Even though I was disappointed by the lack of flags, I made up for it with bunting, one flag on the porch, one on the flag pole with the 82nd Airborne and US Army flag below it, flying it at half-mast until noon, then raising it to full mast right at noon. I was, however, heartened to see the turn out at our local cemetary for Memorial Day observances. The cemetary puts a flag on every veteren's gravesite, and it was a wonderful thing to see. There was a chorale and soloists that sang, 2-3 veterans shared, a lone piper played "Amazing Grace", a 21 gun salute, taps by a bugler with a ghost bugler playing a few notes behind, and a flyover with a C17. It was hard to find a parking place and a great mix of young and old. A very good day.
