't bring a player back and think that he's going to be able to perform to the standards needed. I'm no basketball pro but I do know that if Nelson would have remained ON THE BENCH they would have WON that game. A shoulder injury, please how is this man going to be able to gaurd anybody! I feel that Raefer Alston would have been a better choice.......GO MAGIC!

What the HECK is SVG thinking? REALLY NELSON, REALLY NELSON-he has not played in months and he did not get us to the NBA Finals. I am so disappointed in his judgment. Nelson cost us the NBA Finals more than SVG did.

Stan is a bad coach. He needs to be replaced. Nelson in for the entire 4th quarter and overtime! Nelson only had 2 assist the entire 4th and OT. His defense was trouble, he contributed nothing to the Magic at all. Stan should have taken him out, he also should of had them foul at half court to prevent Fisher or any Laker player from making a three. The laker had to come down the court to score, there was no need to have a half court press. Stan and Nelson costs us the finals. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

svg decision not to play Rafer Alston, was the worst coaching decision thatI, and every one I have spoken to has ever seen. SVG cost them that game. Jameer nelson cannot play, and by the way someone should tell him to keep that mouthpiece in his mouth, he looks like he is more concerned with playing with it then he is with the game.

Stan's displeasure with Alston on a switch off involving one of Ariza's threes created another situation whereby SVG in one of his fits with clashing egos proved he is no better than any moody player-chemistry is fragile and as a direct result of not using 'who brung you to the dance', along with flare-ups with Dwight as well as several other players should result in his dismissal - and they is talk of an extension of contract-SAD SAD SAD.

Can't do much worse, SvG gets the blame. Player's were awful at times but we lost on Stan's lack of ability to coach. Nelson was ineffective and tired, didn't matter if Fischer drove for a two so a taller and slower defender more capable of stopping the 3 would make more sense. And Magic J was right, why inbound with Turk (25pts) with Lewis (6pts) on the floor for a last shot and not the other way around? Even the good ole NBA refs got in the act, same ref, two blown calls; Kobe's elbow and Ariza with one foot out of bounds. Ref makes either call and we win. And what's up with Kobe whispering all the time to the officials (see the video) sometimes covering his mouth with his hand. He whines on ever change and about 1/2 the plays.

Anthony Johnson would never have allowed that 3, or Courtney. Letting Nelson play has been stupid... but then again, this is the same Otis Smith that picked Vasquez and completely wasted a number 1 pick. How he kept his job from that one is a joke.

Cleveland will need a new coach, let's send them Van Gundy... that was the worst coaching I've seen in over 50 years. Duhhh... Stan... 19 minutes for Jameer who slowed down the offense and generally just sucked... step down Stan, let someone with a basketball background coach the team. What a freakin' jerk!!!!

Dispite the coaching pitfalls in game 4, the bigger promblem is the inability of the hte players to hit free throws down the stretch. D Howard had a chance to make it a 2 possession game if he would have made 1 of his 2 free throws. Also Hedo T missing free throws in the last minutes of the game!!!! Look at the stat sheet in game 2 and 4 and you will see why they lost the game.....missing free throws and turnovers. In championship games you can not win if you do not protect the ball and hit free throws.....free points....16 of them missed last night. The Lakers are not beating the Magic, the Magic are beating themselves in this series.

Im a Laker follower, but I genuinely felt bad for the blown Game 4. Give the foul not in OT, a pro should not have to be told to NOT give up a three-point shot in the last 11 seconds. The series should be tied 2-2, which would have made for a greater game five. I don't blame Nelson, though. It's a team loss because everyone could have stepped up. Note to Hedo Terkolou: Stop celebrating every time you hit a shot down the stretch. Keep that Game Face until the Fat Lady sings.

Nelson over Skip in the 4th was not necessarily a mistake as the offense was terrible in the 3rd, and he was chucking. Nelson had helped lead the team back to a five point lead. Nelson or Skip (or Johnson who has more punch than Nelson lately) was a 50/50 judgement call. Had the 3rd quarter slump remained, the Lakers would have won by 10.

But, putting in your best three point defenders in a three point game is a no-brainer. I think not substituting in Lee was the worst decision, as it is a situational substitution you expect a pee-wee league coach to make. It is simple, basic, and fundamental. At worst you give your overextended PG a few more moments of rest before a possible offensive possession.

No 1 worst move : Not reinserting Rafer w/ 9 or 8 minutes left in regulation to go up-tempo.
No 2 : Not having the right guys in w/ 11 seconds remaining to contest the inbound pass and contest the 3-point attempts. (e.g.: Turk, MP, Dwight, Lee, Rashard)
No 3 : Not fouling before any 3-point attempt.
Really -- the correct answer to this was not among the selections : Not getting the team to build a bigger lead in the second quarter- when all the Lakers bigs were on the bench w/ foul trouble. Magic should have led at the half by 20 0r 22.

THere was a reason Pat Riley booted out Van Gundy when the Heat won their Championship.
