Do you think the routes 33/237 intersection is dangerous?

All of you that answered "No, It's the drivers that's the problem, not the intersection" are also correct." The problem is with the driver but it's also with the road design. Ask yourself this. Why is it that there are more accidents at these intersections? Do they have more drivers going through them who have some sort of mental defect than other intersections? Nah, everyone has the same flaws and defects. You can't find fault for humans being human. See the above answer for the short attention span instinct that we all have.

I think the problem with the 33/237 intersection is the long distance from each direction before getting to the light. The human brain has a short attention span. Put something in front of a person and they eventually ignore it while looking for something new. This is a survival mechanism. Miss the new beast that just showed up while you're staring at the apple in the tree and you become lunch. I live near suicide corners at East Rd and Rt20. The exact same conditions exist there. Rumble strips would solve this problem for the north/south traffic at each intersection. Traffic for north and south moving vehicles have to stop so the rumble strips would refocus their attention on the light that they've lost track of. I've no clue why this is a baffling problem for road design engineers. It's an obvious problem with simple, cheap solutions. Maybe design engineers should study how a human brain works before saying there's not a problem with an intersection known for having far more crashes than other intersections.

There is a much bigger problem at the intersection of 237 and 5. I drive both every day and see a much larger issue near Route 5.
