Do you wear gaiters?

I find front zip gaiters less tiresome to use and do find that they prevent the ingress of water and debris through the top of the boot. Heather encrusted socks are no fun and sharp debris entering gortex lined boots.....

Whilst I don't wear gaiters on every walk I think they are useful in heavy rain, muddy or boggy conditions so though I voted yes to the poll the correct answer is sometimes if he conditions dictate.

I Always Gaiters if it is at all lightly we may get rain and they are also good at keeping out the early morning dew when we are around early enough to find any. I think the minimal amount of phaffing around to fit them is more than outweighed by their usefulness.

I used to wear "yeti" gaiters all the time but now they dont seem to fit Scarpa boots as well as they used to and now modern materials and styles used in legwear seem to make the need for gaiters unneccessary, unless of course it's absolutly steaming down then nothing will keep you dry.

Gaiters are indispensible in wet and muddy weather. They keep trousers clean and stop grit getting into your boots.

Whilst gaiters can be a bit of a 'phaff' to put on before setting off, I find half length gaiters useful to help keep me dry (particularly when walking whilst on holiday with limited clean/dry trousers).

I wear calf length gaiters when walking in the Lakes or Wales, especially during Autumn, Winter, Spring. They help keep my feet and ankles dry.

I have 2 pairs of gaiters. 'Yeti' gaiters, which really need to be fitted in advance as they are a tight fit onto my Scarpa leather boots, keep out mud or snow very well. I also have a pair of 'Legaiters' which are full leg length and are ideal for 'Welsh weather' and can be put on as an alternative to waterproof trousers. They attach to a belt and to the boot laces and with a full length zip leave plenty of breathing room round the major muscles which really helps comfort.
