Resounding NO! This is far to 'intrusive' as well, a waste of taxpayers money. What in the name of GOD are 2 Deputy's going to do with virtually 'thousands' of 'paitent's' prescription info?(based on the respective counties involved) (Are they familiar with the classes of all drugs, have they been to a school, like a pharmacist?) More importantly, have they considered 'why' this patient is on a certain medication? Personally, i think they simply want info on 'narcotics' only, ie: they have no use for people on antibiotics , or other classes of prescription drugs. Most people go to a Dr w/ an agreement, its called 'confidentiality' , almost like a Lawyer, which is a whole other legal beast. I would like to say, i have yet to see where in any news article a person died at the hands of law enforcement due to 'lack' of prescription knowledge? ie: when a body is taken into custody, they are asked if they are on any meds, i think? (prior to being detained in a 'jail' for a charge). If not, they should be? When a body is arrested, and jailed, he/she is the sole responsibility of the respective Dept w/ the charges against them. Looks to me like another way to 'pry' open something on a body, when we , as a country , are losing more rights and freedoms everyday. How bout the 'DEPT' who wants this 'right' PAY' for my Dr bill, then they can look at the dispensed prescriptions all they want? <-----I have to pay money for a service, take that out of the equation, and its an expensive one in today's economy, so, until that is a non factor, they need to stay with higher priorities then more wasteful spending. ie: Law enforcement has trouble keeping up w/ the thousands of 'sex offender's' in this state, much less the hundreds of thousands of people who get a prescription. Their Deputy's NOT Doctors. (or maybe its just me?) J
