I have fit every category over the years. It depends on how well I am taking care of myself and my marriage. It also helps when I understand the development level of my most frustrating kids.
My sons are grown and I rarely yelled when they were kids--but I regret it now. They turned out fine but looking back the yelling was sometimes more a way of venting for me than correction for them.
I have to say I am with Mary. Sometimes my kids just are not listening so a little shout makes them clue in. Sometimes I am stressed and just can't seem to pull myself together and I just flip my lid and well then I yell! The last month has been difficult and I seemed way over the edge: then my doctor put me on hormones. Wow I wans't going insane my hormones were just off a bit it really had an effect on our home balance.
