I too, stayed at a hotel in Baltimore, the Admiral Fell hotel, where one can experience first hand ( no pun intended) this perfect bar of soap. It is much easier to use than a regular bar due to the fact you now can actually hold the soap in your hand. Yes a real grasp to a bar of slippery soap. I do so hope this conceopt does catch on and can become the new look in soap. As for liquid soap at a hotel, well lets just say too expensive to put out new one for every guest. sorry liquid soap users.

Doesn't this increases on the amount of packaging and transport volume required for each item, thus unnecessarily increasing this products impact on the environment? The idea of using the soap to raise awareness is nice and all, but it's kind of like cutting down a forest to make paper for "save the rain forest" fliers.

Using any kind of bar is wasteful... and liquid is a tolerable idea if stored in a dispenser in the shower ~ but I don't think hotels prefer that (and the original soap is still stored in plastic.
A truly non-wasteful idea? Paper soap, shampoo, conditioner... they come in little sheets that immediately turn to suds when in contact with water. Of course the hotels will have to find a way to make these more "luxurious" and use biodegradable packaging...

Seems like a lot of trouble to go to when they could just hand out smaller bars. It may be symbolic, but the statement would probably be lost on most people who only want to think about soap long enough to suds up their hands.

great idea considering the hotel staff put new soap in the bathroom everyday.
It is a good message, yes they could have made a smaller bar but that is not as creative

Wouldn't liquid soap just be the easiest? There is always a middle no matter how small or what shape the soap is. At least it does bring attention to using less.

If hotels must provide soap, why not provide just the middle?

This would definetely waste more than it saves. What I do when travelling is bring my own soap in a travel/reusable container and don't even touch the hotel soap. Or if I use the hotel soap, i take the bar with me when I leave. That way the hotel does not throw it out and I save some money by using it up and not having to buy another bar of soap.
